If anyone could offer a recommendation for a dryer vent cleaning service here in OKC, I'd appreciate it. I have a fairly long vent through the roof so there's no way I can reach it all myself. I think I just blew a dryer thermal fuse because the duct is so clogged up.

Thanks!!

Hey Sooner, I don’t know anyone in particular that does this, but I ran into the same issue on our last house. I didn’t throw a thermal overload, but what got my attention was the top of the drier was so hot it was glowing red. But never shut off !

As it turned out, the dyer vent pipe itself wasn’t clogged. It was the bird screen in the rain cap up on the roof that was clogged. I took the cover apart and cleaned it out well with a shop vac. Also, using the small diameter shop vac hose, I started at the top and sent the hose down the vent pipe and worked it up and down as I lowered it. That way, anything I knocked loose and didn’t pick up would fall as I cleaned and would be picked up later at the bottom.

I went as far as I could, and then went down into the laundry room and started there. Cleaned out the dryer, hose, wall conection, everything I could, and it worked and everything ran fine after that. But I did make sure to check it periodicly.

This is why I am not a big fan of roof top dryer vents.
