Oh, I know. I was as well. I'm sure there's a name for that brand of comedy (but if so I have no idea what that name is), where one party makes a comment, the other responds but not to the obvious part of the comment. Seems more prevalent in shows from the 60s and in British humor, so I guess maybe it would be called a 'Dad joke' these days? Also most of the humor of Leslie Nielsen.
