Frozen custard - wonder if it'll be Freddy's/Culver's-level or Kopp's-level? Hoping for Kopp's, but not expecting it, not many places have frozen custard that good.

TheTravellers 10-14-2021, 09:11 AM Such a missed opportunity for more green LED lighting downtown, which we are sorely lacking Pink would complement green nicely. :p David 10-14-2021, 09:58 AM Really glad to see this finally opening, I will have to give it a try sometime. Probably try that corndog. There's typically drink booths set up at a majority of the events at the Park (Concerts, farmer's markets, night markets, etc.). TheTravellers 10-26-2021, 12:09 PM Have you ever had Jared's in Bartlesville? It's the best I have ever. Nope, been in Bartlesville twice, but never knew about it, doubt we'll be there again to try it, though - we never get up that way for anything and now that we've stayed in Price Tower, not much need to go there again. Ever had any frozen custard from any place in Milwaukee (the experts in the country, apparently) to compare? TheTravellers 10-26-2021, 12:38 PM not to derail the thread... but, was it worth the trip? it's been on my 'list' for a while now. Yes, absolutely! We're fans of FLLW, though (toured his Oak Park house, both Taliesins (twice for West, one daytime, one nighttime), John Fahey concert at Unity Temple, multiple exhibitions and house tours), so we're biased. :) If you go, get one of the two-story rooms, and if you're tall, you might be miserable. I'm 5'9" and wife is shorter than that and it was fine for us, but if you're taller than me, it might not be fun due to the room sizes, staircase/elevator sizes, etc. shawnw 10-26-2021, 12:43 PM not to derail the thread... but, was it worth the trip? it's been on my 'list' for a while now. As an FYI, if you stay a night at Price Tower (def worth it), you get a free behind the scenes tour the public doesn't get. Worth it for that alone. We'll definitely try Spark's just because it's here in the city, thx. Have never found any that's the consistency and richness, as well as had the inventive combinations, of Kopp's, but it's not like we're on a quest for the best frozen custard, we haven't searched really hard, just tried the usual suspects (Culver's, Freddy's, etc.). Neither was the park though because of the weather. Was hoping this would be my go to spot before the thunder game but I wasn't blown away. Don't get me the burgers were great but pricey. I understand cause of their location it's going to be pricey but if I'm spending over $7 for a burger i need something bigger than a 1/4 pounder. Also $3 for fries that tasted like hot dogs. Yeah they tasted like hot dogs. Not sure if they are using the same fryer for their corn dogs bits and fries but I suspect that they are. 2 burgers 1 order of fries 2 drinks and 20% tip was just under $29. Just didn't seem like a good value. I know given their location it's going to be expensive but I'll take the street car up to S&B burger joint before weekday games and get more bang for my buck. Not sure what specials they currently have but they used to have $7 burger and fries on Tuesdays. Will I go back to sparks. Probably. I do want to try their shakes and their burgers were good and if I'm at the park yeah but I also won't go out of my way. sooner88 10-28-2021, 04:23 PM Went before the Lakers game. Pretty sure S&B's standard burgers are 1/3 lb, and their specialty ones are 1/2 lb, though, so not the same value if the Spark burger truly is 1/4 lb. kukblue1 10-28-2021, 05:10 PM That's pretty much the exact same pricing as Tucker's and S&B's (barring a special night), both of which I'd put in the same category.... S&B I think has slightly bigger burgers and they do run specials more or at least they used too. I enjoyed it, but it is indeed pricey. The burger I got seemed much smaller than a Tuckers. By the time I ate and left it had calmed down. shawnw 11-09-2021, 12:25 PM when the line gets long they have someone going through it as well with an order pad like how chick-fil-a does it. they take your number and text you when it's ready. haven't had to wait TOO terribly long yet to order at least. also if you forget to check your phone they'll eventually come find you with your food. Honestly I haven't been back since the first open I have just been going else where before Thunder games for now. I've been three times now, and have had the Spark burger, BLC burger and the chicken sandwich. The consensus has been for us that it's a great feature to have in the park, and is a quick and easy spot to grab food before a Thunder game or at events at the park, but it won't be a place that we go out of our way to eat at unless we're in the area. It's good, but OKC is saturated with burgers and I think there are better options out there. That being said, the custard is one of the best I've ever had. Pete 12-02-2021, 04:48 PM By next spring and summer when even more people are packing the park, I bet this place is always going to be packed. kukblue1 12-02-2021, 06:45 PM I've been three times now, and have had the Spark burger, BLC burger and the chicken sandwich. I try to get down there around 5:30 so I can go get something to eat. Sometime 5 if I want to take the street car to midtown. They were busy but not overrun. Of course it was around 3PM and it was a chilly, overcast day. Their staff was very friendly and efficient. BTW, they have several TVs inside and outside in case you want to watch a game. They also have a nice sound system (again, inside and out) and were playing Christmas music. I have to say it was one of those can't-believe-this-is-OKC moments... The park was busy along with the pop-up shops and some food trucks. I sat outside and enjoyed my drink while overlooking the park, watching tons of people (lots of families and dogs) pass by, everyone in a happy holiday spirit. Still much to do in this town but every once in a while you just have to stop and enjoy all the progress that has been made. I also had the Peach Club Special and enjoyed it very much. I biked to Scissortail and parked my bike right there at Spark. I found the service very fast and friendly. Overall a really good experience. Pete 05-14-2022, 02:22 PM I was at Scissortail for a couple of hours today (Saturday) and the park was very busy but of course people are spread out throughout. Spark had a long line inside and both their quick-service windows were closed, but they had a stand-alone bar on their covered patio. They were serving beer, wine and even their frozen club specials; they had a mobile card reader for transactions. Nice to see them so busy and they seem to have become pretty popular. David 05-14-2022, 02:30 PM Hah, I wonder if I might have seen you there Pete, I was at the park today and ate at Spark around 11-ish. I'd probably give it up to Spark. Shake Shack is fine, I've never been disappointed, like you wouldn't catch me complaining about it at any point. But I can't say I've ever made it a real destination outside of the first time I tried it. We get real excited to go to Spark, though. Granted, that's so far been tied into fun times at Scissortail or Downtown generally so can't say that's not influencing it some. But probably if they were next door to each other I'd pick Spark either way. Boop 05-21-2024, 03:55 PM Do anyone know the address for the new location? For some reason it is not on the website CaptDave 05-21-2024, 03:56 PM I'm on Team Shake Shack - Spark just doesn't have an equivalent to a Smoke Shack burger. I will agree the fries are very close between the two (minus the pink stuff - I'm a no condiment fries person.) Spark is very good without a doubt, but not quite as good as Shake Shack in my opinion. I think Burger Punk may be the closest thing to Shake Shack in OKC. OkieBerto 05-21-2024, 03:57 PM Do anyone know the address for the new location? It's better than a bunch of national chains with much bigger resources. The entire Social Order group does a great job with social media and marketing as well, and have done from the jump. OKCRealtor 05-21-2024, 06:52 PM Great news on the new location! Close to my neck of the woods & another good reason to get to the area. I've had Shake Shack and Spark recently and they're both good. The Smoke Shack is a very good burger IMO. Spark has more diversity- I had a chicken sandwich and my wife got a healthy power bowl and they were both good. Corndogs are a footlong for kids and that was good as well along with the pink fries. Need to get a burger on my next visit but the options look good.
