Not just wow, holy f*cking sh*t, this is incredible, man....... Going to go down as one of the worst years for musicians going away ever, most likely (notwithstanding Buddy, et al, way back)

Almost all my faves are gone now - Lou, Bowie, Prince, 3 of the top creative musicians of the past, well, maybe ever.

This one is hard for me. The music of my high school and college years. Just listened to 1999 a few weeks ago and danced the entire time. XM 80s on 8 is playing his music now on Mark Goodman's show.

It's like George R. R. Martin is writing 2016.

And yet, somehow, Michael Bolton, still alive.

The world sucks.

Bowie and Haggard hit me harder on a personal level, but no question Prince was crazy special and unique, even if he wasn't my brand of crazy.

Same here. Prince was another music icon. Not one of my favs but he was great at what he did. I am starting to feel old.

Sad news. Prince was incredible. I recall a certain movie scene with Julia Roberts in a bubble bath with a Walkman singing Prince...

Fantastic, never seen this for anybody - weather.com's background is purple and says "In Memory Of Prince".

Its pretty amazing how far reaching his influence is. Major buildings and landmarks around the country were purple last night as well as Purple rain clouds on weather maps in many cities.

Wasn't my cup of tea but I understand the impact he had on others. RIP and my condolences to all his hardcore fans.

Same here. He wasn't part of my musical tastes over the years, but I hung out with people, and dated a few women who listened to him. Like other artists who have passed in recent times, he was part of my past and circumstances.

I saw Prince in concert at Lloyd Noble in Norman in 1983. The next year, Purple Rain and more great stuff came along. I should have seen in more than once.

Lucky you, for some reason I didn't see him then, had to wait until the Musicology tour. There are a couple of live shows out there on youtube in pretty good quality - one from 1982 in Passaic and one from 1985 in Syracuse.
