I noticed the now permanently closed Bali-hai lounge at NW 16th and May has been getting some renovations over the past few months. I didn't find any info on this site so I thought I would share what I found on okc.gov. The building has an expensive rezoning application (SPUD-00787) and two issued building permits. I just drive by it everyday and don't know for sure the name of the new bar, just what I found in the application. I'm adding some images from the application if you don't want to look through it.

Wow, thanks for digging all that up!
Looks very interesting.
So pizza planet is staying and this is just for the southern portion?

As a former gruntry folkabilly musician. I have to say the name alone makes me want to hang out there.

Dang, I always wanted to make it to Bali-Hai on a dive bar night. Oh well, at least the replacement shows promise.

Bali Hai was a 3.2 beer bar. This place is going to be a full service bar. It's being opened by some of the Hi-lo crew.

Good location for Energy Game crowds while they're still at Taft. I assume with no real kitchen to speak of, this will be ABC-3?

Yeah, I knew it was 3.2, but it had such a retro vibe that I really wanted to experience it. Oh, well, that's my fault. Happy about the new place. It might have been in the Energy thread, but back when people were wondering out loud what could be a soccer pre- and post-game spot after the Taft move, I actually suggested Bali-Hai.

It was a pretty decent bar. Pretty much all locals with a low hipster quotient. Lot of the regulars from the other 16th street dives.

I did like the Bali Hai, very friendly place. I just wish some of these neighborhood bars were non-smoking though. I sometimes can't finish one beer without my eyes starting to burn. This is Oklahoma though, get used to it or go to the "hipster bars" I guess.
