But, within the first two years, they stopped selling the sandwich I liked (a really good Turkey melt) and the pizza my wife liked (one of those abominations with Alfredo sauce, instead of tomato sauce). corwin1968 12-11-2024, 08:50 AM I am not very surprised, I was very disappointed with their pizza so I never went back We thought their food was adequate, not great, but sufficient for when we didn't want to cook or drive very far. Pete 12-11-2024, 09:29 AM Not sure what is going on at the old Abuelo's on Memorial. Someone started painting the building pink but there were no signs of active work inside or out. Also, no type of permit has been filed for that property. HTTP://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/abuelos121024a.jpg OkieBerto 01-13-2025, 09:51 AM There is word that The Drake is Closing this year. If so, I will be very sad! Looks like the website is already down. Sheesh Pete 01-13-2025, 09:58 AM The Drake website is up and they just posted on social media a few days ago. https://www.thedrakeokc.com/ I reached out to Keith Paul to see what he has to say. Strange, it wasn't working when I posted that. Thanks for checking on that! Pete 01-13-2025, 11:04 AM Keith said they will be making an announcement today. TheTravellers 01-13-2025, 03:43 PM Not surprised, we went for the first time after the pandemic recently and it wasn't nearly as good as it was pre-pandemic. Pete 01-13-2025, 04:42 PM They kept cutting their hours. Stopped lunch altogether. More recently they were only open for dinner for 5 days a week. Pete 01-15-2025, 02:45 PM To no one's surprise, the last TGI Fridays in Oklahoma has closed on NW Expressway. That site was the first Oklahoma location of Chi-Chi's, which was quite the sensation in the 70s and 80s (last photo). It was also the notorious Yucatan Liquor Stand for awhile, where a patron was shot dead in the parking lot. Must have been around '92 or '93. Plutonic Panda 01-15-2025, 02:53 PM I believe that chain said they were gonna be closing a bunch of restaurants anyways. Pete 01-15-2025, 02:53 PM Bar Next Door (Uptown) is closing Feb. 1. Plutonic Panda 01-15-2025, 02:55 PM I honestly can’t even remember the last time I went to TGI Fridays. I can tell you the last time I’ve been to an Applebee’s, but not a Friday’s. ManAboutTown 01-15-2025, 02:56 PM I honestly can’t even remember the last time I went to TGI Fridays. I can tell you the last time I’ve been to an Applebee’s, but not a Friday’s.The last time I went to TGI Fridays was to the one at Quail Springs Mall. It was dirty and disgusting and very poorly managed. Plutonic Panda 01-15-2025, 03:02 PM The last time I went to TGI Fridays was to the one at Quail Springs Mall. It was dirty and disgusting and very poorly managed. Yeah, that’s the one I went to as well. I think it was at some point in the 2000s. I think its days are numbered. bamarsha 01-15-2025, 03:30 PM We used to go to Friday's on NW Expressway every couple weeks or so... close to the office. Wasn't that bad, but wasn't great either. I think the last Applebee's I've been in was back in Tulsa over 20 years ago (but not sure). I wonder if The Drake will reopen as The Lamar, since they say he won the battle? ManAboutTown 01-15-2025, 03:45 PM Yeah, that’s the one I went to as well. I think it was at some point in the 2000s. Plutonic Panda 01-15-2025, 03:56 PM Oh, that’s right I still haven’t been to cheddars I need to try them. Libbymin 01-15-2025, 07:36 PM Man, tough month for the Uptown 23rd area. That would be tough as heck if it re-opened as The Lamar. josefromtulsa 01-16-2025, 08:34 AM Man, tough month for the Uptown 23rd area. I wonder if these the Drake and Bar Next Door are closing in anticipation of the construction work that is planned for both 23rd and Walker. I dont know if that is coming very soon or is still a year or two away. But if you have a 10 year lease with 2-3 years of bad business guaranteed it seems like a no brainer to close. I cant see them staging the rebuild like they did in Paseo or the Britton mugofbeer 01-16-2025, 10:04 AM To no one's surprise, the last TGI Fridays in Oklahoma has closed on NW Expressway. DoctorTaco 01-21-2025, 08:15 AM Syrup just posted on their instagram that today was their last day after 7 years. My biggest complaint about Syrup? Not enough emphasis on the syrup. They never leaned into it, which was surprising considering the name of the place. April in the Plaza 01-21-2025, 10:38 AM I’m convinced that Pappadeaux is a huge recruiting advantage for TCU, Houston, etc. It’s ridiculously clutch. Mr. XXL 01-24-2025, 05:21 PM I ate at the syrup midtown location once and that was enough. Food wasn't very good and the servce was flat out garbage. Won't miss it.
