Fingers crossed. mugofbeer 11-01-2020, 11:30 AM I'm sorry such damage was done and so many have been without power. I hope everyone is back on now. TheTravellers 11-01-2020, 12:32 PM There are linemen in my neighborhood. I repeat, there are linemen in my neighborhood. Fingers crossed. Send them to Venice when they're done! All 3 corners around us have power, we're still without. Thomas Vu 11-01-2020, 02:05 PM I have power again! I was out since tuesday morning. Lots of errands ran, staying in my car to be in a place with a heater. Bill Robertson 11-01-2020, 03:09 PM This outage has been weirder than usual. At least around here. Pretty much the square mile from Rockwell to Council and a half mile N and S of Hefner was completely out most of Tuesday and Wednesday. Then parts of the same area would be off for hours off and on up until this morning. All except for about 20 houses, including mine, pretty much in the middle of said area which never lost power except for a blink here and there. I feel very blessed. Another odd thing this storm caused. At work we changed all the EXIT light bulbs to LED a couple years ago. There are 2 circuits of EXIT lights both fed from the same 277/480 volt panel. Every single bulb on one of the circuits went bad Tuesday. Nothing else in the building was affected. I've never seen anything like this even with lightning which can do really strange stuff. And I've been a licensed Electrician since 78 and a licensed Contractor since 83. Most of that time I've specialized in service, trouble shooting and building automation & control systems because I like and am good at this type of thing. So I've seen a lot of strange stuff but this one is right up there with the strangest. emtefury 11-01-2020, 04:30 PM Weird in my neighborhood too with power outage. There are two streets without power and it is only one side of the street for both. The rest of the neighborhood has power. sooner88 11-01-2020, 05:45 PM We’ve been out since Monday and OG&E sent an email this evening that they don’t expect to have it back until Friday at the earliest. Absurd. Bill Robertson 11-01-2020, 06:19 PM We’ve been out since Monday and OG&E sent an email this evening that they don’t expect to have it back until Friday at the earliest. Absurd. There was a lot of damage to some areas. Physical repairs don't always follow "Immediate gratification". sooner88 11-01-2020, 07:43 PM There was a lot of damage to some areas. Physical repairs don't always follow "Immediate gratification". Thanks for the reminder, wasn’t aware of that. Bits_Of_Real_Panther 11-01-2020, 09:49 PM Is oge systemwatch accurate? When I click on the outage list a and sort high to low it shows OKC with 87,000 outages. I want to say 2 days ago, for okc it was 89,000. Not much of a budge... Bill Robertson 11-02-2020, 08:34 AM Thanks for the reminder, wasn’t aware of that. The addition of "Absurd" on the end of the post I replied to indicated exactly that. Bill Robertson 11-02-2020, 08:38 AM Is oge systemwatch accurate? When I click on the outage list a and sort high to low it shows OKC with 87,000 outages. I want to say 2 days ago, for okc it was 89,000. Not much of a budge...They're down to 79,000 now. Probably pretty close. Once they get the large areas on that are repaired by getting main lines back up everything slows down quite a bit. It spreads the manpower and equipment out a lot when they get to all the smaller areas. Pete 11-02-2020, 08:41 AM We still don't have power at 36th & Shartel. OG&E email says it will be back on by Friday, which would be close to 2 weeks. TheTravellers 11-02-2020, 11:51 AM We finally have some progress. Our block is a single island that's still out, 31 houses according to OG&E, supposed to take until 9 pm on Wed. But 2 linemen from another company came by today, wanted to check my weatherhead, and luckily mine is OK (the other 2-3 aren't so lucky). They said they've never seen a setup like this, and when they saw the pole, they said "Woooow, hope the pole's OK". So for our one block, there's something big that took the whole block out, plus they have to go door-to-door checking on individual house connections, and at least one pole on our block has apparently major work that needs doing. So it's not really absurd when you think of that scenario repeated ad nauseum across their entire service area. If only the idiot next door had listened when I told her multiple times she needed to trim/cut down her trees (we'd still have the original problem, but not these complications). Bill Robertson 11-02-2020, 12:23 PM We still don't have power at 36th & Shartel. OG&E email says it will be back on by Friday, which would be close to 2 weeks. I saw a OG&E post this morning that the email was a mass email and the Friday est. is the est. of the last repairs to be done. It said most would be back on by Wed. One of the ladies in the group posted on the page that the lineman was working on her street. She's pretty upset thinking he was working to get her power back on. Pete 11-03-2020, 07:18 AM Whatever those guys get paid, it's not enough. Tough, dangerous work often done in the worst possible conditions. Plutonic Panda 11-03-2020, 10:12 AM There’s a go fund me for the guy and I can’t find it now. Plutonic Panda 11-03-2020, 10:41 AM Here’s the Gofundme link: https://gf.me/u/y686tf Libbymin 11-03-2020, 10:58 AM There are projects around the house that I'll watch a video about and attempt myself but I do not like doing most things electrical for this very reason. Electricity is scary as hell. I know I couldn't do what those guys do. KTB 11-03-2020, 12:26 PM Linemen are usually injured when someone has a generator hooked up incorrectly (illegally) and back feeds the line. My brother is still without power and OG&E is saying it should be restored by Friday. |
