LUBBOCK, Texas — Noah Sifrit raced home on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning and Oklahoma State beat Texas Tech 6-5 on Saturday night to force a deciding Game 3 in the NCAA Super Regional.

After Sifrit led off the ninth by drawing a walk from Clayton Beeter (0-3), the Red Raiders made a pitching change. Taylor Floyd walked two more batters to load the bases and threw three wild pitches, the last ricocheting far enough from the plate for Sifrit to take off and safely dive in head-first to end the game.

Ben Leeper (4-3) allowed an unearned run while pitching the final 1 1/3 innings for Oklahoma State.

The Cowboys (40-20) led 5-4 after Colin Simpson hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. Tech (43-18) got even in the ninth, taking advantage of an error and an infield single before Brian Klein’s sacrifice fly.

Cowboys leadoff hitter Hueston Morrill was 3 for 3, including a two-run homer in the fifth.

Dru Baker drove in two runs for the Red Raiders, with a solo homer in the seventh and an RBI single an inning later.

OSU lost game 3 against Tech in the Super Regional so their season is over.

Texas Tech hosted this best of 3 game super regional; had this regional been in OKC or Stillwater, the Cowboys' chances to advance to Omaha would have been better. Oklahoma State Cowboys battled tested the Red Raiders who will be a good representative of the Big 12's power in collegiate baseball.

NCAA took unusual step of saying that at least 6 schools will receive notice of NCAA allegations regarding basketball programs in the coming future. OSU very likely to be one of those. Also KU.

Hovland is having a heck of a US Open. His final round still in progress but he has a bright future. He could set the 72 hole amateur scoring record held by Jack N. Beyond impressive (and this coming from a Sooner).:)

Hovland is really making a splash on the PGA tour. 64 today and is tied for 4th at 15 under at the time he finished his round. He was just interviewed on Golf Channel and is a really unassuming, polite kid. Very impressive.

Agreed. I've been pushing for one logo for a while now. Still wish it was the old oSu that was around during the 80s because I think that's the best looking logo. But I love that they got rid of the bevel a few years ago.

Absolutely agree. The bevel was terrible and the current look is much more clean. I'm still not a huge fan of the "brand" design and wish they would go back to the OSU 80s logo. It was simple, clean, and beautiful.

My bet is that Wolff will make the better pro between him and Hovland.

Well, Wolff won in just his third PGA Tour start yesterday. Not a knock against Hovland as he has been doing great since turning pro as well. Wolff drained a 26 foot eagle putt from just off the green of the 72nd hole to win by one.

^that was just an amazing finish yesterday. Bryson D makes Eagle and it appears Wolff needs birdie to get to a playoff. Nope - eagle for winner. The clip of Bryson is pretty classic - “Did he make it?”

Hovland shot 65 yesterday for another great finish. These guys are beyond impressive.

Late last week, The Oklahoman’s HR department informed me that due to a hiring freeze, the job offer I accepted on July 5 was being rescinded. Though blindsided and disappointed, It’s time to rediscover what is next. To those who have already reached out in support, thank you.

The guy who was going to be the new beat writer for OSU just posted that the Oklahoman has rescinded their offer as they are on a hiring freeze. Unless they just changed their mind about this guy and want someone else, this will mean OSU doesn't have a beat writer. I get that OU football is king in this state, but this is bull****.

An interesting story about Coach Gundy's son. To no surprise, he is considering going to OSU. To quote him from story:

“I like the idea of going to OSU,” Gunnar said. “I’ve been around it for a very long time – ever since I was a baby. I like Stillwater. I love OSU and the atmosphere and the people here. If I do get a chance to play here, I’d love it, but I’m still open to options. OSU kind of has my heart right now I’d say, because I do like the idea of staying here and playing.”

Going to OSU could put more pressure on himself or his father, but Gunnar knows that is part of the deal if he chooses to stay home.

“I think so, but I trust my dad will treat me like any other player, and I hope he does so, If that happens, then I hope that will work out. That would be pretty cool to play for him and have him coach me. He’s pretty much coached me my whole life, but actually having him in that position would be pretty cool for me and my family.”

Regardless of your political stance, it's pretty damn cool to have a former President throw out the first pitch of a brand new stadium. I was at OSU when W gave the commencement address. That was pretty cool as well.

And you're right about the ballpark, it's amazing. Robin Ventura also came back and is a student assistant coach (lol) and Matt Holliday came back and is a volunteer assistant coach. Josh Holliday has already done a good job since he's been hired and the future is looking even better.

When I first saw the headline I figured he was doing it as a tribute to Boone since they were friends. Turns out he's friends with Cecil O'Brate too who donated $35 million for the baseball stadium.

He was open about his alcoholism at a time when many people in sports were still told to hide their addictions. His struggle always came across as very real.

Pokes banned for a year from NCAA tournament. Three years probation. Level I violation involving former assistant head coach Lamont Evans (this is the same thing that has been investigated for some time now).

Also losing three scholarships for the next three seasons in addition to other recruiting restrictions.

Oklahoma State is filing an appeal.

"The NCAA also agreed that OSU did not benefit in recruiting, commit a recruiting violation, did not play an ineligible player, and did not display a lack of institutional control. As the report documents, OSU cooperated throughout the process, which lasted two years."

I hear that Kansas is in the cross hairs next, and that it may be big.

They will appeal but I seriously doubt it changes anything. Mizzou got hammered because of a rouge tutor taking some tests for a few players. They appealed and it drug out for months but nothing changed. The way it works these days is that you deny deny deny. Do not help the NCAA convict you. KU pretty much denying everything but they were caught elbow deep in the cookie jar. They should get somewhere between 3-5 year ban if it's comparable to what OSU just got handed.

Honest question, because I obviously have no idea what it is like to be a world class athlete, potential #1 pick.

Basketball specific...

If I am a guy like Cade, where any school will take me for one year, is it better to get to a school where I am without doubt the best player on the team...at the risk they don't make a super deep run into the tournament (let's just say OSU wasn't banned for the sake of this argument).

Or do I want to go to a power school (Duke, NC, Kentucky, etc) and still probably be the best player and make a realistic run to the title?

Lonzo went to UCLA, which I know historically is a basketball school, but is nowhere near a Duke or Kentucky now a days. Of course I always thought Ball went there because it was his hometown or something.
