it is down to 3 teams with out fans in the stands Portland (the state doesn't allow) the Bulls ( the chicago mayor just said they expect to have fans again before the end of the season) and the Thunder that has been allowed to have fans in the stand since game 1 ..

such garbage

thunder needs houston to win

Exact opposite. OKC fans should want Houston to lose every game and finish last. That gives OKC the best odds at a good pick. If Houston finishes last then OKC has a 48% of getting the #5 pick, which is the best possible outcome.

Help me, I thought the Houston pick was top 4 protected, and the protection is based on won-loss standings at the end of the regular season? That would mean we need Houston to finish with number 5 or higher record for us to get their pick and use it in the draft lottery?

The lottery is now weighted.

Yup, look at the “pick odds” on tankathon. The top 5 players in this year’s draft are supposed to be very strong and if Houston stays in the worst spot then we have a 48% chance of Houston dropping to #5 and OKC getting the best possible pick. If Houston ends with the second worst record then OKC’s odds to get the pick don’t improve, but the odds for #5 drop. The weighted lottery odds have really changed things. June 22nd will be when we find out.

That would be the best odds of getting the #5. Pick. But not the best odds of getting the houston pick this season

Would be nice to accidentally win the #1 pick and have Houston fall to #5.

Not quite like drawing an Inside Straight, but pretty close.

I'm starting to feel like you're arguing for the sake of it. Just look at the odds, standings, and remaining schedule and it is extremely clear OKC wants Houston to finish with the worst record. Houston is really bad with a very hard schedule so, realistically, they couldn't climb higher than the maybe the 3rd worst record. Houston winning actually slightly DECREASES OKC's odds of getting the pick.

- If Houston finishes last the OKC has a 47.9% change of getting the #5 pick.
- If Houston finishes second to last then OKC has a 47.8% chance of getting the #5 or #6 picks.
- If Houston finishes third to last then OKC 47.8% chance of getting the #5, #6, or #7 picks.

There is almost no chance Houston can climb up to #4, but only then would OKC's odds of getting the pick increase to a 51.9% chance of getting the #5, #6, #7, or #8 picks. OKC fans want Houston to finish with the worst record and possibly get that valuable #5 pick. It's pretty clear.

Would be nice to accidentally win the #1 pick and have Houston fall to #5.

Not quite like drawing an Inside Straight, but pretty close.

This is the dream. If OKC could pull this off then it would potentially allow the franchise to re-think it's plans.

haha. That's pretty strong. It may matter in the end or not. We'll see. Let's hope the T-Wolves keep winning and the Cavs find a win at some point. Big picture, there's not a huge difference between the 4 and 6 spots, but I'd like to get those improved odds at 4.

The Grand Prize

Players want to secure an individual future with the Thunder and not be used for tanking purposes. Our 2 original pivotal starters Al Horford & Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are being sat out.

Look for the Thunder to finish no higher than the 5th seed. IMO you can't ask players or a coach to purposefully lose a game; Sam Presti took care of that by asking Coach Daigneault to experiment with players like Charlie Brown Jr., and Tony Bradley with earned playing time.

Incredible Thinking Man

Presti selected Luguentz Dort (now a starter) undrafted in 2019; think what he's going to get from a first round top 5 draft pick in 2021:

Cade Cunningham - Oklahoma State. 6'8" 220 lbs - PG.
Evan Mobley - USC. 7'0" 215 lbs - C.
Jalen Suggs - Gonzaga. 6'4" 205 lbs SG.

Jalen Green - USA. 6'6" 186 lbs SG.
Jonathan Kuminga - Congo. 6'8" 220 lbs PF.
Keon Johnson - Tennessee. 6'5" 186 lbs SG.
Jalen Johnson - Duke. 6'9" 220 lbs SF.
Davion Mitchell - Baylor. 6'2" 205 lbs PG.
Franz Wagner - Michigan. 6'9" 220 lbs SF.
Scottie Barnes - Florida St. 6'9" 227 lbs SF.

I think we end up getting past Minnesota, but I could see the Cavs losing out and the Magic and Pistons may not win more than a game or so. The challenge for OKC is losing to the Kings... three times! I'm thinking the #4 spot is most likely, but we need stay focused. haha

Tonight might be the toughest game to lose against a depleted Kings squad missing their three best players that was already terrible. Even winning one or two of these games could push the Thunder from 3rd to 6th without any meaningful benefit. I wish they'd sit Dort tonight, but it appears he's playing. Let's see what Charlie Brown can do. ;)

The reason I don't mind SGA and Dort sitting is that I suspect they're both going to get plenty of run on Team Canada this summer. It really works out that they could still get some great experience this summer while allowing the Thunder to tank during the season.

Tank you fools, tank...

It's obvious that Thunder management wants this team to tank. You have Presti directing Coach Daigneault to insert the 10 day contract players and experiment with various combinations. Hope we can get somewhere between 3rd and 5th in the draft--because like it or not we anticipated this season being toast.

Gary Beck continues to get the hang of things with Thunder teammates. He dropped 16 points on the Kings--good pick-up for 21-22. If we get a top five draft pick, the team will be competitive next season.
