it seemed to me that they are site prepping for at least three building adjacent to western. saw a few signs, one for a banc first, another one for alliance credit union, and another one unknown. i also saw great progress on what looks will be a corridor of shops along the old sears building's south facade. there's an area of approximately 3,000 SQF where foundation work is starting. it looks interesting that a lot of the old parking surface area can be transformed into something more useful and interesting and hopefully more green if they decide to plant a few trees around any potential new buildings.

The Sears building itself is being repurposed as a self-storage facility.

In addition to the old Sears being converted into a storage facility, the construction along Western is for a new Starbucks. Allegiance Credit Union will be in front of Vasa.

Between those two buildings is another parcel still for sale.

it'd be awesome if there could be some new retail built in front of the old sears now that it's a storage facility.

Indeed ! So many parts of south western are empty nowadays.
The new 7-11 is already an upgrade from the abandoned sears auto shop.

that's a lot of banks/credit unions... and i didn't realize that allegiance had a spinoff called 'alianza'... all of that indicates to me that banking institutions see growth opportunities among latin americans.

McDonald's has filed plans to build in front of the old Sears. It will be the same 34-seat design as the plans for 23rd & Meridian.

I believe this will still leave at least one lot between it and Starbucks. Gotta give the property owners credit, they have brought in a lot of popular uses and just about filled what had been a vacant property just a few years ago.

the commercial revival and redevelopment of this quadrant of the sw 44 & western intersection should have a positive effect on the reutilization and revival of the adjacent depressed corners like the former target building and the cvs store.

? on those indoor storage facilities. Are you allowed to drive vehicles inside those buildings right up to the door of the unit you are renting? If yes is there any limit on the size of vehicle?

Well... it depends. There's a central alleyway through that building that you can drive thru, and there are some units that directly front this alleyway. However, most units are down smaller hallways that branch off from the central alleyway. They do provide a limited number of free carts to help you move your stuff around the building though.

The alleyway and doors are pretty big; I was able to drive a 26' U-Haul through the building pretty easily.

McDonalds will be taking the spot between the Bancfirst and Starbucks. They filed permits for a new restaurant and dumpster enclosure.
