We thought their food was adequate, not great, but sufficient for when we didn't want to cook or drive very far. But, within the first two years, they stopped selling the sandwich I liked (a really good Turkey melt) and the pizza my wife liked (one of those abominations with Alfredo sauce, instead of tomato sauce).

Not sure what is going on at the old Abuelo's on Memorial.

Someone started painting the building pink but there were no signs of active work inside or out. Also, no type of permit has been filed for that property.

There is word that The Drake is Closing this year. If so, I will be very sad! Looks like the website is already down. Sheesh

Drake Seafood and Oysterette will be closing its doors in the Uptown 23rd District on
Saturday, February 1st after its final dinner service.

and the vibrant Oklahoma City community, your support and shared love of seafood have

The Drake Seafood and Oysterette will be open until February 1st for any guests who would
like to say their farewells one last time.

Not surprised, we went for the first time after the pandemic recently and it wasn't nearly as good as it was pre-pandemic.

They kept cutting their hours. Stopped lunch altogether.

More recently they were only open for dinner for 5 days a week.

To no one's surprise, the last TGI Fridays in Oklahoma has closed on NW Expressway.

That site was the first Oklahoma location of Chi-Chi's, which was quite the sensation in the 70s and 80s (last photo).

It was also the notorious Yucatan Liquor Stand for awhile, where a patron was shot dead in the parking lot.

I saw A Flock of Seagulls at the Yucatan Liquor Stand. Must have been around '92 or '93.

I believe that chain said they were gonna be closing a bunch of restaurants anyways.

Bar Next Door (Uptown) is closing Feb. 1.

Yeah, that’s the one I went to as well. I think it was at some point in the 2000s. I think its days are numbered.

Yeah, that’s the one I went to as well. I think it was at some point in the 2000s. I think its days are numbered.The one at Quail was torn down a couple years ago and replaced with a Cheddar's, thankfully.

That would be tough as heck if it re-opened as The Lamar.

I wonder if these the Drake and Bar Next Door are closing in anticipation of the construction work that is planned for both 23rd and Walker. I dont know if that is coming very soon or is still a year or two away. But if you have a 10 year lease with 2-3 years of bad business guaranteed it seems like a no brainer to close.

I cant see them staging the rebuild like they did in Paseo or the Britton

My biggest complaint about Syrup? Not enough emphasis on the syrup. They never leaned into it, which was surprising considering the name of the place.

I’m convinced that Pappadeaux is a huge recruiting advantage for TCU, Houston, etc.

It’s ridiculously clutch.

I ate at the syrup midtown location once and that was enough. Food wasn't very good and the servce was flat out garbage. Won't miss it.
