If this place can be even 80% of what Taste of Korea was, I'll be over the moon. The demise of that restaurant is easily one of the saddest closures in OKC over the last five years.

Agreed. Only want a few times, but we really liked Taste of Korea. It’s nice to have options in the mid-del/Moore area, but we’ve been needing something much closer. If the quality/authenticity is there, we’ll be regulars.

Agreed... It was walking distance from my office and I walked there at least once a week.
SEMIweather 07-11-2023, 11:58 PM This place seems like it's getting very close, is anyone aware of an opening date?
Mr. Cotter 07-12-2023, 08:52 AM What an improvement over the burned out florist shop! I'm more excited about this than the poke concept that never came in, but glad it saved the building.
What's with the "Est.1985" on the logo, though? This looks like the only location. Perhaps the birth year of the owner?

No idea. Looks like, in Oklahoma at least, the business "J&C Pocha" registered the tradename "Seoul Pocha", was formed 9/15/2021, and is currently inactive.
Bits_Of_Real_Panther 09-11-2023, 10:36 AM Doesn't look open yet
Thomas Vu 09-17-2023, 10:33 PM I drive by every Monday on my way to boomtown. Definitely not. I'm hoping to drive by during a soft opening and poke my head in.
Not quite open yet:

soonermike81 10-29-2023, 07:51 PM Super pumped that this is close to opening. Excited to see the menu.
OkieBerto 11-01-2023, 10:51 AM On my way to my weekly HteaO stop, I noticed lights on inside and people working on a few things. It was probably 7pm or later. Excited to try it!
midtownokcer 11-19-2023, 11:10 PM They had their soft open on Friday. Everything is 50% off until the end of the month. I don't think people know it's open yet as it never reached full capacity. However, once word of mouth spreads, I can see this place becoming very busy, especially given their hours, which is typical of a Korean pocha.
There is a reason why this took so long to open. The interior is so well done. From the signage to the decor and even with how they serve water in the metal cups, I felt like I was back in Hongdae in Seoul with the lighting and the K-pop videos and music playing in the background.
My group got quite a few dishes - all were excellent. Portion sizes are quite large. The bulgogi, cheese corn, and Rose Tteokbokki were our favorites. The food came out pretty quickly. Service was decent. It still seems that they are working out a few kinks here and there. There were no physical menus, just a QR code with a digital menu. They have a call button, which sounds and displays a table number to notify wait staff to attend to. There is an area for karaoke in the main space and then four karaoke rooms for small groups; add in soju +karaoke and there's potential for lots of fun to be had.
This is a wonderful addition to 23rd Street. Glad there is a good Korean spot in OKC proper again.

Thanks for heads up. Will get in to try before end of month. Looking at google business listing...hours are basically 7 days a week 5 pm to 2 am so no lunch at this time. Hopefully they add later.
Libbymin 11-21-2023, 01:24 PM Can't wait to try this place!
I went by the other night and they were open.
They have a FB and website but not much info:

Every time I drive by at night on a night they are open, they seem real busy. I think it is doing pretty good so far. I definitely need to try it out!

Unsure what to order, any suggestions??
truthiness 01-09-2024, 08:40 AM Bits_Of_Real_Panther, I'm not sure your familiarity with Korean food but bulgogi would be a safe place to start if it's new to you! We got the fried eggs with spam and it was honestly great.
soonermike81 01-09-2024, 08:17 PM Bulgogi is definitely safe. And delicious! I love Korean food, and if you like seafood, I really like the spicy seafood soup and seafood pancake. Korean fried chicken is always a safe play as well and their flavors are usually amazing. Don’t really prefer that these are boneless, however. Pork katsu is a staple and one that is filled with cheese sounds amazing, lol. Not sure if they do anything special with it, but I would avoid the $10 packaged ramen. But who knows, it might be amazing and worth it. Definitely can’t wait to try this place out.

15 bucks for 4 fried eggs and a half a can of SPAM seems unreasonably expensive. It must have been a favorite of the military during the Korean War.

I thought all the prices seemed pretty high.
truthiness 01-10-2024, 10:14 AM We went when it was still before the Grand Opening so prices were much lower, so I honestly didn't remember the cost per dish! Yeah that's pretty high for that dish.

Yeah, I thought about ordering pick up from there this weekend because I have been wanting to try- then saw that bulgogi was $23 so decided to wait for an in-person visit.
Grabbed Samurai Sushi instead.
