View Full Version : WRWA Shooting: Not Often I Have To Dodge Police Cars To Leave Work Bill Robertson 11-15-2016, 02:25 PM When I left work the road was blocked by police cars and a couple fire trucks going with lights but no sirens. Then I heard on the radio about a shooting at WRWA. OkiePoke 11-15-2016, 02:42 PM They are currently looking for the suspect. He is thought to be a disgruntled employee. One confirmed victim, unknown status. Potential second victim. Bill Robertson 11-15-2016, 04:20 PM KOCO just said the deceased victim is Michael Winchester, 52. When my dad was in St Anthony ICU 35ish years ago another of the other little ng term patients had the same name and would have been about that age. I wonder? Swake 11-15-2016, 05:59 PM It's being reported that he was a punter for OU's '85 championship team and his son more recently was a long snapper for OU and now is in the NFL. Bill Robertson 11-15-2016, 06:26 PM I forgot about the punter for OU. But then I have trouble with what I had for lunch last week. So I knew of two Mike Winchesters. This story is so sad. The '80s were a long time ago now SoonerDave 11-15-2016, 07:42 PM I actually met Mike Winchester as a freshman at OU back in '82. We were both in a computer lab, and started shooting the breeze a bit. In the course of the conversation, he told me he was going to walk on to the football team as a punter, and he did exactly that. Tragic doesn't begin to describe this. Bill Robertson 11-15-2016, 09:01 PM No it doesn't. And the shooter killed him self so we might never know why. Very, very sad. Paseofreak 11-15-2016, 09:38 PM I read online somewhere this afternoon that the suspect had recently been fired from SWA for showing upto work drunk. It doesn't seem much of a stretch to think that is the reason for this tragic act. Bill Robertson 11-16-2016, 07:30 AM I got out yesterday just in time. Some of our aircraft mechanics that leave at three only got out because we're a law enforcement agency and our officers escorted them past the OCKPD. A couple of guys couldn't go on time and were stuck here until almost 7. Not a big deal next to a shooting but not something I would ever see happening. catch22 11-16-2016, 08:58 AM I got out yesterday just in time. If they are paid hourly were they given overtime? It is probably different since we are union but the company pays us for any time we are at work and are unable to leave, even issues outside the company's control. jerrywall 11-16-2016, 09:18 AM My mother in law worked for Delta forever and Michael was a friend. It's weird. Bill Robertson 11-16-2016, 01:46 PM If they are paid hourly were they given overtime? They aren't sure but don't expect to get paid past their normal time. They're thinking the company will say they weren't stuck there for work functions and they could have spent the time playing on their phones etc. |
