If they can survive with slow-developing word-of-mouth, I'm good with it. It's nice to have an option that's not slammed with dudebros.

Bleu is great but that crowd is something else, especially at peak times. dankrutka 08-10-2017, 01:48 PM They would benefit from at least social media promotion. It's amazing how many local businesses fail without even trying to promote themselves on free social media platforms. TheTravellers 08-10-2017, 02:04 PM Or (to be restaurant-specific) putting up a free website with their menu and hours and phone number on it. C'mon y'all, it's 17 years into the 21st century, get with it! johnnyhooper 08-10-2017, 02:37 PM For those interested in following: https://www.instagram.com/theyardokc/ https://twitter.com/theyardokc https://www.facebook.com/pg/theyardokc https://www.theyardokc.com/ Urbanized 08-10-2017, 02:55 PM Oh...so they DO have social media..? ;) Anonymous. 08-10-2017, 03:12 PM Just having social media accounts doesn't cut it anymore. You need promotions. Share contests, tag another friend contests, 'mention this post' for a free X tonight. Snapchat filters, trivia hosts, good specials, buckets, big time sporting event watch parties with deals. I feel so many owners are worried about making money right after opening, that they forget to get people there in the first place. You must build a clientele in this competitive, vastly expanding restaurant and bar sector of OKC. If you want to see an example of someone who did it right, look @ Kong's marketing. They went viral on a local social media level and now everyone knows where the big gorilla out front is. Opening your door and saying "Hey, look we have $4 beer" doesn't cut it anymore. And that's a great thing. Pete 08-10-2017, 03:12 PM Nobody said they didn't have it. aDark 08-11-2017, 10:08 AM Just having social media accounts doesn't cut it anymore. You need promotions. And that's a great thing. Is Kong's successful? I've never been and never had any friends suggest it. It's highly probable that I'm not the target audience, haha. Richard at Remax 08-11-2017, 10:19 AM Lots of dudebros at Kongs. But since I have enjoyed it when I have gone I guess I'm a dudebro too. I know it's easy to criticize them, but unfortunately the dudebros bring the $$$. Jeepnokc 08-11-2017, 10:21 AM Lots of dudebros at Kongs. What is the definition of "dudebro"? shawnw 08-11-2017, 10:26 AM I think it might be a nicer term for duchebag? Richard at Remax 08-11-2017, 10:28 AM MY definition is a guy of any age who: gets too drunk to fast, can't just sit and relax, loud and obnoxious, takes lots of shots, and tries to be buddies with everyone at the bar, ESP in the line for the bathroom. Which is not me. shawnw 08-11-2017, 10:30 AM You haven't convinced me yet that it's not a nicer term for douchebag.... Richard at Remax 08-11-2017, 10:32 AM It's the PC term for douchebag Jeepnokc 08-11-2017, 10:34 AM It's the PC term for douchebag Got it. Thanks Martin 08-11-2017, 01:16 PM shows how out of touch i am... i was thinking the area of intersection on a venn diagram of dudes and bros. Pete 06-05-2018, 09:57 AM They've really done a nice job here with lots of little improvements. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/yard060318.jpg aDark 06-05-2018, 10:21 AM Just wanted to say that this place is fantastic. Good service. Plenty of seating and shade. The large tree in the back (north) of the Yard which is covered in lights is really impressive. Best patio for a beer in midtown. It feels like the more adult version of Bleu Garten, which is nice. I firmly believe this spot will continue to see success as word spreads. The additional residential which is still coming online in the AutoAlley area should be helpful. Once the 8th St. Market is filled I suspect this little street will start to compete with 9th for foot traffic. Are people allowed to smoke cigars while in the Yard? baralheia 06-11-2018, 02:30 PM Looks really nice, I really ought to get out that way and check it out sometime soon. Any word if the Phase 2 to the immediate west is still going to happen? I know it will be different than previously depicted, just haven't heard of any movement on the expansion yet. Anonymous. 06-11-2018, 06:22 PM I was there for the first show and it was great. The production value here for events is very impressive for a container bar establishment. They are also spending a lot of money on social media advertising. The cigars were sold @ a tent on site and yes you could smoke them in the venue. Anonymous. 07-20-2020, 10:47 AM I haven't seen any official posts on social media, but word on the street is their final weekend just occurred. Too bad, considering Parlor is about to re-open across the street. Pete 07-20-2020, 11:35 AM Yes, I can confirm they are now closed for good. I keep saying this but PPP money is starting to run out and you are going to see lots more closures of restaurants, bars and businesses in general. brian72 07-20-2020, 11:55 AM I Hope downtown doesn't turn into 1985 down there. That was a great time. dankrutka 07-20-2020, 12:37 PM It's unfortunate because an outdoor space like this is much, much safer than indoor bars. shartel_ave 04-29-2022, 09:44 AM What happened to that beer garden in automobile alley just east of broadway around 6th?
