Building an actual sign, running power, paying for power, etc maybe. Sounded reasonable to me but I have precisely "none at all" experience on signs.

I suspect getting power to it would be difficult and expensive. Everything is buried over there and extensive conduit is bound to be required.

You are right about that, I ran across a guy the other day needing $7500 to do a steampunk remodel on his travel trailer.....

1. It's not a government contract. Has NOTHING to do with any governmental entity.

2. Quality custom signage is not cheap. The first "Bricktown" sign over Sheridan ran about $25K installed....15 or so years ago. A high-quality pole sign in front of a business can range from $15K to $50 K depending on variables.

3. I'd imagine $5K-$10K of this is the electrical work required to get power to this location.

Not to mention any costs associated with putting the signage on railroad property. Was the space donated, or is there a long term lease?

This. Custom cut channel signs are expensive. Even a decent sized box sign can run in the thousands. You can save costs buy buying generic pre-fab letters, but if you can raise the money to get something custom and nicer, then why not? It looks like they are well on their way towards raising the funds... I think these community driven improvements are great.

Every bit of that. $7,500.00 minimum these days. I have had to have power installed to many different projects on 'public property'. This one will def involve a bit more work. Baseline installation on most meter services is def around $5k.

Hate to bring this up, but speaking about signs. We went down E.K. Gaylord the other night and the 'Pricktown' sign is back on Reno on the RR bridge. I took a picture, need to send it to Jimmy Fallon or someone. I saw this years ago but it had been fixed for years. We had a good laugh.

I believe it. My friend who owns a veterinarian clinic in MWC had a bid to replace his sign out front after storm/tornado damage and it was going to be nearly $20K. Needless to say he opted for a much smaller sign than he had originally.
