Plupan, I have a sneaking suspicion that you would drive 150 mph on a Hoveround if it was capable.

It's definitely two different cultures between here and the left coast. Every time I've driven out there, I quickly adopted a "when in Rome" mentality, and drove like they did or else I would have got ran over.
lol... I usually don't go that fast. I just had the opportunity to drive a really nice and fast car and I couldn't resist. The highway was clear(almost never happens here in SoCal) and I was like why not until out of nowhere a police officer was behind me. He was really cool about it. He mentioned twice that he appreciated me pulling over and not trying to run which was odd. It was on the express lanes on the 110. I have been more and more going to the track though.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I have heard people drive faster in the Northeast than they do the Southwest.

I really didn't have much to say about the subject until this thread started. Now it's been a daily thing. Twice in the last three days I've been on 4 lane city street, in the right lane, doing at least the speed limit and had someone come up behind me then fly around me laying on their horn and flipping me off. What's with people.

^^ My daughter told me yesterday that over the last couple days, she was stopped in traffic at two different locations attempting to make a legal left turn and waiting for traffic to clear when the person behind her did the same thing. They sped around her while laying on the horn.

It's springtime... it seems to make people crazy. Figure that's why May is motorcycle safety awareness month.

I'm Old, yet (having been both a biker and a truckdriver) I Forget, Not. Having typed that: [in my humble opinion] this is, perhaps, the most interesting, entertaining, and enlightening thread since Torea (from KC) got all upset about Train Horns. Would it be OK to "cut to the chase"? Thank you. We all drive. We all want to get from Point A to Point B in the fastest, most expeditious and efficient way possible. Most "others" on the road do not share our perspective. Many enjoy distractedly racing to the next stop light. Several don't know how to turn their RoadBarge SUV into a parking lot without making a nearly complete stop in traffic. Many of the "Nuts Behind the Wheel" probably don't have a valid drivers license and can't read the road signs. All of that is a given. =~) To combat "Road Rage" I've learned that tuning the Radio Dial to that Classical Music Station mellows out the outrage. =~)

And I see this all over OKC... A delivery van or truck of some sort stopped in traffic lanes and people driving too fast and often getting outraged, which can lead to stupid and dangerous decisions.

You must travel down 10th frequently. I saw a plumbing van parked on 10th near Robinson in the morning (3 hours), then take a lunch break, then came back and didn't leave until 4.

I feel parking on 10th street shouldn't be allowed.

Retro-Apology In Advance to Pete and OkiePoke for PostsCrossed (PC): Unless, of course, what is coming in over the "airwaves" here in Local OKC, is something akin to or involving Richard Wagner or the PyrGintDude. In that case I click the sound system over to something by Bob Dylan or Peter, Paul and Mary. =~)

I think that there should be more parks on 10th street. I feel that I've been wrong before. UrbanPlanning isn't as simple as it's cracked up to be. Is it?

Sorry . . . I digressed: Mostly this thread was about Road Rage. OK?

It happens all the time on 10th. I've seen it happen a lot in the morning in the westbound lane on 10th just east of Broadway by the Factory, etc. Turns that direction into a one lane and has to take forever for everyone trying to get to work, especially if someone is turning left (no left turn signal).

Personally, I like it when others blow past me in their rush to get to the next red light first. They often make it change for me before I get there. When the same compensation vehicle leaves me in the dust light after light I just grin and repeatedly say "thank you."

As an AntiTrumpianNonClintonian(disestablishmentarianism ist), and driver of a vehicle on local roadways, as well as a supporter of diversity and whatnot, I have to ask: What the "F" does a red or yellow light look like to a driver who probably can't speak English any better than I can speak Afganistanian? Geez. Louize. Fer Cryin' Oot (Scottish) Loud. Sorry. Road Angst from a simple run to the grocery store. My Bad. I'm over it. grrrr. =~)

I looked death in the face (after a visit to the local grocery store) on account of a dumbass punk in traffic. And survived. Again. Thanks for your concern. Amigo.

so on the topic of dumb drivers, how about me for being totally confused by the flashing red left turn arrows in Florida?

You know, I started reading post #131 without reading who wrote it, but somehow knew who wrote it by the middle of the second sentence. RadMod, once again you've brought a grin to my face.

Red flashing arrows (#140)? Beats me. Perhaps we are to stop and go repeatedly as we make the turn.

Well, what I decided was that it functions like a stop sign, but for the left turn lane.

So pretty much means the same thing as a flashing yellow arrow does here? Which, very sadly, still confuses people even though there's a big-ass sign explaining it right next to the signal light that they're (supposed to be) looking at.

Flashing yellow is a yield though, no stop required, correct? I'd assume that's the difference.

And yes, people don't understand the flashing yellow arrow. My grandmother has been in multiple wrecks due to those, only one of those not her fault.

Yeah, that is the difference, but honestly, do people come to a complete stop with a flashing red arrow? It probably ends up being a yield most of the time except if there's heavy oncoming traffic. Regardless, a flashing signal (especially left turn) means this to me, even if I had never read the sign - you do not have the right of way, you need to yield or stop and wait until it's clear, then do whatever you were going to do (turn left, whatever).

I am *so* in favor of some kind of retesting every x years of drivers - be it written or driving, but at the very least, written.
