Founded in 1960, the family-owned company operates 63 stores in 5 states.
Plans have been submitted for a large 63,169 square foot store on the northeast corner of SW 15th and Czech Hall Road.
As they've grown as a company, Atwoods has added several product lines and now features clothing, footwear, farm & ranch, pet, tools & hardware, lawn & garden, power equipment and automotive, outdoor recreation, home and outdoor living.

The new location shows a large garden center as part of the 1.346-acre development.
In the era of big-box national chain stores, Atwoods prides itself on friendly staff and customer service while offering competitive pricing.

FighttheGoodFight 09-03-2019, 10:08 AM If it is like all the other Atwoods it will do really well. Always busy
Zuplar 09-03-2019, 10:37 AM Excellent. Looking forward to this.
chuck5815 09-03-2019, 11:55 AM Interesting to see that Atwoods bought the land. Would have thought they would be more interested in a build-to-suit type situation.
Plutonic Panda 09-03-2019, 01:20 PM Was there not one in Norman?

There is still one in Norman.

That's what I thought. So this is store is only new to OKC proper?

Correct.
Soonerman 09-03-2019, 06:23 PM Atwood's will be a very nice add to OKC and something not yet there.
rezman 09-03-2019, 07:53 PM There are several locations around Oklahoma. I visited the one in Shawnee a long time ago. It’s kind of like Tractor Supply, but bigger.
mkjeeves 09-03-2019, 10:05 PM Yea! I've shopped at many of the locations around the state. Didn't there used to be one in Yukon at Vandament and Garth Brooks? If not, there was a similar farm store there for a short period of time.

They usually go into buildings vacated by Walmart or Kmart etc, But I noticed that they're building more ground up stores now.

They announced one for Ardmore last year but I have yet to see any movement on the lot..... Plenty of competition for that type of store down there already though with Agri-Products, Tractor Supply, McCoy's, and Orshcheln's already in town.
Zuplar 01-08-2020, 08:19 AM In the Mustang paper today it says a new Atwoods is being built in Yukon off of NW10th and West End Pointe Dr. Says it will be between Okie Express and Avid Hotel.
So does that mean that this one on Czech Hall is no longer? I can't imagine them building 2 this close.
Is this store still being built? If so, any info on opening date?

They are building one just up the road in Westend Point in Yukon. It should be completed real soon.
NavySeabee 08-21-2024, 05:27 AM I don't know if this was posted elsewhere. Atwoods has filed a demolition permit at 3000 E. Memorial Rd. This is the site of the former FoodWorld/Piggly Wiggly/ MaxCare also known as Eagle Crest Center.

Never knew OKC had a Piggly Wiggly
stlokc 08-21-2024, 08:23 AM Wow. This is a funny blast from the past. My very first job, as a high school student, was as a sacker and later as a checker, at that grocery store in that shopping center, which was "Ray's Super Thrift" at the time. This was 1990-1992.
I believe it was a Food World before it was Ray's but I don't remember a Piggly Wiggly there.
I learned a lot about life in that store and at that time!
FighttheGoodFight 08-21-2024, 08:41 AM I was actually good family friends with Ray. This is a great location for Atwoods. Should do really well.
jn1780 08-21-2024, 04:41 PM I wonder if the "Scooby doo Snow Cone" stand is also going away?
Soonerman 08-22-2024, 05:33 AM So Edmonds getting an Atwoods I'm guessing
scottk 08-22-2024, 07:38 AM Interesting location, for Memorial and Bryant, as most other retail in this area is a mile north along Blvd/33rd/Broadway.
For reference, this is in Oklahoma City, just south of Edmond proper city limits. Ever since the Blockbuster and grocery store went out, this shopping center has been mostly vacant. Area around it is primarily residential, and Oklahoma Christian University.
Wonder if Atwoods would be a contender for the soon to be vacant Dick's Sporting Goods at Penn/Memorial?

Back in the day it was a place called Moonlight Video and had a little sno cone window. Then Blockbuster came in later. That area has grown a lot over the years and this Atwoods should bring in some more business I'm sure.

How big is the Dick's Sporting Goods on Memorial and Penn? Because I believe you're average Atwoods store is 63,000 square feet.
These are the plans for 33rd & Bryant in Edmond:

I always thought Edmond could use an Atwoods because of the north side of the Metro don't really have an Atwoods, I knew Norman has had one for years and they recently opened stores in Yukon and Mustang.
I like Atwoods. One nice thing is if you are buying several big bags of the lawn and garden material they stack outside they send one of their young men who look like they go to the gym everyday out to load it for you in your truck.

Atwood's is awesome, It's one of my favorite stores.
I didn't realize this old Eagle Crest shopping center was completely empty.

FighttheGoodFight 08-22-2024, 03:19 PM Yes. PPOK moved out last year to Britton Road
stlokc 08-22-2024, 03:31 PM As I wrote above, I worked there a long time ago. But it's been 25 years at least since I've even driven by there, as my parents moved from Edmond to Quail Creek after I left for college. I can't believe they never built anything between the shopping center and the bank to the east. Such a strange layout on that parcel with that vacant land in the middle all this time.
Really, what a depressingly boring intersection all the way around LOL.
