I had always used the optometrist at Costco and also bought by glasses there, but alas, yet another quirk of Oklahoma law seems to prevent a similar setup at Sam's Club.
Looking for recommendation for inexpensive eye exam for glasses and also good value place for frames and lenses. TIA.

Not sure on pricing, but I'm a big fan of Midtown Optical in the same complex as McNellie's
Thanks, would love to support a local business.
I'll call to see their prices... If at least in the ballpark I'll give them a try.

I work at a place called Dick Story Optical. Been here since 1971. It's in North Penn Plaza, west side of Penn across the street from PSM and Cheesecake Factory. We don't have a doctor, just a total "retail" establishment. But I would love for you to come in! We sell a ton of frames you can't find anywhere else in the state and we finish all of our lenses in house. So if you do buy anything, I would be the one cutting them! We are sell a lot of nice frames, so I will not claim to be the cheapest, but it would be a great way to meet you Pete! And I can help you find a good shape or design for ya!
And to sort of answers your question, the 2 best places to purchase eyewear in the metro, as unbiased as I can be, are TSO up in Edmond, and here at Dick Story. Dr. Ross in leadership Square does a better eye exam then at Midtown. Dr. Massengale on 27th and I-35 in Moore is fantastic and has a great Optical shop as well.
But forget about them, haha. Come in and see me!

Pete,
Action Family Vision Care has been taking care of my family's glasses for a lot of years. They are very reasonable. The address is 1010 North Penn, on the East side of Penn, Just South of N. W. 10th street.

Not local, but you can get frames and lenses from Warby Parker for really cheap.
Shop Good sells a lot of their frames or you can have them send you different options to try on for free.

That's where I go as well. I really enjoy Dr. Greenhaw.

I've used Dr Fox at SW 104/Penn for fifteen years, only eye doctor my kids have ever gone to as well.
Looks like the going rate is about $100 for eyeglass exam.
Here is where i really miss Costco... $49 plus they have great prices on frames and lenses.

It is one of the reasons I miss them as well, but doesn't Oklahoma have some weird law about optical centers in stores? I always figured there must be, otherwise why aren't they in Sam's and WalMart Super Centers?

Yes, of course. Another silly law that ends up being bad for the consumer.
Ended up going for my eye exam at Midtown Optical.
Really great experience there -- highly recommend.
