I haven't been yet, but I really like how their menu is laid out online. They have pictures of each item with their price, as well as a description when you click on the picture.

Had lunch here the other day and was generally impressed with the place and the food. I mean, look at this thing:

http://www.okctalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=12835&d=1470349573

That's a Fat Dog, served Doggy Style - that almost feels dirty to type - and it was utterly delicious! I'll be going back for sure.

... I'm not much of a fry person but I liked that they are serving the thinner shoestring style fries as that's about the only kind I'll eat.

Stopped for lunch today and they've changed their fries..... Had more of a hand cut appearance and were limp and mushy.

On the plus side The Schnauzer (footlong brat with onions and mustard) was tasty.

Maybe it was just because it's a Monday but they were really slow for lunch... Only one other table with 3 customers at it other than me..... Has been a couple of months since I was there last but both times I was there before they were fairly busy.

Saw the Lost Ogle commented on Fat Dog being closed... Website (https://www.fatdogokc.com/) says they are restructuring and their Facebook page is gone..... Anyone know anything for certain?

Closed on Sunday and laid off their entire staff.

Trying to find a new operator as the Fat Dog people put a lot of money into that place but don't own it.

I think it needs to be a bar-first type of place catering to the local neighborhoods.

Hmmmm... I wonder if Schwabs has any of those footlong hotlinks they were custom making for them they want to unload cheap.

Went there a couple of times. The remodel was spectacular, but I thought it was out of step with the immediate neighborhood. The food I had was priced like busier places closer to the action, but never came close in quality. $10 for two uninspired street tacos when the fabulous truck down the street was pitching really good product at $1.50 per? A footlong coney for well over $5? I've been wondering for a while why this hasn't happened sooner. Genuinely sad the proprietor put so much into the effort only to have it not pan out.

I went there every couple weeks or so, that's pretty disappointing to hear. Ate there on Friday and the food was as good as usual.

I think this place was a little bit ahead of its time. I went a few times and there was hardly ever anybody there.

I hope the Flea is doing better. Bars on that side of downtown should get a nice boost when the Residences at 21c get completed.

Bummer, only went there once or twice but I liked it.
When I saw the 13 Chelsea/Rabbit Hole link http://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=41815 I thought to myself "well that'll be good, the Fat Dog desperately needs something else in that area." Now I question the fate of that future project... The optimist in me wants to believe that someone will eventually re-use the renovated Fat Dog building/patio for another bar.

Heard:
1) has been purchased by Deep Fork Group
2) will be rebranded
3) to reopen in 1-4 weeks
4) "break up"'with employees was without notice and news had to be spread by asst. mgr. rather than ownership.

Heard in a pub. Take it for what it's worth.

One of my rental tenants who worked there echoed your last statement. Managers didn't even know when they showed up to work. Supposedly had been in the work for weeks and didn't tell anyone to let them get head start on finding new employment. Luckily she got a spot at the new St Mark's Chop Room.

Deep Fork does not have a signed deal because the Fat Dog people are still taking meetings with other prospective operators.

DF probably showed some interest but I have the feeling the Fat Dog guys want to get a big chunk of their investment back, which is going to be tough because 1) they failed themselves and 2) they don't own the property, thus don't have a lot of leverage.

From what I was told the owner of FD is not even in the restaurant business, it was a side gig for him. Which we all know never really ends well.

The primary owner is Leo Kingston of 1-800-2Sell Homes fame.

The Lost Ogle just did a story on him: https://www.thelostogle.com/2017/08/01/goofy-convicted-felon-wants-to-run-for-labor-commissioner/

This spot will become Good Times, a restaurant and bar operated by Shyon Keoppel, part of the team behind Kong's and Greystone.

The patio will stay; will get a thorough remodel and be open in about a month.

Glad to see some more good news on this under-utilized stretch of Classen between film row and 16th.
I remember a long time ago there were plans to turn the building across the street from Fat Dog into a bar, I think it was called rabbit-something. That ended up falling through completely though, correct?

The Fat Dog / Good Times space was to be the Rabbit Hole originally but that fell through.

Across the street in the renovated old cafe space, Shyon Keoppel and James Vu proposed El Jefe, a street tacos kind of place but that fell through as well. That building is empty and renovation stopped some time ago.

Shyon has a majority interest in Good Times with the couple being part owners and operating partner.

Shyon does not own the property... The owner has refused many purchase offers.

We went Saturday for a couple drinks in the afternoon. There was a decent group on the patio (they only had one server for the entire patio, so it took a little while to get a drink from her), but the drinks were all relatively cheap. It's not far from 23rd / Midtown, but it's isolated enough I'm not sure how often we'll make it over there.

I went last night.

There were quite a few people there. Most of the people were out on the patio. I get the feeling it will be a neighborhood bar with a bunch of regulars. The only thing I didn't like was they allow smoking on the patio, and there were quite a few people smoking. Not sure how they do this with serving food? It is semi-enclosed.

I went this past weekend as well and had a *good time. Definitely a young crowd, but reminds me of what The Other Room was like when it first opened. To me, the inside is a little uninviting, due in part to the lack of windows. For that reason, I'm not sure if I will have a reason to go there during the winter months when the patio isn't an option.

Went there last night for the first time.

Didn't order food but service was friendly and helpful for drinks.

Arriving at 8 there were about 10 people but I left near midnight the entire patio was packed. Cars parked all over the place at surrounding businesses and streets.

Oddly, there was absolutely no one inside but the bartenders and people paying their tabs.

In a short time, they have definitely found a big following. I never saw anywhere close to that many people at Fat Dog, even on the weekend.

They changed out the color scheme to make it more gritty (to serve their dive bar theme) but the place doesn't look considerably different.

Will be interesting to see how they do in the cold months.

I went here the other day (or whenever RuPaul's finale was, they were hosting a watch party with lots of people there) and had some pretty fantastic food. The cheeseburger I got was very thick, juicy and very very tasty. My friend ordered the fried pickles. I was expecting the normal super crispy hamburger shaped pickles, but they have spears and although perfectly crispy they weren't overdone like a lot of places tend to do. We also ordered the stoner nachos and added the chicken. I was very hesitant about this concept, but holy cow the Doritos breaded chicken was so good. Maybe the best nachos I've had (and was not stoned so I promise they are good). I really couldn't believe how much I loved it. Drinks were really good too! Will definitely put this in my rotation.

A huge portion of the business are restaurant employees from several different properties. A lot of my staff goes there after shifts on almost a nightly basis. You are on to something about the cold months, the inside of Good Times is pretty small. I think the winter months are going to be rough for them if the transient nature of restaurant employees doesn't mess things up first.

Went with a decent sized group last weekend and were hanging out on the back patio. I noticed all the space heaters were off, so one of our group went inside to inquire about getting them turned on and the employee said that they were out of propane. We had too many to sit inside and there was already another group around the firepit so we were forced to leave after our first round of drinks due to the females getting cold. While we were getting everybody rounded up we saw another good sized group doing the same thing. Not ragging on the place, it's actually one of my favorite bars in OKC right now, but I was kind of shocked at the lack of planning there.
Number one, the place is marketed as a patio bar so I would think that making sure the patio was a functional space in the winter months would be crucial to their operations.
Number two, there is a 24 hr 7-11 with propane literally a block and a half from the bar- we had planned on staying there all night so our group alone would have easily covered the cost of propane refills and would have taken someone less than 10 mins to walk there and back.

The attitude of "We're out, sorry" seems to be more and more prevalent nowadays. Used to be that when restaurants ran out of something, they went out to a store and bought it rather than say "We're out, sorry", or if a *$ ran out of cups, they'd call another one and get some run over, but things like that just don't seem to be part of the mindset these days. :( Lipsmackers is still doing it the old school way, though, so props to him for that!

Ran into Dollar Tree the other day, the we're out of bags, using some trash bag as a fill in. Same thought, are there not enough other stores around to borrow from?
Today many don't seem to understand it, yes, it may cost you to grab something from 7-11 or even Sam's Club, but it happens. Truck is delayed, item shorted, damaged, etc.We always had petty cash for those times
