Work has started to put in a street for a proposed project called Remington Town Center just to the west of Remington Park.

I spoke with the property owner some time ago and at that time didn't want to provide details. I believe the plan is to sell off parcels for developers. Hoping to land a hotel and some other uses.

I fully agree with you about the zoo lot/new entrance idea - they've needed to do something for awhile. Perhaps some structured parking at Remington?

If Remington was to add new development such as a hotel, my understanding is that they have targeted the open area at the northwest corner of their property, close to MLK and I-44.

I recall hearing about a large development planned for the east side of Remington. After the I-35 service roads, on ramps, creek rerouting, etc. Sometime within the next 3-5 years?

I-35 will be widened to six lanes and many or all of the bridges replaced. That project begins in 2024, IIRC. I am not sure if the service roads will be reconfigured but they need to be. I imagine at the very least they will be resurfaced if not fully reconstructed.

The project to redesign and reconstruct the I-35/I-44 interchange is under-construction and is currently in phase one.

I think *most* is quite a stretch. I've never seen any cars in the North West corner of the lot & I've been to the Zoo during some of the busiest days its ever had.

You get a hotel in this area; then you'll really see development take root. Old Route 66 with lots of tourism that includes the Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, Omniplex, OKC Zoo, Zoo Amphitheater, Firefighters Museum, Remington Park, Softball Hall of Fame & Museum, Don E. Porter ASA Hall of Fame Stadium will be a winner. Wouldn't be surprised to see as many as 3 hotels in the area once the 1st one gets built.

Oaklawn over at Hot Springs just recently announced a hotel to be built overlooking the track. 7 stories tall I think with a nice size events center attached to be completed in late 2020.

I think that a hotel will be eventually built at Remington, but it is likely going to be a few years before that happens. Also the likelihood of the zoo closing off their parking lots is remote, and for them to move their full-time parking to Remington's lots would require a renegotiation of a lease that has decades left on it.

Overlooked the boutique hotel piece Town Center. This could be the spark to ignite a few 100-250 room hotel-motel types on Route 66 mother road.

Don't know how many of the collegiate softball teams would take advantage of the inexpensive motel-hotel venues; however it would offer fans that follow the WCWS a place to rest & refresh with more money to spend in the Adventure District.

L o n g overdue!

You really couldn't ask for a better development. Two hotels(much needed here), restaurants, some apartments, single family, and I really hope a lot of it is black owned. This area of town needs more opportunities for the community to start businesses and rebuild the wealth much of which was lost due to racists. I can't wait to see this break ground.

This project has always been conceptual.

The current owners are merely showing what they'd like to see happen as they try and sell parcels.

The proposed site plan pictured above is based on a feasibility study which was conducted to identify major needs of the area. The state chamber of commerce has approved these plans and are favorable to the proposed development. Remington Park also supports this project and is in need of hotels/ condos for top clients. The NCAA softball teams come to town each year to play in the World Series and resort to the hotels downtown, consistently voicing the need for accommodations closer to the Softball Complex.

The Adventure District’s closest hotel of choice is the Marriott Waterford, which is more than 15 minutes away from the area! The Remington Park horse owners and crews that come to town have limited options when to comes to staying near the race tracks. Most resort to having to stay at a nearby trailer park.

These are merely conceptual plans and he's trying to sell parcels to others who would do any building.

I could be wrong but I don't think the development will be very successful going that route. I know money doesn't grow on trees but they should phase it out and start building, IMHO.

With the popularity of the WCWS and the proximity of Remington Park whose parking lot is used for WCWS parking, you would have thought that a developer-investor or The Tribe itself would have taken advantage of this parcel.

The Universities of Oklahoma & Texas move to the Southeastern Conference could result in the SEC softball tournament being moved from Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa to USA Hall of Fame Stadium in OKC.

Having one or two nice hotels (200 - 400 rooms with expansion possibilities) on site would benefit Remington Park & Casino along with the annual WCWS and possibly the Southeastern Conference annual softball tournament being moved to Oklahoma City as a prelude to the WCWS tournament.

The SEC softball tournament is played in Tuscaloosa (Capacity: 3,940) vs a much larger off campus neutral site USA Hall of Fame Stadium (Capacity: 11,500 - 12,600). This on campus facility favors the University of Alabama.

Imagine the benefits of a hotel or two in The Adventure District. Patrons could spend the night at Remington Park (especially those having mixed drinks) without having to leave the premises after an evening or night of drinking. The teams and fans of the SEC and WCWS could shorten their drive and be within walking distance of Hall of Fame Stadium.

I can't believe no one has asked the most vital question. If they build all that, where will everyone park when it comes to zoo/smo overflow and wcws?

Well if you're worried, take heart in knowing that almost no conceptual art like this ever ends up getting developed in the way its drawn.

For one thing, who wants to own (and build) a single family home in the middle of all that mess? The artist is, IMO, over estimating the amount of development interest in this particular area. At least as far as the type that is being suggested in the drawing.

I think the Chickasaw are going to develop the north and east side of the track. I recall they control all the way to I-35 on the east. I'm guessing they would prefer to wait for the I-35 overhaul in that area to be finished (or at least more fully defined in regards to access and timeline) but would move more quickly if conditions warrant.

A hotel study was conducted a few years ago, and while the results were promising, building it was contingent upon Remington Park getting additional gaming. With the highly publicized battle between our governor and the tribes over the state gaming compact renewal, any chance of gaming expansion (i.e. table games or additional slot machines) at Remington Park went out the window. The new compact lasts 15 years, so it may not be until 2035 before a discussion of a hotel restarts. Unfortunately, the softball world series doesn't last long enough to justify a hotel. Also, Remington Park has an ocean of parking lots that are underutilized as well as plenty of undeveloped land on its current property, so there is very little interest in the adjacent parcel.
