Just to make the above post a little more clear... it's just the I-240 location that closed today... All others remain open.

Ah that sucks, they were right around the corner from my place. Always thought they had a decent burger and loved their onion rings. At least there's still the one nearby in Moore.

Wasn't that building originally a Shoney's back in the day?

no... i'm pretty certain that was built in the early-to-mid 80's as johnnie's. i think they used that same floorplan for other locations around town.

there was a shoney's on i-240 and penn in the 90's... that building is now occupied by hooters.

Boomerang Grille in Moore announced they are permanently closed as of Monday. They were originally located at SW 89th and Western until the landlords pushed them out of their lease prior to a major remodel, favoring a Goodwill sales center in the space. They had occupied the Moore space on Eastern for a couple of years but just couldn't bring in the customers.

Probably the wrong thread to ask this. But does anyone know anything about Fox and Rye that was in the works at 15th and Broadway in Edmond? I thought they were set to open in March, but there is still no activity. Just a handwritten note on the door that asks for patience. I don't have any social media presence, so I'm not sure if they have posted any updates elsewhere.

It could very well be that they are awaiting kitchen equipment.

Several operators have told me they have had to wait 6-9 months.

Mozz and Mari's last day is 9/10. Closing isn't financially motivated, and they plan to be back. Not sure when.

Apparently both Gogi Go locations have closed. Sad, as I really liked their kimchi and especially their fried tofu. Although I must say over the years the service at the Midtown location had gone way downhill. I had numerous instances of messed up and delayed orders. When I was last in a few weeks ago it was completely empty, completely dark behind the counter, and just overall kind of grim.

That's very sad for Midtown and The Edge, as apart from Commonplace Books, retail and restaurants have been a bit cursed.

I know the head chef at Gogi Go has been putting a lot of effort into Birdies.

In the Parlor is a relatively new place called Oh My Gogi:

Really? Everytime I go there, it is always busy but that really sucks though, their soup is good, I guess there is no more Boomerang Grille in Oklahoma?

And I believe they started offering MJ-infused pizzas at some point (obviously sold only through dispensaries), not sure if that ever got off the ground and if so, if it's still going. Last time we went there (a couple of years ago), they said they were trying to go nationwide with their grocery store offerings, so I'm not surprised they closed their physical restaurant.

I was driving up May Ave and saw the demolishment teardown of the Armando's Mexican Grill. No idea how long it's been empty, but it is now just a pile of rubble being hauled off.

This is on N May and NW 58th, just East across from Best Buy & Home Depot.

I was not going very frequently through my downtown lunch break rotation, but I think it is a loss.

Their concept was bad. Carry out spaghetti and meatball with garlic bread for $15? Domino's can undercut that. Hell, box of Barilla and jar of Ragu can undercut that and look better than the food photos their website had.

I saw a post on the Edmond Foodies FB Page (that is now deleted) from the owners that they had a family emergency and were looking to sell. It stated that from August 9 -Oct 9th that their Net Sales were $29k (not bad!) and were wanting to sell it for $60k.

Sounds like we might be in the minority, but I thought the concept was pretty cool. We tried it a few times and thought it was really good, hopefully, they find new owners!

I think Earls in general has been struggling the last few years. They closed the Moore location a year or two ago, and the last time we went to Bricktown it was only meh. The location on Reno east of Meridian looks like a perpetual ghost town.

Not sure what's up with them but things aren't good.

Cornish Smokehouse at SW 119th and Western has closed, with the owners shifting emphasis to the new Cornish Jerk House on the far north side. This wasn't totally surprising, as they had reduced operations to two days a week some time ago.

Good place, generous portions, sorry to see them go.

When I drove by the store and read the note taped to the front door, it said "Please visit us now at Cornish Jerk Grill at (new address)". There were stacked chairs, ladders in position to continue what appeared to me to be teardown work, and every visible indication to me they were no longer in operation. Wev eaten there a few times and their open hours have been consistently shrinking. Perhaps they've changed their mind.

We went to Earl's in Yukon late August and we were the only ones there when we arrived around 5:00. You order your food at the counter now and the manager brought it to our table. When I asked what happened to the waiters that used to take your order at the table he said they just can't get enough people to work there. It looked like just the manager and 2 other people working behind the counter. During our time there we saw 4 other people come in to eat.

I used to tell people for decades that Earl's cheddar burger was the best burger in OKC. It used to be a huge slab of meat with a ton of cheese on it and it was SO good. But I can't say that anymore. The last two-three times I've been, it's just been "decent," smaller, and a lot more expensive. There are just too many great burger options now for "decent" to be enough. Especially when I'm charged more for a disappointing meal.

BBQ game has changed in OKC since Earl's was the king of BBQ in OKC.

Earl's was never better than average but they had multiple, nice, locations so they were very visible. Didn't hurt that they were able to get "Best of" every year in the Gazette either.

I never had a bad meal there but I also never had a meal that made me crave going there.... And honestly I usually got the Prairie Fire Wings when we went there.

Their BBQ is pretty standard, as well as most of their sides, so I finally tried their burger and was impressed. Nice size, taste, and char on it - it's the only thing I'll eat there if I have to go there (family function, so had to go, but at least I can get what I consider decent food there :)).
