View Full Version : Northwest corner of NW 178th and N May
Is that the Taco Bell that is being framed? I only see this development from May and didn't know they were building over there.
Yes, Taco Bell being framed along NW 178th just west of 7-Eleven.
scottk 08-12-2022, 05:45 PM 125 Unit Apartments will be built just north of this on the east side of May, behind the donut shop and nail salon.

corwin1968 09-05-2022, 05:31 PM I didn't notice the very large strip mall on the Western edge of the property in the recent photos, but saw it a couple of days ago when I visited Starbucks for the first time. Anyone know of any tentative or confirmed tenants, or is it way too early for that?

corwin1968 09-11-2022, 08:47 AM Looking at the County Assessor's website, it appears that the lot North of JackBe (the large white building) and five smaller lots, along 178th between the strip mall and the Taco Bell are still available.
Anyone know of any other planned businesses on this corner?

North of Jack Be will be a brewery and taproom. I'll have more on that soon.

Any news on this? This would be walking distance for us and we're huge brewery people.
The Winston is moving along on the NE corner:

unfundedrick 11-07-2022, 09:20 PM Pete, you seem to concentrate your photo attention on NW and central OKC, I know work is underway at May and SW 104th that I'm sure people would be interested in.

I can't fly my drone there because of the airport.
The software won't even let me take off.

Is that the case with the bridge work in Del City? I was hoping you might cover it like you did the 235/44 interchange, but it may be too close to Tinker for you to fly

Can't fly their either, or for a good chunk of NW OKC within 5 miles of Wiley Post.

You use a DJI? LAANC authorization is a breeze

I haven't bothered with LAANC but will give it a try in the near future.

I'd recommend using the Aloft app. Really it's just a few clicks and you'll be approved basically instantly as long as you request at/under whatever altitude is allowed in that sector. Then just tell the DJI app you have authorization when it throws the no-fly zone box at you.

I currently have Avision but will also download Aloft.

Okay, but not all coverage and photos have to be using a drone.

Fair enough but I work full time and am extremely busy. I just don't have time for that which is why I come here to keep up with what is happening. The area I asked about has been at least mentioned here before. I happened to notice the work there when I was on my way to a funeral and certainly couldn't take time to stop to take pictures.

I'll try and get down there soon and see if I can get clearance to fly my drone.
Taco Bell, 7-Eleven and Jack Be all close to opening:

scottk 11-23-2022, 08:01 AM I believe 7-11 started construction before the other three, and is taking its time in opening. The Taco Bell went up quick!
Any word on what's north of Jack Be Grocery since the land is cleared and it bumps up to the neighborhood drive entrance of The Grove?
cappa 11-23-2022, 09:05 AM Maybe there is something going on in that 7-11 but I look over every time I drive by and it seems all the stuff inside hasn't moved in weeks.
Pete has mentioned it will be a new brewery/taproom.

Oh sorry, I thought that was going on the opposite corner of 7-11, North east corner, by the apartments that bump up right next to Valenica.

A small strip center is planned just north of Jack Be.
The site plan shows a 'future building' between the two -- not sure what that will be.
A brewery is still planned for the property west of the strip center.

scottk 02-26-2023, 07:43 PM In regards to the strip center. There is already a donut shop, large nail salon, and liquor store across the street on the Valencia side, and all seem to be doing just fine.
The mock up seems to show a food tenant on the north side of the property with a drive thru option.

We need more restaurants in this immediate area, so the more, the better. I still haven't gotten over to the new Taco Bell, but I haven't been eating must fast-food or even restaurant food lately.

Not yet.
I asked about it again just yesterday and was told it's not yet a firm deal.

Hopefully it happens, and we get to find out who soon!
There is a new place called Inaka Sushi going into the strip center (upper left of photo below); they have another location at Britton & Penn but not sure if this is a relocation or expansion:

There has been no forward movement on the brewery that was planned for north of Jack Be and I fear that deal may be dead.
The Winston (foreground) is moving along.

I just tried the Britton & Penn location for the first time, yesterday. I only got one roll but the smells in the restaurant make me want to go back and try some of their entrees/bento boxes. Nice to have a new location practically next door.
T. Jamison 05-02-2023, 11:20 AM I was also there last night for my wife's birthday. We always get the Takoyaki for an appetizer and all the rolls I've tried have been good and consistent. It's been a go-to for us for a long time. As and introvert, the vibe is exactly what I'm looking for.

Best guess is early fall.
Qdoba is taking the far west spot in the strip center along 178th.
Looks like it will have a drive-thru.

Inaka Sushi will open in July.
This will be their 2nd location; the first is at Britton & Penn.

I heard it's a brewery from Colorado, and that they are still in talks. *fingers crossed
