View Full Version : OU Health Patient Tower 5alive 08-02-2020, 07:33 PM Nice! PaddyShack 08-03-2020, 04:47 PM Is it impossible to add the 3 floors at a later date? shawnw 08-03-2020, 04:59 PM Midwest Regional added two floors a few years ago and I'm not sure the building was designed for that outright, whereas this one was designed for it, so you'd think they could... One Dot Less Than Nine 08-04-2020, 09:00 AM Floors were added to MW Regional on 2 different occasions. The existing structure and foundations were sized and designed to accept the loads imposed by the additional structure. Its somewhat common to design for future vertical expansion in healthcare facilities. NRH's Healthplex for example was designed for additional floors which is why the elevator/stair tower extends past the existing patient floors. I do not know if OU's facility was designed to accommodate the additional floors in the future but it would make sense to do so. shawnw 08-04-2020, 11:03 AM thanks for the insight Pete 11-03-2020, 07:19 AM This facility is now officially open. Just in time, too. It should add to our bed capacity. shawnw 11-03-2020, 09:26 AM Wonder if their wishing they built it to the designed height... for the capacity BB37 11-13-2020, 05:05 PM Wonder if their wishing they built it to the designed height... for the capacity Gotta have the money first. Bellaboo 11-13-2020, 07:14 PM Wonder if their wishing they built it to the designed height... for the capacity I don't think they are not going to use the existing tower. If anything, it might be a problem staffing both towers ? Bill Robertson 11-13-2020, 08:36 PM I don't think they are not going to use the existing tower. If anything, it might be a problem staffing both towers ?I know a handful of people with RN licenses or whatever they call RN certification that aren't work as nurses and won't even think about it right now. On one hand I know they should step up and get to work. On the other hand I completely understand. Dustin 11-14-2020, 10:11 PM OU pays their nurses much better than integris. Integris is having to raise wages and offer bonuses just to keep talent from moving to OU. They won't have any problem staffing both towers. mgharfeh 01-11-2021, 02:03 PM I saw a rendering suggesting Elemental coffee is going into the new tower?? HangryHippo 01-11-2021, 02:04 PM I saw a rendering suggesting Elemental coffee is going into the new tower?? This is true. Bellaboo 04-04-2021, 03:09 PM ^^^ But they eliminated the top 4 floors on this one. bombermwc 04-05-2021, 07:19 AM I still hate how hospitals so mismatched their buildings. They always look like a architecture classroom got together and everyone refused to talk to each other about their own part. I get not wanting to date it, but you can make it blend better than that. Regardless, the patient rooms have to be a million times better than they were in the old tower. If i remember right, the old tower was some of the first private rooms in town, hence their very small size. And the rooms in that tower always seemed to be 15 degrees hotter than they should be, regardless of the time of year. So hats off to them for making their improvements, regardless of if im not a fan of the design. Now if they'll get off their high-horse and stop arguing with Blue Cross for more money. They've tried to make themselves as the good buy, but they're the bad guy. If they get what they want, it means a premium increase for BCBS members that have zero choice in which insurance they have. Extra payments out to one hospital does not happen for free and we as the "customers, if you can call us that, are who pay for it. fromdust 04-08-2021, 05:28 PM That's an ugly building! Up to you to decide what that statement is, but you can't deny that it will be a large presence in that healthplex skyline. I wonder if they'll doze the old structure when they do that and start a new structure on those grounds...... I wonder if they'll doze the old structure when they do that and start a new structure on those grounds...... IIRC they did some renovations in the old structure; so it may be there for quite some time. HOT ROD 04-14-2021, 12:53 AM was just in OKC and I have to say this makes a better presence than I thought (or the pictures convey). Yet I still believe they should add the 4 floors anyway, esp if you're going to build a building completely different style than the rest. ... |
