I'd expect it would, as a full-service hotel.

The "We're chalking up..." makes me think they're bringing The Chalkboard concept from Tulsa.

Confirmed on Instagram. It will be The Chalkboard.

The Chalkboard in Tulsa is good. A little less specialized than Cafe Cuvee is which is probably easier for a hotel restaurant.

The Chalkboard has a great rep and has been continuously operating for quite some time, so these are good things.

Driving down NW 23rd Street this evening and realized that Egg Roll King has closed. They were king of an icon there. Not sure I have ever had anything but an egg roll there but they were tasty.

That's too bad. Man when I worked in the area a co-worker/friend of mine would eat there several times per month for lunch. Super good.

The former First Bite Café at 2620 W Memorial Rd (Closed on April 14th) has just been sold for $1,650,000. This 3,150 sq ft building on a 0.72-acre lot is set to become home to a new to market national restaurant concept. The Price Edwards Retail Investment Team - George Williams, CCIM and Paul Ravencraft represented the seller in the transaction.

The Hooters on Pennsylvania just south of the Kilpatrick Turnpike is closing or has already closed. They closed on the 17th. The store never had much business at all. I was told about 5 years ago that corporate had signed a 10 year lease on the building and as soon as the lease was up they would be gone.

That's actually true. Just one more case of "They were really good and the prices were reasonable". But no one went there.

A "maybe" restaurant closing? Hacienda Tacos started Cinco De Mayo commercials on The Animal today. They only name the Northpark location. The website also doesn't list the Midtown location now. I don't get to Midtown often so I don't know but the commercial and website makes me wonder.

I confirmed they closed the Midtown location a couple of weeks ago.

I suppose this somewhat coincides with the new Mexican Radio taking the old Louie's spot, as both Plaza Court and the Louie's building are owned by Midtown Renaissance.

Apologies if not applicable to restaurant closings, but I noticed the no gas 711 on 59th and May closed a few days ago. Any idea of what they’re doing to that space? Thanks

Welcome to the site!

7-Eleven does not own that property and they have been systematically closing all those stores while investing in local expansion or remodels.

It's kind of sad to see these old-schools stores close because as crappy as they are, they remind of my childhood.

Totally agree. As a kid we would go to the one pump 7-11 on Britton and Rockwell. Nothing like riding your bike home with a Suicide Slurpee.

I was hoping they would move to Louie's after it shut down, but I guess I will just go back to eating at the Northpark location.

What is wrong with way too big for them? Do you rather they have a tiny space instead?

I assume they mean the one just south of Memorial on Penn on the east side of the street. I believe it is in front of the Sam's or Wal-Mart.

What is wrong with way too big for them? Do you rather they have a tiny space instead? No, but the location at Nortpark has a great bar area and seems to be the perfect space for them. The space in Midtown had a small bar area and a huge dining area that was never full. Just seemed like wasted space.

Not all Hal Smith locations were closed --- spoke with the general manager at Pub W in South Tulsa. He told me they were not closed (I came in for dinner), but one of their cooks said she wanted to participate and arranged for someone to cover her shift. He also said that if they are missing cooks, the management will step in and work the line, at least at his location. He also said a lot of the closures were determined last minute due to the cooks and back of the house people calling in.

That's a shame that had to happen... it is disrespectful to loyal customers, and even more so to bartenders and servers who lost their shifts because of this issue.

I agree it was a hard day for those working without a shift. However, without immigrants, our restaurants would likely not have enough people to run a profitable business. The law may cause people to be profiled and arrested for no reason. This would be the same for many different types of businesses in Oklahoma.

Going back to Red Lobster, They officially filed for bankruptcy. Maybe they will be stronger once once they can fully drop Thai Union? Sounds like they were more interested in being an exclusive supplier than actually running a successful business.

I'm pretty sure I read that Thai Union entirely divested itself of Red Lobster.

The more I read about RL, the more it seems to me they got kinda fleeced.

Before the Vintage Mall took over most of the place, ND Foods would have a super long line for lunch during the week. I remember waiting in line for 30 minutes sometimes to get a sandwich. It was always worth the wait. Gonna miss this place.

I LOVED ND Foods back in the day, but they seemed to be struggling the last few times I went. You'd order a sandwich which they either didn't have that day or were asked to substitute either the bread or cheese or something else because they were out of that too. And the dessert case which used to be full of cakes, brownies, and cookies was maybe down to one row filled if even that.

ND Foods is really great! I ordered a Strawberry Cake last Thanksgiving to take to a gathering, and it was nothing but raves! Best strawberry cake hands down. Their sandwiches are great too! I hate to see them close and wish Nick and Delores the best of luck! This place had quality food!
