View Full Version : March 2020 - General Weather Discussion
Anonymous. 03-02-2020, 04:28 PM Quiet start to March. Storm system that looked like it would bring heavy rain to large part of state now appears like it will only affect far southern OK tomorrow night into Wednesday.
Otherwise for C OK, highs in the 60s and lows in 40s this week with that slight chance at rain Wednesday.
Anonymous. 03-11-2020, 09:43 AM Mild today and tomorrow.
Friday cools off with rain spreading into the area from the SW. Rain likely to last through early Saturday. Weekend temperatures look like low 60s with clouds.
Off and on rain chances next week looks likely.
Anonymous. 03-16-2020, 12:45 PM Slight chance of severe weather late Tuesday, best shot is down in SW OK where more warming may occur.
Wednesday will be a large area of severe storm chances as main storm system comes out across the area. SPC outlining slight risk to basically the western half of OK, including OKC.
Temperatures fall off heading into the weekend with the backside of the storm coming in from the north. We may hit freezing temperatures Saturday morning.
At this time, Central OK is at 134% of normal rainfall year-to-date. Which is great news for fire season and grow season. RIP to allergy sufferers.

I've had the question "is it allergies or covid 19" come up in my mind more times than I like to admit. Gotta love oklahoma!

Motley 03-17-2020, 03:25 PM Pouring rain and a strong thunderstorm in Jackson county now.
Anonymous. 03-17-2020, 03:57 PM Rain and storms moving in from the SW, it will be a rainy evening in OKC.
Clear out tomorrow before chance of severe storms late. Main threat at this time looks like damaging winds
Anonymous. 03-18-2020, 08:39 AM SPC moved Enhanced Risk to encompass SW 1/4 of OK. Looks like hotspot will be south-central OK. If these low level clouds can clear out to sunshine, the risk could be higher further north.

Anonymous. 03-18-2020, 06:09 PM A few isolated storms developing ahead of the main show that will come through after midnight.
C_M_25 03-18-2020, 09:33 PM I just want to give a shout out to fox 25’s Jeff George. I noticed this during one of his winter weather forecasts and again tonight. He does such a great job explaining the forecast without overblowing it. He may not have the best tech, but the way he communicates is top notch.
Anonymous. 03-18-2020, 10:11 PM Storms are here early. Flash flooding is the main suspect.
Anonymous. 03-19-2020, 08:34 PM Cold front blasting through NW OK right now. Tomorrow will be cold with strong N winds. Saturday morning will be a freeze.
Sunday into next week things moderate.
OKC Guy 03-19-2020, 08:40 PM I had a ton of rain in NW Okc last night
brian72 03-19-2020, 08:51 PM It was a Frog Strangler for sure
Anonymous. 03-23-2020, 04:14 PM Slight chance of a line of storms coming through C OK late tonight, but the best shot will be across NE OK.

BoulderSooner 03-24-2020, 07:59 AM really hard rain came through at about 520 this morning ..
Anonymous. 03-25-2020, 06:38 PM Record highs are in the cards for Thursday. OKC area will be around 90F. Could see a stray 100 in SW OK. Most storm chances will be focus around NE OK unless things shift.
Beautiful weekend coming up with highs in the low 70s.
Next storm shot for C OK looks to be Monday evening.
Anonymous. 03-26-2020, 09:53 AM Outside shot at some dryline storm action Friday night here along the I-35 corridor, it will depend heavily on the boundary location - and if storms can even develop.
snark0leptic 03-26-2020, 08:25 PM So before storm season really gets rolling, I'd like to take a minute and shamelessly plug a Discord server I set up a while ago since the Chatroll service could only hold 10 people max for real-time events:

11pm ish, if at all.
brian72 03-27-2020, 01:05 PM Severe Thunderstorm Warning Oklahoma County.
snark0leptic 03-27-2020, 01:14 PM Those cells north of Chickasha are trending the same way, but right through the metro.
Anonymous. 03-27-2020, 01:21 PM Surprise thunderstorms have developed immediately west of OKC.
West sides of Edmond will be hit with the lead cell. Two more following behind that are taking similar pathing, maybe slightly further south.
Focus will likely be W/NW OKC.
Storms are showing some rotation. This will bring the primary threat of hail up.
Anonymous. 03-27-2020, 01:27 PM Edmond is taking solid hail damage right now on the northern sides.
Next two storms coming up have smaller hail (for now)
Pea-sized hail at my house near 50 Penn.
I was out cutting the grass and had to run for cover!

Man, you and Swake need to start spraying your lawns, mine's still completely brown and I probably won't have to mow for another month. :D

How is that a surprise? It is Spring, not Winter
Anonymous. 03-27-2020, 02:08 PM Surprise as in models did not forecast development in C OK this early in the day.
OKC is in the clear now, could still see the dryline action later on, as mentioned earlier - although the chances are low.

It definitely caught us by surprise in NE Edmond... I was out picking up food with no worries of hail damage but my wife's car got hit pretty good. My neighbors were all very surprised and frustrated too.
crimsoncrazy 03-28-2020, 03:54 AM Hopefully the models catch up as spring goes along. They are blowing it so far.
Anonymous. 03-30-2020, 10:57 AM Rain and thunderstorms are increasing in coverage across all of W and SW OK, these will continue to spread into C OK by late lunchtime.
Main threat will be localized flash-flooding.
Temperatures will be knocked down into the 60s with this storm, we will return to 70s by late week when our next shot at thunderstorms comes around.
OkiePoke 03-30-2020, 03:26 PM Any idea when the rain will let up?
SEMIweather 03-30-2020, 03:44 PM Any idea when the rain will let up?
Late tonight. It will probably be cloudy tomorrow morning, then gradually clearing throughout the day.
