While, technically Oklahoma City Limits, this is a little more than a stone's throw from the Edmond/OKC dividing line. After having a for sale sign zoned for commercial for years, there is new activity on the southeast corner of Edmond Road/178th and Western Avenue. Construction vehicles and a chain link fence were put up around the property this past week.

The corner already has Family Video and Highland Park with a Louie's and Ralph's Pharmacy. OnCue has plans for the opposite southwest corner, but I was wondering if anyone had details on what is going on this corner to complete the intersection.

I haven't been that way in a couple of days, but any chance it could possibly be a construction staging site for the repaving/widening of Western from 2nd to Danforth?

The intersection was reduced to one lane in all directions today. To say it caused congestion problems is an understatement. All four directions leading to the intersection are four lanes. The four lanes going north to 192nd reduce just pass the elementary school. Not sure why the intersection needs to be reduced for widening about a half mile up for northbound Western.

Yep, two lanes from the intersection in all directions, and the traffic lights set to flash in all directions. I took Santa Fe up to Danforth to get home yesterday. Western and 178th was a mess. Traffic was backed up for more than 1/2 mile, but that area has been in need of improvements for a while.

The southwest corner is still owned by Legacy Bank. They've had it for sale for quite a while.

There have not been any building permit applications.

^ Interestingly, there used to be a U-Totem on that corner, back when there wasn't just a whole lot out there.
