The full building permit has yet to be issued, so that would make sense.

As we know from his downtown project (with the asbestos), Rick Dowell is happy to do environmental remediation and then continue sitting on an undeveloped property forever.

That seems like the best case scenario for this property right now.

I just checked the building permit application and there has been no progress on this since August 2018.

What typically happens is the application is submitted and several weeks later the city puts the ball back in the applicant's court and waits for them to respond with additional info. In this case, the ball has been in Dowell's court for a year and a half.

So it's still super early for Dowell.

Just curious Pete, have you met Mr. Dowell/get any vibes from him? Any idea if he creeps on OKCTalk?

I've met him. IMO too old/old school. Don't think he could be bothered. Perhaps one of his employees would or something, but I would be very surprised to find he was one of us.

I've spoken to him at length several times.

He's a character. A former college professor.

I don't think he's an on-line type.

They freshly graded the lot but the building permit application has seen no action for two years:

I wonder how long they'll keep dilly dowelling before they file a permit.

He filed one a long time ago but has not done anything with it all this time.

He reminds me of my neighbor that has an overgrown yard with old appliances and junk scattered about - and every week he accumulates more. He swears when he has time he will get to working on all of those things and sell them. Except for, this guy does it with property. Collecting it to fix up, but never does.

I ran past this site last week hoping to see some progress (I jest), which I mention for no other reason than that it is fun to bump this thread from time to time.

Dowell actually canceled the building permit application he had filed for that atrocious proposed building.

That land will likely sit there forever, just like the Dowell Center in the middle of downtown.

How old is he and what will happen to his properties when he dies? As in, hoping his next-of-kin aren't like he is WRT this stuff and want to sell it/develop it properly.
