The Goldie's I remember in OKC were at Hefner & Pennsylvania (Shakey's, Goldie's, and lastly Pioneer Pies before it was razed) and S. Broadway & 9th in Edmond. Does that sound right? I did like Goldie's, and even though I have never been a pickle fan, I liked their pickle bar.

I've only lived in OKC for 8 years, so I am unaware of any Goldie's that were ever here. I agree with the pickle bars. I don't usually eat pickles by themselves, but when I do I am waiting on a burger.

wow... i did not realize any of those were still left. when i was a kid, we occasionally went to the one on i-240 and shields that was (i think) originally built as a bonanza. it was located where harbor freight is now.

There are 4 locations in Tulsa. One of my good friends loves them, so if I am in Tulsa around lunch time I will meet him at a Goldie's. Sadly, the last few times I was in a Goldie's it was dead as a doornail and two are temporarily closed.

Sorry but fuddruckers isn't better than the Garage or Tucker's. By the way if you haven't tried New State burgers in the plaza, add it to your list.

In-N-Out would at least be an upgrade to the FF burger offerings here.

Yes, the Garage is good.

In-N-Out doesn't sound to me like it would be a good place for burgers or any food, but I suppose the same can be said of the Garage.

In-Out-Burger is a fast casual place. Fuddruckers and Longnecker's were not. They were sit down restaurants. And you can can't compare their burgers. They were ground ribeye meat and they had a fantastic burger bar to add what suited you. I realize that this is all subjective but I have eaten at all of these places (non bad) and I would list Harrigan's Longnecker's/Fuddruckers, and In-Out-Burger as my order of choice.

I was talking to family in California and I mentioned In N out Burgers.

I was recommended to go to the one by LAX, you can get your order and sit outside and watch the planes coming in really low. Sounds fun to me.

I haven't been to LA in quite a few years but I may just have to go visit some family there.

Here's a video I grabbed at random of such: https://youtu.be/iRd9uMXMhdk

I don't think it's actually on LAX property, just outside of it.

Wasn't Longneckers was west of Friend's (the Original) and My Pie Pizza? I think after it closed it became Time Out, which is where the PCNorth kids hung out at the time, then UR Cooks. I think they tore it down in the 90's to build the original outback building.

I absolutely LOVED Time Out!

This is a MUST when coming to LA, the only In N Out that I eat. And yes, it's just outside/offsite of the North Runways' West End.

Not sure. I've never been to California, wanting to go to LA in the next few years but will probably hit up local restaurants when I'm out there. I think the Dallas locations are really good, nothing revolutionary but it's a top tier burger for the price point, just above Whataburger and right on par with Culver's (still hoping against hope that Culver's decides to challenge Braum's and open a few locations in OKC someday).

I've had Culver's many times and I didn't find them better than Braums in burgers or ice cream. I had heard so much about Culver's but even after several experiences it never blew me away or made me want it instead of Braums.

The Habit is alright. I’m not a huge fan and I certainly won’t go out of my way lol. They do have good Shakes though. Speaking of other chains it’d be nice to have a Fat Sals. I thought they had an Austin location but I don’t see it anymore.

I don’t mind grilled onion served on their own as a side or on kabab but on a sand which? Pft

There's stuff on this weeks shopping list to do just that!

My favorite burger is a 1/4 lb 80/20 chuck patty cooked on the outdoor grill and eaten with a 1/8 to 1/4" cross-section of onion and Head Country BBQ sauce.

The one time I made the effort to go all out on the stove, with a smashed and crispy patty, mustard evenly spread on both side of the bun (this actually makes a huge difference) and chopped onions, it was one of the best burgers I've ever had.

I rarely cook burgers on the stove and it's usually a hurried affair with me just squirting some mustard and maybe ketchup on the bun, with no additional ingredients.

I use the same patty. I season with a mixture I make of Worcester, Emeril's Essence and just a hint of either onion powder or garlic powder. Then just basic lettuce, B&B pickles, thin as I can slice it tomato and onion. Wife does mustard and I do mayo.
I'm hungry now!

My wife really likes Tuckers and the first time I went with her, I was totally unimpressed.

The second time, it was maybe the best burger I'd had in my life.

The handful of times since, I've been back to being totally unimpressed.

I'm curious about Nic's but I won't wait in line for a meal. Besides, I much prefer raw onions on my burger.

I love Tucker's as well.

Tucker's is about as smart an engineered burger as I've ever seen. An unapologetic hunk of grease with crunchy oniony goodnesss slung between buns with enough heft to hold together. If they had a drive through window, they'd be selling lots of hamburgers.

If In-N-Out opened up here, yeah, you'd see CRAZY sales on day one. There would be traffic issues, probably people camping in tents. That'd go on for maybe 2 days. 2 years later, sales will have plummeted because they're not going to commit to the kind of footprint Whataburger and Chick-fil-A have, and enthusiasm will peter out and about half or more of their stores will close.

Just look at Zaxby's. If I was a fast food franchise, I'd stay well away from OKC.

The In-n-Out's in Texas still have very long waits; the one in Frisco has been open for nearly 10 years.

I understand that many people don't think their burgers are all that great, but many, many more love them, especially for the price and service.

They now have 20 locations in the DFW metroplex.

They set up a distribution point there, so might as well build-out the market.

Not sure if they could serve OKC from there, but that would be likely given the relatively short drive. Still, I'm sure they'd want multiple locations here to make that worth their while.

There have been no indications they are planning to come to Oklahoma in the near future.

I remembered seeing a map comparing the range of their original distribution center to their new DFW distribution center. Found it again (thank you, Google image search). Based on that map, they could easily build not only in OKC, but even Tulsa and as far as St Louis (hypothetically).

I really hope they don’t expand to NE though. They are synonymously a western chain and it’s cool for them to stay like that. OKC qualifies as a western city or at least it being on the western divide so why not.

I write to In-N-Out often for them to come to OKC.

Pete

I saw they had plans for Boise, ID which almost certainly means another distribution point in that general area and thus more expansion into the sparsely populated areas of the West rather than more Midwest, Southeast and Northeast.

Hewlett Packard has a big operation there.

And in Montana, they call Bozeman "Boze-Angeles" because of all the relocated Californians. I've been to Bozeman and many of the restaurants and bars feel like they are straight out of Santa Monica.

Tons of the rich and famous have ranches in that area. On my last visit I ran into Michael Keaton.
