Rock & Brews (http://rockandbrews.com/)
The original is out here in El Segundo, a real beer garden setting which I absolutely love.
Only locations are El Segundo, Redondo Beach, and Los Cabos.
Coming soon: LAX, Hawaii, Albuquerque and the KC area.
Praedura 07-07-2013, 01:54 PM Far out man! (<--- 70's lingo)
I wonder what got his interest in an OKC location?
kevinpate 07-07-2013, 02:01 PM Hot dang, another burger and pizza concept. Does look a tad more fun than some of the others.
I'm sure it's due to a local franchisee.
catch22 07-07-2013, 02:04 PM Probably HSRG....
catch22 07-07-2013, 02:05 PM Toby Keith, KD, Gene Simmons.

Looks similar to The Rock Wood Fired Pizza & Spirits (http://www.therockwfp.com/) places we have up here (they started in Tacoma), it is a music themed place and pretty good.
sgt. pepper 07-08-2013, 09:00 AM OKC is not listed as a future location on the web site. I won't believe it till I see it. Got to have more that a supposedly twitter from Gene Simmons.
catch22 07-08-2013, 09:27 AM Well it did come from his confirmed and verified by twitter account:

Word on the virtural street has it they are going to specialize in tongue sandiwiches.
ctchandler 07-09-2013, 12:42 PM RM,
You just ruined my appetite, I guess I won't be going there anytime soon.

p.s. It was pretty funny though!

Really like the original location in El Segundo but haven't been to any of the newer or franchised spots.
Puckered up for Oklahoma: KISS-inspired Rock & Brews plotted for OKC, Tulsa

TULSA – Oklahoma could see its first KISS-inspired Rock & Brews restaurant open next year.
On May 1 in Overland Park, Kan., franchisee Kanbrews LLC of Topeka, Kan., will open the first of five planned Kansas and Oklahoma locations. Once the bugs are worked out, owner Kirk Williams intends to scout for sites in Tulsa and Oklahoma City for possible openings the following summer.
“In my mind, Bricktown becomes an obvious target to begin your search in Oklahoma City,” said Williams, who is also president of Topeka’s Legacy Restaurant Group. “In Tulsa we could possibly be looking at two or three different areas, depending on having the right number of rooftops.”
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, founders of the legendary rock band KISS, launched El Segundo, Calif.-based Rock & Brews in 2012 with hospitality entrepreneur Michael Zislis and music industry veterans Dave and Dell Furano.
With 5,100 square feet under roof and a 1,500-square-foot patio, Rock & Brews marks a possible return to large dining concepts that struggled after the 2008 recession. This concept combines hamburgers, pizza and other items of American cuisine with a full bar, all cast in a post-concert theme decorated by rock memorabilia, multiple televisions and plentiful rock music.
“Certainly KISS is a part of that, but you’re going to see Bruce Springsteen on the wall, and U2 on the wall, and Pink Floyd and AC/DC,” Williams said. “You’re going to see all kinds of rock ‘n’ roll on the walls. It’s not just a tribute to KISS.”
The chain’s family orientation includes a play area and dog-friendly policies.
“It is not a live concert venue,” said Williams, noting the lack of a stage. “This is 27 TVs in a very family-friendly environment that would play music videos and concert footage and yet, if the appropriate football or basketball game is on, a number of TVs would be on the regional sports.”
Rock & Brews operates three Los Angeles restaurants, one in Los Cabos, Mexico, and one in Paia, Hawaii, on Maui. Locations are under development in Arizona, New Mexico, Florida and Texas.
Williams’ franchise marks the first of several anticipated Rock & Brews expansion agreements. Besides its five-year Kansas and Oklahoma pact, Kanbrews has an option for another five openings in Missouri and Nebraska.
Legacy operates 21 Wendy’s restaurants in Kansas and Missouri.
Williams said he expects to use Lenexa, Kan., contractor 2Point Construction for his building efforts, from plans by Rees Masilionis Turley Architecture of Kansas City, Mo.
“2Point has done two of my Wendy’s remodels,” said Williams.
warreng88 03-11-2014, 11:51 AM How big is the old Joker's comedy club? I could see it going in there.
catch22 03-11-2014, 12:04 PM Why would they only put one in OKC and "2 to 3" in Tulsa?
Not taking a bchris stance at all, but are our demographics really that bad?

Could be wrong, but I think he meant that they are looking at 2 or 3 areas as options for their Tulsa location whereas Bricktown would be their choice location in OKC.
If they don't have to do a new build out, this sounds like a great option to fill the old Coaches space in the Ballpark. It seems like a large enough space, not sure if it's over 5,000 sq ft. though.

That is: 229 E. Sheridan - OKCTalk (http://www.okctalk.com/showwiki.php?title=229%20E%20Sheridan).
About the right size although they would have a hard time accommodating a large enough patio.

Fantastic idea. Especially since they position themselves as family friendly.

Those are some major Bricktown Buzzwords lately.
How big is the Patio overlooking the stadium? I think they could find plenty of space around that building for additional patio area if that wasn't big enough.

Not sure what kind of condition it's in, but a rooftop patio would do well there. Nothing else immediately west of it is over one story so there would be unobstructed views of DT. The patio at Coach's is a pretty good size. It might be 1,500 square feet.

That makes sense. Guess my reading comprehension is lacking today.

okatty 07-08-2015, 09:37 AM Read some of the reviews on these in other locations. Mixed is a fair description. But probably a fun place and unique chain to land here.

The old Coaches space in the Bricktown Ballpark is 10,213 total SF (9,195 SF indoors & 1,018 SF of patio).
It's a BIG space!
will be at 2737 Memorial Road. The two-story building that began as Don Pablo's boasts more than 7,700 square feet. It previously was home to Buddha Tao followed by its most recent occupant, Dan O’Brien's.
There are several of these out here in Southern California and they are quite popular.
Hopefully they can find the right formula to make it work in this jinxed location.
jerrywall 07-08-2015, 11:54 AM I live close to this area, so the proximity is nice, but I really which they'd stop trying to make restaurants and bars work on that strip. They're harder to get to, the traffic sucks, and it's just such a bland, whitewashed area. I would have much rather seen them in Chisholm Creek or Bricktown.
Jersey Boss 07-08-2015, 01:54 PM I wonder if tongue sandwiches will be offered?
Edgar 07-08-2015, 02:25 PM Gene Simmons is such a total Johnson. Did anyone hear the NPR interview with Terri Gross in which he kept making sexually inappropriate comments to her like he was in 6th grade.
jn1780 07-08-2015, 03:05 PM I don't give this place good odds of surviving in the location they picked.
Looks like a pretty ambitious remodel:

Dustin 07-08-2015, 03:31 PM Why not downtown? They had to put it on a one way street in front of an ugly culinary school at a cursed location??
Oy vey!
jerrywall 07-08-2015, 03:50 PM Exactly... and this seems like the kind of place that would have some draw, so it would be great if they had put it in an area where other business are walkable that could benefit. Again, Chisholm Creek would have been a great fit, or Bricktown.
Chadanth 07-08-2015, 09:43 PM The Steelyard would have been great, across from a music venue, with two hotels on the property, etc.
OKCretro 07-09-2015, 10:55 AM a rock n roll chili's? pass
fromdust 09-24-2015, 05:55 PM Saw on Craigslist that they are hiring waitstaff. Should be opening soon.
I absolutely hate the location. I think Bricktown would be a better location, or if they want to stay out there Chisholm Creek would be awesome.
adaniel 09-24-2015, 06:01 PM The location they are building in Dallas is actually in the Colony. So they clearly like their suburban locations to be extra sprawly.
Urbanized 09-24-2015, 08:15 PM That's where their target market lives. Smart business decision. Glad they're not in Bricktown. The themed restaurants in Bricktown are primarily locally-based and locally-themed, and it's healthiest for the district if it stays that way.
GaryOKC6 10-25-2015, 09:02 AM Going to the advance party "trial run" on Tuesday. They will also have a dog friendly patio.
John Knight 10-27-2015, 04:28 PM Man they are moving quick. Scheduled to open late next week.

OkieHornet 10-27-2015, 04:58 PM their facebook says they open tomorrow (wed, oct 28).
Ran into Rick Sinnett last night at Powerhouse and he's doing the murals for this project and they've contracted with him to do all their new sites around the country.
Sinnett is the muralist behind the massive display on the Rocktown silo.
Urbanized 10-28-2015, 06:42 AM ^^^^^^
Ha ha was just getting ready to post this. Rick has been posting updates on social media for the past couple of weeks showing the individual band logos and images as he was working on them. Sorry I missed him at Powerhouse. He's a good dude.
Rock & Brews officially opened today.
I've been to the original in El Segundo, CA but that is a very different place than these newer locations.
Curious to see the vibe and see how it is received here.
OKCisOK4me 10-29-2015, 08:31 PM I sure hope they can break the curse. May have to check it out on Saturday!

What curse?
bradh 10-30-2015, 11:58 AM What curse?
that location
When it was Budda Tao, we went one night where there was the rock band that plays behind you while you sing karaoke. For the life of me I can't remember what they were called, but would love to find them somewhere again.
OKCisOK4me 10-30-2015, 05:16 PM What curse?
Was originally Don Pablo's Mexican Restaurant, then Buddha Tao, then Dan O'Briens, then whatever....now this.
MadMonk 11-02-2015, 01:26 PM Went there Friday night. Pretty cool atmosphere, good music (not too loud) and very friendly staff. I loved the pulled pork sandwich, which was big enough for me to take half of it home for leftovers. Nice beer selection too (including several COOP varieties). We'll definitely be back.
In my short time back, I've become a big fan of COOP, particularly the Native Amber.

Try the DNR. Goooooood stuff.

I've had that several times too and really like it but I need to check the alcohol content because it makes me a bit loopy. :)

just drink slowly, since it's 10% abv!
just drink slowly, since it's 10% abv!
And there's my answer.
I knew it was strong.
Urbanized 11-02-2015, 04:08 PM As far as I know it's (still) the highest ABV of any beer brewed in the state. But DNR isn't something you can just sit and drink like Native Amber. That is pretty much a one and done beer, and while the first one is delicious you sortof feel like you need to bring a lunch pail and punch the clock for subsequent servings. It turns into work.
Pete, if you like Native Amber (which is my favorite beer, period, not just my favorite local), you should also try Roughtail 12th Round.
