Which establishment serves your favorite cole slaw in the Metro?
View Full Version : Best cole slaw Celebrator 05-21-2020, 11:07 PM Which establishment serves your favorite cole slaw in the Metro? Brad72 05-22-2020, 07:25 AM I love really creamy coleslaw. But I pretty much only eat it with fried catfish and occasionally with BBQ. I can't stand the crunchy less creamy stuff. I seem to enjoy it most from KFC, Charlestons and Grill on the Hill. TheTravellers 05-22-2020, 09:35 AM Don't usually eat it except with BBQ, but Jack's BBQ on 39th has some really good garlic slaw (supposedly "famous"). Bill Robertson 05-22-2020, 08:48 PM I really like KFC's and Long John Silver's. Jersey Boss 05-22-2020, 10:27 PM I always prefered the slaw that was served at HERMAN'S. Vinegar based, no mayo. Laramie 05-22-2020, 11:44 PM Grandy's Cole Slaw. TheTravellers 05-23-2020, 12:42 AM I always prefered the slaw that was served at HERMAN'S. Vinegar based, no mayo. Yes, I will second this, never had the original, but have eaten the version that Uptown Grocery has, which is spicy and really awesome. Can be inconsistent, but when it's on, it's great. thunderbird 05-23-2020, 02:27 PM Kamps meat market on N Western is my favorite. Dustin 05-23-2020, 04:48 PM Hefner Grill on the lake. Best I've ever had from a restaurant. ctchandler 05-23-2020, 08:46 PM Jersey Boss, You're showing your age, I think they closed in the 70's. C. T. SouthSide 05-23-2020, 09:33 PM I always prefered the slaw that was served at HERMAN'S. Vinegar based, no mayo. The Garage serves "Herman's" slaw. It is vinegar based. Bill Robertson 05-24-2020, 01:37 PM The Garage serves "Herman's" slaw. It is vinegar based. And it is pretty good. We're gonna have to start going back to The Garage. TheTravellers 05-24-2020, 02:21 PM And it is pretty good. We're gonna have to start going back to The Garage. IMO, the Uptown Grocery version of Herman's slaw is better than The Garage's. I've had Uptown's about 4 times and The Garage's twice, and both times The Garage's wasn't as juicy nor as tasty/spicy as Uptown's. Beware, it may take a few trips to get it, the one in The Village doesn't always have it in stock. Jersey Boss 05-24-2020, 08:18 PM Jersey Boss, You're showing your age, I think they closed in the 70's. C. T. I believe it was in the late 70's shortly after I relocated here. Bill Robertson 05-25-2020, 12:28 PM CREST has it in the deli area. OK. And I’ve been cheating a bit lately and going there for groceries. Celebrator 05-25-2020, 10:48 PM Thanks for the suggestions! I bought Herman's at UpTown today and really liked it. It was a nice change of pace from a more creamy-based slaw. Appreciate you all for weighing-in! Teo9969 05-26-2020, 12:35 PM Cole Slaw might be my number 1 food for the GIF where it says "How to best prepare/eat ______ food" and then you just open up the trash can and throw it away. I'm repulsed by the fact that this thread exists :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: |
