Brett 04-13-2017, 04:41 AM Is there a physical address for Commonplace Books? I checked out the link and there is no mention of one.

1325 N. Walker
turnpup 04-13-2017, 09:31 PM Got to see into the window this morning on the way to Hank's. There was a huge (what appeared to be a) yellow lab in there calmly watching us walk by. Looks like a neat, cozy space. Hope it does well!
They are open.
Have a grand opening thing tonight as well.

pickles 04-20-2017, 02:02 PM Very cool space
Timshel 11-03-2017, 02:40 PM I haven't been able to piece together all of the details (if anyone knows more about this than I, please add) but from various social media postings its safe to assume that Commonplace Books and Chris Castro (who I know of primarily from his work with the Edible magazine) are opening a cafe in what I assume will be the portion of the old Organic Squeeze not occupied by Gogi Go. I love everything Commonplace Books does and stands for and can't wait to see this in action.
T. Jamison 03-24-2018, 03:42 PM Here’s a short and interesting podcast on how independent bookstores are making a resurgence, and are actively sought by some real estate developers.

bchris02 07-10-2018, 07:23 PM This is very unfortunate. I wonder what happened?
It's hard to imagine going fast enough in that stretch of Walker for this type of thing to even be a possibility.
TheTravellers 07-10-2018, 08:21 PM Sounds like massive stupidity (could be bad meds or distress, though) - already hit a car, then plows through the window, then tries to back up and leave. Guessing there's going to be quite a few charges filed on this one.
CloudDeckMedia 07-11-2018, 07:44 AM The vehicle was in an accident at 13th & Walker, the driver attempted to park in front of the store, then hit the gas instead of the brake. The rest is history. No - wait - he came to STOP in the History Section. Sorry.
Timshel 07-11-2018, 08:25 AM Ugh. Is horrible. And this is after a wreck in nearly the same spot on Friday that I witnessed in which a car was hit while trying to make a left turn into a parking spot going north on Walker. I wonder if this was a similar situation. The cars collided and then ran into an employee of Gogi Go's truck, pushing it onto the sidewalk and almost into what I'm guessing is a transformer (that large green metal thing) that sits in front of Commonplace.
Glad to hear Ben and everyone at Commonplace is ok and hope they don't experience too much downtime.
shawnw 07-11-2018, 09:27 AM People coming southbound on Walker trying to make the often very quick light at 13 step on it when it turns yellow, which is a recipe for problems like what you describe...
On a completely unrelated note, anyone wanna buy a used Mercedes? Like new, minor paint damage.
Urbanized 07-11-2018, 03:02 PM ...No - wait - he came to STOP in the History Section. Sorry.
Funny! Not so funny: it was actually the CHILDRENS' BOOK SECTION. So glad nobody was hurt. Could have been tragic.
OKCbyTRANSFER 07-12-2018, 11:07 PM That intersection is difficult, northbound with the dedicated right turn lane not marked real well, the cars trying to make the left onto 13th, and yes, it's a quick light and people try to make it through (guilty here too)

I think a roundabout would work pretty well here. I've seen cars stuck there for at least two light cycles, so I can definitely imagine people getting in a rush to turn and not doing it safely.
sooner88 07-16-2018, 04:22 PM The Kitchen at Commonplace is opening tomorrow
Harbinger 07-17-2018, 10:49 PM Their kitchen is beautiful. The dining area features brass flatware settings at every seat. The coffee was fantastic as was the blue corn Taos donut. I also took a picture of this because I love the attitude.
