I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this but I'm going to be adding stuff to this off and on all day long. I've already included a couple projects and will include more. I will eventually try and include everything including street and highway project, new light rail lines, and projects in Norman and Edmond as well as the other burbs. Feel free to add to it as I left it open for editing. I just colored blue for proposed and orange for U/C but feel free to make changes if you have a better idea. :)

That works. I'm excited about this. I love maps and being able to view everything on the map as it relates to each other. It think it gives a cool view of how the city is being developed. I loved the old one that we had.

Wow! This is great! I love it. One suggestion: Half of the streetcar route is a dark thin line instead of a wide brown line. Thanks for sharing this.

also, a few projects are missing including the Cummings Building, the new flag hotel for Andy Patel, the Criterion Music Hall, so on.

Honestly, this is not a slam but instead it just shows how much is going on downtown even during this 'slump' in the economy.

Yeah I'm going to be constantly adding new projects and feel free to add any of your own the map is open to editing:)

Cool project. I like it a lot. Just from a quick glance you can add the Residential Colleges being added just across Lindsey from the stadium at OU, soon all of West Lindsey between I-35 and Flood, and a lot more to come now that Norman Forward has passed. Maybe at some point I'll try to add in some more Norman stuff. :)

Thanks. I know there a few pretty nice new residential developments going around OU. If no one else does, I'll dig them up later and add. I tried to add a couple Campus Corner projects. I didn't know if the 5 story one has finished up or not.

I've added tons of stuff and I noticed some others have as well. Thank you. Feel free to add whatever I missed and I'm going to keep looking through to see what I missed and will add more to OU Campus area later.

The 5 story project on Campus Corner still has a ways to go.

I did notice a modern apartment project finishing up off Imhoff west of Chautauqua behind the 7-Eleven. Surprisingly, there haven't been many modern residential designs in Norman.

I know it's hard with the 100 article cap..

Great job on the map! Any idea of a timeline of the expansions of the freeways?

Great job on the map! Any idea of a timeline of the expansions of the freeways? Not too sure though I believe ODOT wants to prioritize the widening of 240 and I-40 pretty quickly so I'd guess within the next 5 years one of those highways gets widened.

They need to fix pinch points like the Crossroads interchange, not increase capacity. If they really need to blow a bunch of money, fixing 40/44 will be very expensive. 44 is easily the worst freeway in OKC.

That's not development though...

I do agree with this. Before they add any capacity to freeways, the interchanges need to be fixed bad. I would also like to see money diverted to funding a light-rail system to give people the option before any new capacity is added as well.

The map is cool but I'd make separate layers for certain types of developments so you can turn off the layers you don't want to see. For example I see you have some color coding going on. Well put each of those colors on a different layer maybe....

So I just added the new mixed-use development at Lincoln and I-44. It is a bit inaccurate bc the news article has the development at 134 acres and the area I drew it at it 175 acres so someone else or I will redraw it when the exact boundaries are defined.

I think pretty almost every project is included now and WOW. So much going on it's exciting. Now I want to see some more stuff happening in Downtown Edmond, Norman, and Guthrie. I would like to add Stillwater to it which I probably will just for fun.

Stillwater stuff? You added 1 grocery store. Apparently Stillwater has a new craft brewery in downtown that I never heard of.

I always say if you're going to report on a geography, do it well, or don't do it at all.

Plutonic Panda
12-27-2015, 05:09 PM
Yeah. And an additional development called Bourbon St. I don't really care about Stillwater and as such I don't read their paper everyday or waste my time searching for building permits. So if there is anything you are aware of that I missed, please feel free to add to it. It is an open edit map for a reason.

Edit: There are a couple Zaxby's but I spent the better part of maybe 1-2 minutes before I decided I no longer wanted to pursue finding the exact locations where they are going, so I simply didn't add them.

Spartan
12-28-2015, 01:04 AM
You missed my point. If you don't really care about Stillwater, then why start with a grocery store and leave it at that?

Stick to what ya do well PluPan! Best advice I've ever gotten.

Spartan

Are you guys going to change projects over to on-hold?

I also think as stuff gets canceled its REALLY valuable to retain on these lists. I have a theory that all of this stuff eventually comes around, someone else is likely to have the same idea, etc.

Pete
02-07-2016, 01:55 PM
We have a 'dead' project list.

What do you think should be moved to 'on-hold'?

Plutonic Panda
02-07-2016, 02:19 PM
For starters I would include AICC, OGE Tower, Gold Dome, since those things have some uncertainty.

Pete
02-07-2016, 04:22 PM
OG&E is dead, not stalled and the other two are progressing.

Plutonic Panda
02-07-2016, 04:33 PM
Oh. So what does on-hold mean then? It literally just sits there with no talk or anything about it?

Pete
02-07-2016, 04:46 PM
I guess what I'm saying is I don't see a need for designating anything as on hold.

Flatiron Phase 2? OK Contemporary? Where is that Canopy Hotel? FNC is getting AICC'd by the state (tax credits). Sycamore Square expansion or whatever that's called? Anything Dowell related? The Civic condos? That C2S law firm?

There's more that's just off memory. I am NOT trying to make OKC look bad. Honestly I am impressed that my gut tells me downtown will be buoyed by the national trend into cities, and ride the storm around the rest of the state. I hope. But it's natural that stuff will fall off.

Flatiron 2 is future development, not on hold. It was never expected to start soon.

Canopy has moved to Bodyworks site and a new hotel is going in at Sheridan and Oklahoma.

FNC is moving forward every day.

Sycamore Square is moving forward.

Dowell is already working on Dowell Center and everything else of his is complete.

Civic condos are well under construction.

Law Firm project in C2S is dead.

Is it possible to shift these to a different category or map once completed? It seems a shame to lose the coordinates and links on the site for projects once done.

Pete
02-15-2016, 08:10 AM
It would be nice to have a different color / category for complete, under construction and planned.

Plutonic Panda
02-15-2016, 02:49 PM
We have Orange for u/c, blue for proposed(would proposed be planned?), so if someone wants to make one for complete feel free! How long should the completed projects stay on the map?

baralheia
02-16-2016, 09:42 AM
I had actually added a "Completed Projects" category (colored light gray) some time ago, but it appears to have been removed. :( Completed projects could stay on the map pretty much indefinitely, as you can turn the display of entire categories on and off with just one checkbox, but we might want to standardize with adding a completion date either to the title or body of the info popup. If we do want completed projects to drop off, I'd say the time limit should be something like 6 months to a year or so...

Also, how are we defining the cut between "Proposed" and "Under Construction"? Does a project flip to U/C when a permit is issued, or once dirt starts moving? My thought would be once actual construction begins, but what do you guys say?

baralheia
02-16-2016, 12:46 PM
I went ahead and added the "Completed" category back.
