View Full Version : Miller & Johnson Building
I believe they had some issues with the soil.
Looks like they are moving forward again.

This project seems to be completely stalled. No work equipment out there for months.
I believe there were some issues with the soil but this has been quite a delay.

Mavic Pro.
Wow, that was a fast response... Sorry for double post, thought I was editing. No hurt feels if you want to delete this and previous posts.
PS - I want a Mavic!
catch22 03-01-2018, 11:49 PM Noticed dirt work was going again this morning. Quite a few dumptrucks, bulldozers, and frond end loaders.
Yes, they are once again moving dirt and have setup a construction trailer.

You can see the footprint of the building starting to take shape:

ditm4567 04-11-2018, 02:59 PM I honestly cannot remember when a law firm has actually ponied up money and built a building. I believe that this would be a first.
The Abel Law Firm, out on NE 63rd and Kelly, has a beautiful building. However, I believe they bought it near the end of the renovations after a fire destroyed most of the original building.

The Miller Johnson building is going up! Construction continues on this office building located at 6th and Walker near @midtown_okc.

Ha, both of those angles make the footprint look crooked against NW 6th but in opposite directions from one picture to the other.

JRod1980 11-12-2018, 12:29 PM I love having buildings like this fill vacant lots, but it would be nice having several 8-12 story in fills as well. If we could get 4-5 more buildings on the NW side of the CBD in the 8-12 story range that vary from office, to residential and even new hotels. It would really extend the skyline. Just nice brick buildings, not fancy glass and steel. IMO obviously.
stlokc 11-12-2018, 01:01 PM We do have The Elliott on the way that will fit your criteria.
I understand having a more “impressive” skyline. But I’m still of the opinion that getting rid of the vacant lots is more key. I would rather see ten 5-story buildings than five 10-story ones.
HOT ROD 11-12-2018, 11:26 PM Ya, this building is solid. I hope we get 10 more to fill-in those vacant fields in Midtown. Along with the 5 more 10+ floor ones :).
SagerMichael 11-13-2018, 07:55 AM This building, The Elliott, 701 N Hudson, Monarch.... Midtown’s skyline is coming together nicely. Still a bunch of empty lots but progress is being made.

Agreed 100%. The Elliot helps, but its still pretty far away from the core of CBD. Regardless, it will be nice to see how the height of this building will add to Midtown.

HOT ROD 11-02-2019, 05:26 PM for lease? I thought it was a single occupant building for the law firm.
The plan was always to lease some of it out.
SEMIweather 11-03-2019, 08:54 AM The finished product does look like it's going to be really nice, at least.

5alive 02-24-2020, 10:51 AM This "looks" awesome. Is it constructed out of stone/concrete, eifs or some combination of those?
kevin lee 02-24-2020, 11:12 AM Yea, looks great. Never did understand when people said it looks like a hotel.

Cast stone, primarily.
bombermwc 02-26-2020, 07:42 AM I'm not sure why, but i did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night....bwahaha..
Seriously, it's just a mixture of factors that make it look similar to a hotel. Partly because of its size. And also the way the windows are placed with no connection between them and the artistic filler between looks like where the HVAC unit would go. I dont think anyone is saying its exact, just reminiscent.

5alive 07-19-2020, 02:09 PM Great infill!
catch22 07-19-2020, 03:05 PM Wow! The last time I drove by that lot I think it was just steel going up. Looks terrific.
Dirt started moving on this project in early April 2017.
Will be about 3.5 years from start to finish, and it was just a vacant lot.
catch22 07-19-2020, 05:10 PM Is Dowell a distant cousin of Miller or Johnson?
http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/miller093020a.jpg
dankrutka 10-12-2020, 01:07 AM It's always crazy to see the parking lot bigger than the building in such a great urban spot. Good infill overall.
ChrisHayes 10-12-2020, 05:01 AM Now, onto all of the lots across the street!
Bits_Of_Real_Panther 03-09-2021, 10:22 AM I drove by recently, is the whole building vacant?
Saw for lease signs but it looked quiet.

The law firm has moved in but they have space for lease as well.
