One of my friends brought these back from Philly and they are amazing. I would like to see midtown/23rd street location. God knows that are could support it with OCU, ACM, Plaza District, etc.
Sugar rush: Late-night cookie shop entering Oklahoma
By: Molly M. Fleming The Journal Record October 5, 2015
STILLWATER – The state’s first Insomnia Cookies is slated for a Cowboy-supporting city, making it the company’s westernmost location.
The former Pita Pit at 215 S. Washington St. will house the late-night cookie ordering company. City of Stillwater Developmental Services Administrative Coordinator Cindy Gibson said the company has filed a building permit for the 750-square-foot space. She said the permit does not list a contractor. The company has 180 days to start remodeling the space.
Insomnia Cookies Senior Marketing Director Megan Bruton said via email the store will open in 2016.
Equity Realty Broker Rainey Powell said the company has signed a letter of intent regarding its plans in Norman, at 311 W. Boyd St. on Campus Corner. The 2,000-square-foot Pita Pit will be remodeled into two separate spaces, one for the restaurant and another for Insomnia Cookies.
The shop is one of several changes coming to the Campus Corner area.
Burton said via email that Stillwater is an ideal location for the made-to-order treat company. She couldn’t comment on the Norman site because plans are still in development.
“We seek active communities that we can become an integral part of,” she wrote. “Due to our late-night hours, we are a favorite for college students, and therefore many of our locations are located near campuses, as well, although it is not a necessity. We are excited to have Stillwater in our plans.”
Then-student Seth Berkowitz started Insomnia Cookies in 2003 at a University of Pennsylvania dorm room. The company now has more than 70 locations, mostly east of the Mississippi River. All stores are corporately owned.
Customers can receive cookies, brownies, cookie cakes and even cold milk. Most stores also deliver ice cream. Deliveries are available from 4 p.m. until 3 a.m. on weekdays, and 1 p.m. to 3 a.m. on weekends. The maximum delivery distance depends on each location.
