Modern Vietnamese restaurant to open in Auto Alley (http://www.okctalk.com/content.php?r=440-Modern-Vietnamese-restaurant-to-open-in-Auto-Alley)
Prairie Artisan Ales will soon have a new neighbor in the 8th Street Market in Automobile Alley.

Oklahoma City native Leon Hoang is partnering with acclaimed New Orleans restaurateur Kim Nguyen to bring Magasin Table to the newly opened project at 3 NE 8th Street near the train tracks off Broadway.
Magasin Table will focus on Vietnamese food with a modern twist. Traditional items will be featured such as pho, buns, banh mi sandwiches, rice bowls and spring rolls. Bar snacks and several healthy food options will also be offered.

The table-service restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner in a relaxed atmosphere which will encourage patrons to stay and drink Vietnamese beer or sample some of the offerings for Prairie.
And like Prairie Ales, Magasin will make use of the ample common area seating in the center of the 8th Street Market Hall. Hoang expects that the hours of Magasin will be expanded to late-night dining when the Oklahoma law changes next October which will allow Prairie and other taprooms to stay open past 9PM.

Hoang and Nguyen met in Dallas and formed a friendship that is now culminating in new OKC venture.
Nguyen owns the popular Magasin Kitchen and Magasin Cafe in New Orleans.

HangryHippo 11-29-2017, 09:33 AM Awesome!
sooner88 11-29-2017, 09:35 AM Really cool. We went to Prairie for the first time before the Thunder game Friday and it was packed already, can't wait for more options to open here.
TheirTheir 11-29-2017, 09:48 AM I just got back from New Orleans and would have loved to try Magasin Kitchen. However, it would have been 1 more in a list of 50 places I wanted to try.
BridgeBurner 11-30-2017, 10:22 AM Great! I was wondering what was go in the other spaces, was hoping it would be someone who would embrace the courtyard aspect and not wall themselves in.
Any idea which of the open spaces Magasin will be occupying?

It will be the space to the right as you enter 8th Street Market from the main, east entrance.
They are working on doing a food court in that large space on the south side of the complex (left as you walk in).
BridgeBurner 11-30-2017, 02:52 PM Nice! Glad to hear it will stay open and contiguous. Have you heard if they have any plans to fence in the back area abutting the barbed wire railroad fence (where they had the food truck on opening night)? On opening night you could walk out side to go the food truck but could not take your drink with you due to that weird outdoor drinking law I always hear about but don't know the exact specifications of. If so, I am sure the plans on the back burner with winter coming on.
Also, any plans for improving walk-ability across/parallel to the railroad tracks?
I am a huge fan of Prairie's setup at the 8th street market and have already been back several times so I have had plenty of time there to come up with questions haha, love the 4oz pour option.
FighttheGoodFight 11-30-2017, 03:04 PM Wow this will be amazing. I love the concept and Magasin in NOLA looks great! Being next to Prairie is going to give some guaranteed business.
soonerguru 11-30-2017, 03:11 PM HALLELUJAH! I have literally dreamed about a concept like this in OKC for years. Enjoy eating at Lido but there is room for elevated Vietnamese cuisine in a more sophisticated setting. Great concept!
They have started work at the 8th Street Marketplace.
This is looking south to the common seating area. The space is just to the right as you enter the building from the east; just east of Prairie.

They hope to open by the end of the month:

BridgeBurner 10-11-2018, 10:16 AM It'll be cool to have this open finally but sad that we won't be able to bring dogs to Prairie anymore :(

Because of the restaurant?
^
Yes, food will be served in the common area that is also being used by Prairie.
FighttheGoodFight 11-03-2018, 09:16 PM Open yet?
They are now in soft opening mode from 11-8.
Will soon have their liquor license and then will stay open later.
Had lunch there today and loved it. Right next to Prairie Ales which also opens at 11AM.

BridgeBurner 11-19-2018, 01:43 PM The Prairie instagram account said that they are still allowing dogs in the taproom!
LFordD40 11-20-2018, 08:08 AM Dang must have just missed out on being in the picture... I got the grilled pork Banh Mi and really enjoyed it as well.

we went to some taprooms Sunday and while magasin Table was not open sunday there were dogs in the tap room which was great. what I didn't enjoy was the amount of small children in the taproom area running and screaming and being disruptive. made me rethink if the new law allowing this was a good idea or not. but I do think its a good idea but clearly bad parenting and management not keeping it under control. we didn't stay long and moved along because it was bad. I am not being dramatic it was high pitch screaming and running and throwing checkers on the floor bad.

Oof, that's annoying, I am a regular there and can assure you that isn't very common but sorry to hear it sullied your experience. Glad to hear real-life verification that dogs are allowed in the taproom other than an instagram message I sent their okc account haha.

Oh it won't stop me. I was there Friday as well with no incident. it was just bad timing on the sunday so we moved on.

That is a pet peeve of mine. Yes, kids are going to be kids and their instinct is going to be to run around and be loud, but when the parents seem to just let their kids do it without any sort of corrective action? Ya know, pulling them aside and telling them to use their "indoor voices"? Drives me crazy.
As for Magasin, I can't wait to try this place!
atolbert 12-18-2018, 09:09 AM I went to Magasin Table last night to grab some food and watch the thunder game as well as to drink some beers at Prarie. There was a decent crowd at both establishments, and the crossover of people that order food from Magasin and drink at Prarie is very high. The food at Magasin is off the charts for the price point in my opinion. I've now tried the bahn mi sandwich, the verimicelli, and the pho. For all of the vietnamese places in OKC, Magasin is at the top for me.
DoctorTaco 03-07-2019, 09:29 AM I had Banh Mi there yesterday and it was out of this world. I will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu.

Everything I have had there has been great.
So fun to go sit it the Prairie taproom and have some good food.
Anonymous. 03-07-2019, 10:16 AM Wow I totally forgot about this place until this thread got bumped. I will check it out soon!

If you like pho, theirs is legit. And their rice bowls are very flavorful. Have yet to have a bad meal here.
shadfar 03-07-2019, 04:32 PM I try to hit this play up at least once a week. So good! The veggie potstickers and top notch!
BridgeBurner 07-26-2022, 06:53 PM Prairie just announced on instagram that Magasin is closing.
Bummer but they definitely did it to themselves closing at 7pm with an anchor tenant like prairie in your building open late. I’d say easily over a dozen times I’ve been at prairie with friends and one or more of us tried to walk over to magasin during reasonable dinner hours only to find it was already shuttered for the night- also heard staff at prairie cracking jokes about the subject. Hopefully next tenant doesn’t make that same mistake.
lady_o 07-26-2022, 07:00 PM This is so sad. Our favorite place. I don't get it... lines were long & they were often sold out even. I will say, I've have had similar experiences where I come by during their "hours" only to see the bars down which didn't bode well from a management perspective. We also couldn't easily get them delivered even though we could get, say, Riviere. Did the owners get burnt out or something?
Libbymin 07-26-2022, 07:44 PM Man that’s a big bummer as I really liked their food. I did notice recently that they weren’t serving pho anymore.
cappa 07-26-2022, 08:15 PM For anybody up north looking for an alternative, there is a newish family-run place called Cafe Tibo near NW 164th and Penn. Absolutely delicious and authentic Vietnamese food and teas and the family is so sweet. Probably my favorite banh mi and only $5.50.
Anonymous. 07-27-2022, 07:52 AM Their hours definitely did not help. But I think Parlor probably killed them. Our group would regularly choose to go to Parlor after beers at Prairie simply because the ease of 'something for everyone' aspect. I think the Collective and Parlor model is the new king of casual dining.

back open but for how long?
Thomas Vu 07-29-2022, 10:41 PM What a wild ride. I stopped by on Wednesday during what would be normal hours to catch them closed, and then saw them permanently closed on google maps. I'll check in with Leon when I can to see what's going on

I texted Leon yesterday and he is all quick to get back to him, but he hasn't answered at all.
lady_o 07-30-2022, 11:24 AM They just posted on facebook that they'll be open 12-6 today .
Thomas Vu 07-30-2022, 06:15 PM Confirmed they were open. I stopped by there for lunch today.
Went for lunch, and they said it was the last day. Maybe after a reset they would reopen, maybe someplace else.

Yeah, I traded texts with the owner and he was noncommital about what they would do next if anything.

Sad because the had great food. Toward the end it became more bland but we enjoyed the Vietnamese and beer combo.
Magasin Table will be replaced by another Vietnamese concept called Hot Chopsticks.
Leon Huang, the operator of Magasin Table, is not involved as he is seeking to do a full-scale restaurant in the future.
The new place should be open soon.

Vietnamese restaurant specializing Pho, Banh Mi, Vermicelli, Egg Rolls, Spring Rolls, Boba Drinks and many more...Our famous hot and delicious bowl of Beef Short Rib Pho will melt in your mouth! Check us out at 3 NE 8th St. OKC inside 8th Street Market.
Thomas Vu 08-17-2022, 10:12 PM Crazy it's being taken over by another vietnamese place, with a similar menu. I wonder if Leon sold it?
Hot Chopsticks is now open:

Jeepnokc 09-03-2022, 09:36 AM It looks good. I like the openess. Not sure we would ever go unless downtown. The prices are about 2-4 dollars higher per item than our current go to place down at sw 89/Penn (Bistro B). Their rent is probably a lot lower not being downtown.
