Does anyone know about the Westbury community near SW 15th and Sara Road just south of I-40? I saw a house I'm interested in buying there to either turn into a rental property or maybe live in. Any info on that area would be appreciated.

Westbury has been there since the early to mid 70's , and was built next to a golf course. Phase 1 was built on the south side of 15th street first, with phase 2 being built on the north side. There wasn't any other residential additions in that area at the time, and it was what I would consider at the time to be an upper middle class neighborhood out in the middle of rural farm land.

Not sure how it is today. But 20 years ago, South used to be pretty nice and a lot of North used to be a dump

South is still nice. Homes are older but the neighborhood is pretty well kept and has a lot of character.

Yep South is older but had the bigger nicer homes. There are still nice areas in the North section but it tended to be smaller, cookie cutter homes.

We lived in the Westburys for a few years in the mid-80s, when I was very young. Driving around the area now it's pretty much unrecognizable. Back then there was mostly empty fields (full of horny toads!), and just a few businesses scattered, like my day care and the Mustang Valley elementary I went to. Like most of the metro area, the voids are being filled just for the sake of being filled.

If I remember correctly, we were north of 15th, but it was a rather nice place, surrounded by other nice places. But we're talking about nearly three decades between now and then and the reliability of the memories of a 4-7 year old.
