I watched it. Honestly, the first episode was definitely hard to watch. I don't mind violence in movies and films, but obviously, this episode was pretty disturbing. I think the storyline is right now is pretty decent and certainly moving in an interesting direction. Negan is a pretty strong character. I'm definitely sticking with it.

The "torture porn" scene was an attempt to shoot the comic book cells down to every eye popping detail.

That was very disturbing. I don't think I'll be able to get that image out of my head for a while....

while the imagery was fairly disturbing for me, what made it over the top was the sound of the character's slurred speech just before he/she bit it. uggh.

What really broke it for me is when the aliens landed.

Tee hee....

But seriously, that was probably the most violent thing I've seen on television. Worse than the Red Wedding....bordering on unwatchable. And honestly, if the plot (or lack of thereof) is going where I think it is going, I am not sure I'll be sticking with this show much longer. TWD works because it is a good story of hope and perseverance in an otherwise bleak situation. Now, its just joyless misery porn. Where is this story going? Are we just going to repeat the same plotline, while just upping the gore? Maybe its a good thing most zombie movies have a definitive end.

Something to consider. I know two people who were super into the comics at one point, but both stopped reading about the same time Negan's character was introduced.

Without spoiling too much, Negan's introduction (and the conclusion to his plot line) is where the comic, IMO, turned a corner and transitioned into something else. Now, the conclusion of the prison storyline in the comic did make me drop the book for a bit. Hard as it is to believe, the TV was much gentler on viewers.

huh. i wasn't a huge fan of the comic... made it as far as the prison (not to its conclusion) and felt the writing was too goofy and never looked back. might have to pick it up again just to see how the current storyline pans out.

to me, the gruesome storyline is just a setup for the rest of the season... to heighten tension by underscoring how menacing the antagonist is and to sweeten the payoff on what i suspect to be his eventual downfall.

I'm hoping that Daryl ends up being the hero since he was the only one stupid/ballsy enough to try something, anything. Felt kinda sorry for Glen with his eye and all.

And then seeing his/her love interest just helpless looking at him/her in shock... UGH...

I kept thinking the whole time "Wow the FCC has become really lenient on the content they allow..."

Q: Does the FCC regulate the content of cable programming?

A: Cable television system operators generally make their own selection of channels and programs to be distributed to subscribers in response to consumer demands. The Commission does, however, have rules in some areas that are applicable to programming -- called "origination cablecasting" in the rules -- that are subject to the editorial control of the cable system operator. The rules generally do not apply to the content of broadcast channels or to access channels over which the cable system operator has no editorial control.

Shows on AMC can. and have, dropped the F word and can do so without restriction.

We must all remember this is for entertainment only and children under 35 should not watch.:) I know a lot of people become wrapped up in this but it is a TV show.
