"House Democrats are telling me there is a "pending" deal on revenue. If it's true, today could be a big day up here."

Speaker backed out of the deal. Special Session is a go.

Then why do they drill in any other state?

Various reasons. The rock formations are significantly better in North Dakota and Texas than in Oklahoma. Backen wells in ND for example can still be extremely popular even with the high GPT. The same can't be said for many of the wells in Oklahoma. Plus, there are incentives in other states. They take different forms. Texas allows an exemption up to 50% of the cost of the well. Arkansas does a rate of 1.5% for 24 to 36 months depending on the circumstances. Louisiana has a 2 year total exemption for horizontal wells. I could go on and on. That's part of the problem is that we often compare apples to oranges, since each state does things slightly different.

Inman says negotiators kicked around ideas, including indexed rate, shortened discount month, 4% on current and new wells.

Dale Denwalt‏
@denwalt
That fell through, Inman said Dems countered with 7% on new wells.

Dale Denwalt‏
@denwalt
Schulz asked if Dems would accept 5% on all new wells, Inman said, saying it would pass.

Dale Denwalt‏
@denwalt
Inman tells press that after taking that 5% plan back to respective caucuses, Senate and House GOP didn't bite. Said to support 3%

Dale Denwalt‏
@denwalt
Inman said he's spoken to GOP who never heard abt 5%. "I don't believe their words. I don't believe they're negotiating in good faith."

Dale Denwalt‏
@denwalt
Inman says he's heading back to negotiating room after the press conference to try to get 5% back.

I have been in every single Senate caucus meeting. 5% WAS discussed. Don't mislead the public.

This is misleading for two reasons. One, Bice is in the Senate while Inman is in the House. Two, the tweet is from this morning and she is not referring to same discussion as Inman. From this afternoon:

Discussed since last night? Or earlier?

Yeah, I'm sure they only discussed it in the Senate caucus meeting and not the house, while working on a deal. And Inman flat out claimed that it was NEVER discussed. Bice is confirming it was discussed before last night, not since.

Asked if he's saying McCall and Schulz lied about asking their GOP caucuses about 5% GPT, Inman says yes.

As in SENATE President Pro Tem. So either Bice is lying, or Inman.

Precisely. Inman is saying that last night they struck a tentative deal including 5% GPT. They went to their caucuses with the deal and 5% was a no go for GOP. Inman says that he asked GOPers if 5% was brought up and some said no. Bice says that 5% was brought up, just that it was brought up before last night. As in, it was brought up before the tentative deal from last night.

Neither of them are lying, necessarily. Perhaps Bice should be working on a deal instead of trolling Inman and misleading the public.

I could say the same about Inman. He's just running a campaign.

Or just using what leverage he has to properly restore the GPT to a reasonable level. That's literally all the dems are asking for.

OIPA showing up yesterday to the capitol with signs such as "Oil and Gas Vote Too". Appears buses came in from Continental Resources to bring employees in.

Exactly. Inman has said the Democrats will support the other proposals if the GOP will simply budge on the GPT to 5% and the Republicans refuse to deal. How stupid.

Oil companies losing lawsuits filed against them for causing the earthquakes will discourage oil companies from drilling more than raising their taxes to proposed levels. But people don't seem to be worried about it.

If I had a job for 101 days and then left my most important work to the last eight days I would be fired. Just getting old.

I wonder if those two Republican legislators send their children to private schools and universities and just happen to drive on roads in good condition every day. And are well off, in excellent health, family members and close friends, too, and not reliant on the state for much of anything, other than their legislative jobs. If not, it's hard to understand how they can govern. They have to send their children to under funded public schools and drive on crappy roads, too.
