Does anyone know why they closed this location?

2 theories:
(1) - too close to the existing Sonic at 63rd and Meridian.
(2) - poor service. For me, it was always 50/50 whether they would get my order right or not.

Looking on Google Maps shows a bunch of Sonics a lot closer to each other than that. I'm guessing Sonic is starting to feel the karma of years of crappy service and ever-escalating prices. It seems every week there is some sort of 'sale'. Half price burgers (or BOGO), half price hot dogs (or BOGO), 50 cent corn dogs. BOGO wings after 5pm, BOGO shakes. Yet I know a number of people who still don't go even then, because they just don't want to deal with their crap, and I'm one of them. The last time I went to Sonic, it was to get a cup of coffee, I figured come on, they can't screw that up. They brought me the coffee, the sugar, and the cream. They did not bring me a spoon or any other kind of stirrer. Once I pressed the button to ask for a spoon, got the spoon, put the sugar and creamer in, stirred it, and tasted it, I learned that they had 'forgotten' the flavor shot. Didn't forget to charge me for it though.

tl;dr: It's option 2.

This was my last trip to Sonic... I went on a Thursday so it was Half-Price Burger night....

Well apparently it was also half-off because there was no burger on my burger and I'm pretty certain I would never order my burger vegetarian..... Fortunately I was eating it there. So they corrected the problem but for crying out loud.... How do you send a burger out with no freaking burger???

. . .the one just east of Meridian on NW 39th is not a paragon of service (or speed) either :(

For what it's worth, I did a stint in fast food for three years, working for Arby's... It can sometimes be difficult to keep track of everything in the kitchen during the busiest hours of the day - especially when a BOGO/half-off/free promotion is going. There were times when my crew and I didn't communicate well enough, or simply made assumptions, and that resulted in sandwiches being sent out wrong. If the person dressing the sandwich is not the same person that's wrapping the sandwich, often the wrapper is moving so quickly that they will wrap whatever is in front of them without realizing that the sandwich may not be complete. Of course, missing the main ingredient is a heck of a lot less common than missing a condiment/topping, but I know it happened to us a few times. Mostly boils down to a combination of the speed of service demanded from quick service restaurants, amount of business, and communication (or lack thereof).

Huh? There is a little over one mile between the 2 locations. If I was a franchisee and the company opened one that close to me, I would immediately be complaining to corporate.
