It's a sad day. I always loved going out to Twelve Oaks for special occasions.

As for the article, it's sort of odd. It leads with the fact that the restaurant is closing because of the weakness in the local economy, but it fails to provide any details to support that idea.

As with most DO articles it's written for the 4th grade reading level, why bother with supporting arguments.

I don't know much about the restaurant... so this is only speculation, but from the information provided, the original owner ran it until 2012, and then the kids took over. A specialty restaurant like this is often defined by the character of the person running it, and I've seen time and time again that they don't survive the loss of the original person (especially if the folks who take over weren't closely involved in running it before - no idea if this is the case). But considering they took over the place just a few years ago, and from the article, put money into upgrades, I'm hesitant to jump into the "blame the local economy" wagon. The restaurant business is tough in the best of economies.
