Southern Hills lands 2022/2030 PGA Championships


Southern Hills previously hosted the PGA Championship in 1970, 1982, 1994 and most recently in 2007; also Tulsa hosted U.S. Opens in 1958, 1977 and in 2001.

Since the decision to leave Trump National in 2022, the PGA received invitations from about 30 golf clubs wanting to host the PGA Championship next year.

The 2022 PGA Championship, originally scheduled to be held at Trump Bedminster in New Jersey before being pulled from the venue by the PGA of America four days after the January 6 insurrection on the United States Capitol, will instead be held at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. The PGA of America made the announcement on Monday afternoon without further comment.

This is a great event for Southern Hills. Should bring some tourist money into the Tulsa area.

Definitely interested in getting tickets for a day of this. I am very amused that it's happening right during the statistical peak of severe weather season now that the PGA has been moved up from its traditional mid-August timeframe. What could go wrong lol, but on the plus side, at least it probably won't be 95 degrees out.
