Hello All..just joined the site as I had previously been a "lurker" for quite sometime. I am in the Denton, TX area but I make the short drive up to Oklahoma at times to visit friends or just to get away from the DFW area and to explore what the state has to offer.
I've never been disappointed and I hope I can eventually add to some of the discussions on this board.

Thanks..and by the way, I really learn a lot on here so keep up the informative posts!

Hi maestro, 940, and Luckyduck.....it's great to have all of you here on the forum. Although you have already been "lurking" for a while, it's great to finally have you aboard. I hope you enjoy the forum.

I've been on the site for a little while, but haven't ever put an introduction about myself on here.

I'm 24 (turning 25 on October 1st). I've been married for just over 2 years. I'm a journalist, but I hate the media. (I know that doesn't make sense, but it's the truth)

That's the basics. I know I'm not too interesting

I think its safe to say a second football stadium will be added to the Moore district in the near future.

It will be hard to run three large schools on one football field.

Edmond does it, and they share with UCO's team.

All I will say is that if they use natural turf, it won't work. Artificial turf? No problem.

Good morning. My name is peanut265 and I am new to the Oklahoma City area recently moving from Chicago. I have some family in the area and thought I would relocate to spend some time with them. I work in healthcare and am job hunting at this time. Iam over 45 but less than 53 (lol). I have many interests, biking, cooking, travel, current events, steel tip darts and always enjoy trying new things. I have been spending a bit of time at Paws Park in between unpacking and settling in.

Good luck finding a job! I'm sure you'll find something soon. I wish I had some suggestions to help, but I'm not in the healthcare field.

I hope you enjoy it here :) OKC can be a fun place, and there is a lot to do, especially when the weather is so nice. You definitely picked a good time of year to move in!

I am using your board to find out everything I can about schools, neighborhoods, etc. So far, Edmond is our first choice, but I want to make sure I check out EVERYTHING before we buy our house there. I love your city and I can't wait to get the heck out of Florida!

My name is John, moved to OKC 11 years ago after finishing 20 years in the US Navy. Originally from Memphis, TN. Too much emotional baggage (did my generation coin that term?) to go back, OKC close enough to visit my mother 2-3 times a year. Love my wife, both step-daughters, all 5 grandkids, and the dog. Have mixed emotions about the barn cat. Active in my church both as a greeter and head of the motorcycle ministry. Own three motorcycles, with plans (and wifes blessing) for # 4 as soon as the truck is paid off. Work in Industrial Maintenance near Will Rogers Airport. Live in an unincorporated pocket of the county near Forest Park, a real life Eddie Albert (Green Acres). Appreciate intelligent discussion on any topic.Living north, working south, and going to church in Edmond, ALL have there pluses and minuses.

Same question as Easy180 - How are casinos destoying your life? I could speculate on many ways but choose not too.
That said, I am anti-casino based not only on my religious beliefs, but because of the damage caused by gambling I saw as a child. My father helped his friend run an illegal gambling hall, and I still remeber him laughing about a man gambling away his family grocery money.

Mandy
10-31-2006, 11:07 AM
Hi, my name is Mandy. I'm 27 and I currently live in Paris, TX. I'm moving to OKC w/my best friend, who just got a new job up there. I wish we could just move already! I'm so tired of waiting! His new job is building a new office there, but it won't be finished until December. I'm just going because :ou

I'll probably be asking a lot of questions. I hope that doesn't annoy anyone...I've done searches to find certain things, but they're hard to find and it's more about people's opinions of certain places anyway. I need to find some new favorite places! It doesn't have a lot of the things I want, like a Whole Foods market! At least here, Dallas has everything and it's only a two-hour drive away. I'm really nervous about moving there now, but I've heard really nice things about it by people I know that have been there. It's so exciting moving somewhere new!

If any women want to send me a message with your favorite salons and spas, I'd appreciate it. :) Or men, I guess. Who does the best nails? The best hair? Which spa has the most unique menu? (I love trying new things.) Where is the best mall? I'm so excited to have a mall near me - that is one good thing about OKC. :)

What are some really good restaurants? (I'm a vegetarian, but I'm not afraid to special order everything vegetarian-friendly if it's not a vegetarian dish/restaurant!) Is there a good farmer's market and/or natural foods store? Who is a really good veterinarian? Are there any great pet specialty stores in the area? Where do you go to get your super-premium cat foods like Merrik, Wellness, Felidae, Innova, California Natural, Natural Balance, etc.?

Sigh... so many new things to find out! It's both exhausting and exciting!! :)

Oh, and what is this smiley? :boff:

Hello all! I live in Norman, and i'm an interior design student doing my capstone project on the Osler Building in the MidTown district and found this site Googling information for my research.

just to fill you in, for our capstone projects we are to "renovate" (but not REALLY) a building at least 30,000 sq.ft. and make it a mixed use occupancy (3 different types). I'm planning on doing either condos or a hotel, with a restaurant/bar on the top floor, and, well, i'm not really sure what else... :)

i've read a lot of the forums about MidTown, and would love to talk to anyone who lives in/near the area!

Good evening. This is my first post.

I live in The Village. I'm 30, married, with no kids. As my screen name indicates, my favorite hobby is playing drums. I have a set in my garage where I play mostly 60's and 70's rock along with my CD player. After 3 years, I'm yet to hear any complaints from the neighbors (knock on wood).

I found OKCTalk while searching for info on the Fuddrucker's they were building on the south side. I was very disappointed to hear that it fell through. Oh, well. I guess I'll have to try Irma's Burger Shack (suggested by someone on this forum).

If you are knocking on wood that would suggest a tribal style drum as opposed to the faux-animal skin drumheads everyone else used for 60's/70's rock.
Hope you enjoy the forums. Take a good look around! Don't be a one post and out like so many are. :welcome5:

Of course I jumped the gun and have another post titled True Newbie that explains some of my dilemma.

My name is CJ. I'm NOT married and prolly won't walk that aisle. I'm from a small town in central Missouri, don't worry I didn't really bring any particular sports team love with me so I can start anew. I have a chihuahua that's eleven years old... I am 24---although just by looking at me you'd think I was still in high school. I went to Emporia State and received my BS in Psychology in 2005. Hoping to go back to school to get a Masters---eventually. I moved to Edmond, nice place.

I don't have any friends here but hope things will change. I am very much a people person and spending these past few weeks in my apartment has about driven me insane. Back home I was very lively in the local music scene and love a good horror flick. I like beer. I love NIN. I'm in driving withdrawal since I used to have to drive an hour or two to the city to see friends and have a good time.

I know my friends back home miss me since I have an odd humor and they keep telling me that they miss me.

I will prolly spend St. Patty's watching lousy tv, sittin on my futon. Never thought I'd have to admit that. I'm just not comfortable venturing out on my own EVEN though I used to wander around the worst parts of KC by myself. Knowing my friends and family are 7 hours away doesn't help.

Hey life will be better now that I'm out of my dead end job and don't live with family members anymore.... right? Of course! Time to dig out that list of things to do "someday" and see if I can do any of them.

Skateboard down a street without falling off of the board.
Learn how to play tennis.
Stay awake during a baseball game. (perhaps I blame the Royals?)
Finish my batmobile.
Paint a mural.
Find a job in my field.
Get a tan. (I had sun-poisoning once.... long story)

So they're not in order, my bad. Yes, in Missouri we still use very bad slang.

Ya'll seem real friendly. Hopefully I'm welcomed with open arms. Actually a lil smiley face duder would be quite nice.

Thanks for allowing me thusfar :yourock:

It was a short term thing and I guess I technically didn't move since I kept my house here and came back for a week a month since June of last year. I was born and raised in NW OKC and couldn't wait to get back home. My husband and I are soon to be buying a CPA firm in town and are looking to move it within the year. I have a strong interest in the Midtown area and am so excited to see all of the activity in and around the DT area.
