View Full Version : Weekly pickup sports
Anyone interested in daily a weekly pickup game of basketball or something of the sort with OKCTalk members?
If not, any recommendations for where I could find something like that?
Thomas Vu 11-05-2015, 04:29 PM I'd be down for that too. If you're Asian, I know some community hosts leagues on the weekend.
bradh 11-05-2015, 08:56 PM I am terrible at hoops but would be down for anything (golf league, tennis, softball, etc).
OKCinsomniac 11-05-2015, 10:17 PM I always had fun playing WAKA kickball, and to a lesser extent, at the plex or whatever it is now.
(Hoops/ tennis /rowing/ terrible soccer /runner /cyclist here)
Thomas Vu 11-06-2015, 08:33 AM Anybody else play racketball? I'm down for whatever, never played golf.
BrettM2 11-06-2015, 08:46 AM If it isn't overly competitive, I'd be interested. I'm not in the best shape of my life but would love to start playing again.
Oh definitely wouldn't want to do anything too competitive, Just for fun.

Well I would use the word play loosely... But yes I throw myself recklessly around a racquetball court in the cold months when I can't play golf.
Roger S 11-06-2015, 08:55 AM I might be up for something over the winter months if it's a Wednesday or Thursday... Those are my yard work and golf nights and I'm pretty much done with both until next spring.
boitoirich 11-06-2015, 11:32 AM Yep.
Teo9969 11-06-2015, 11:44 AM I play defense a bit too much like Kanter and offense a bit too much like Roberson...
Which is exactly what most of us do.
bradh 11-06-2015, 10:00 PM Are we too terrible to take the cage over one evening a week?
I think we are. And I just noticed you changed your name.
I was hoping someone might have the keys to a church gym or something like that and we could play on a set day every week.
bradh 11-10-2015, 04:44 PM My church actually has Thursday night pick up games if you're interested
If its up in piedmont I don't think I can make it ;)
But seriously, I might be interested depending on time and location.

Filthy 11-11-2015, 04:18 PM I play pick up ball a few times a week up at Key Health. Not sure if anyone else goess up there, but the facilities are pretty nice. And I'm not tooting my own horn or anything, but I'm probably the best: short, bald, fat, white guy between the ages of 38.5 and 39 that balls up there. So, I'm down to hoop any time.

Do you have a membership or do they allow a daily entry?
BrettM2 11-11-2015, 05:10 PM Would any of the YMCA courts work? I'm not sure what their open gyms look like though I do know they are about to start the youth leagues.
rjm1991 11-14-2015, 05:46 PM Im down for some pick up games. I just moved here and Ive been trying to find a place that has courts for some Saturday or Sunday afternoon pick up games.
