OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - INTEGRIS will close Baptist Medical Center Portland Ave., also known as Deaconess, with the exception of the emergency room and some Radiology and infusion services in order to consolidate resources during the coronavirus pandemic.

"INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center Portland Ave. is an extension of the INTEGRIS Baptist campus with the same leadership team. The postponement of non-emergent surgeries and procedures has led to a declining census at both facilities. In an effort to better consolidate our resources we are temporarily closing the Portland Ave. building with the exception of the emergency room, it will remain open, and limited outpatient services. We fully anticipate that if and when we see a surge of COVID-19 patients in Oklahoma City, we will be reopening this campus."

There are currently 32 hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the INTEGRIS system and five INTEGRIS patients have died from the illness.

Five of the largest metro hospital systems have voluntarily chosen to postpone elective surgical procedures back in March.

Hospital officials agree that postponing elective procedures that are safe to delay will protect patients and providers while helping hospital preserve supplies of personal protective equipment and provide capacity for critically-ill patients.

INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Outpatient Rehabilitation is now offering video therapy visits to meet the needs of patients requiring physical, occupational and/or speech therapy.

As I posted on the economic impact thread, this seems like it was already planned and Integris just taking advantage of bailout possibility.
I did see where all VPs and above took a 20% pay cut.

Integris just bought Deaconess in 2018, so I hope this is just temporary.

As fate would have it, I had one of the very last elective surgeries right before they closed that operation. They do a tremendous amount of out-patient procedures there; I was surprised at the size of their surgery center. Especially because the only other surgery I ever had was also at Deaconess when I had an emergency appendectomy at age 16, which was over 40 years ago.

Yes, but Baptist has huge outpatient surgery too. I was suspicious after that merger when they laid off 700 staff. My guess is they pivot the property to rehab hospital with PT/OT and they will push all primary and acute care to Baptist.
My only basis for that thought is Integris bought out all the old Alliance doc practices in the Physicians Building and folded them all into clinics over at Baptist.

About 4 months ago, I had an unplanned stay at Baptist.

I started off in the ER and it took the better part of the day before they could find an open room. And I had long waits to get the necessary tests. I asked several people there who all said they are generally at capacity.

But given the close proximity, it would make sense to have the two facilities complement each other, as I'm sure there is much duplication.
