Trying to figure out what is the best, nicest/clean hotel in OKC metro area.

Goal is to get out of the house with wife, celebrate in town (because our kids are busy!) but away from home/kids an anniversary.

Here's the list I have so far ... but never been to or know anyone who has stayed at these places other than Skirvin.

- Skirvin (http://www.skirvinhilton.com/)
- Colcord (http://www.colcordhotel.com/)
- Ambassador (http://www.ambassadorhotelcollection.com/oklahomacity/)
- Aloft (http://www.aloftoklahomacitybricktown.com/) (maybe because it's newer?)
- Waterford (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/okcwa-waterford-marriott/)

The Ambassador looks like what I'd prefer just based on reading about it. But, haven't been there so anyone have first-hand knowledge on any of these - or others that I might be overlooking.

$ Budget - don't really have one. Just a one night stay so cost not too worried about.

Hopefully this isn't posting two times as I tried doing this one other time and it timed out or something happened. And, hoping this is a good topic for this forum.

thanks in advance!!

I've had clients stay at both Colcord and Skirvin in past few months and liked them both. Can't speak to Ambassador but looks great and nice location in midtown. Also other than just being in Aloft, don't have experience with rooms.

I personally would nix Waterford from the list. Have fun!

The Ambassador is great, but it's not really in downtown so I'd recommend either the Skrivin or Colcord.

Also, the new Holiday Inn Express is extremely nice and well-located. They have a few suites on the west side that have great skyline views.

Just don't plan it for next weekend (May 21-23). The Republicans have a big national shindig with all of the candidates for president. Press and attendees have a lot of hotels locked up and they are quite expensive for those dates (imagine). Whenever you go, have a great time!

thanks pete. downtown is not a must - bricktown/downtown would be nice but wanting something on the A+ side. Sounds like other than Waterford, list is pretty good choices.

I second what Pete said on that HIE in Bricktown, great access to everything

Have you considered a B&B in/near OKC instead?
Might be a way around the rebumplikins issue that overlaps your date.

I have not. Only researched the hotels .. b&b didn't come to mind but that might be a nice option.
will do some searching on that.
Thanks!

The Ambassador isn't quite downtown, but it's only 6-10 blocks from it, plus all the cool Midtown offerings in that area are less likely to be frequented by the GOP crowds than the Bricktown offerings (except maybe Red Prime, Packards, and Broadway 10, and those are really only for the big-donor types most likely).

Only staying one night - then I would make it the Ambassador. Very nice rooms, quite, and chances are you will be enjoying the rooftop bar a good portion of the evening anyhow.

Before dinner drink at Louies, dinner at 1492, ice cream at Kaisers, and finish it off at the Viceroy rooftop bar. The next morning breakfast at Waffle Champion, walk over to the Oklahoma Heritage Center, then stroll thru Mesta Park/HH, tour the Overhoulser Mansion and have a late lunch somewhere along 10th.

We stayed at the AMBASSADOR and it was convienient to various eateries and such. We ate at Stella. The 2 downsides were, shutters on the windows did not effectively block outside light. I like a dark room when sleeping and their aren't any curtains. With the bar upstairs, come closing time it gets quite noisy on the street. We stayed on the fifth floor.

You could always go see all the Republican candidates for president! (kidding)
Here's the line-up of speakers. They will all be here and they're calling it the unofficial kickoff of the 2016 GOP campaign. First event with all candidates participating and the infamous Straw Poll. Southern Republican Leadership Conference - Speakers | Oklahoma City 2015 (http://www.srlc.gop/events/southern-republican-leadership-conference/speakers-c98988953d0f406c8aedc02da46c0a7e.aspx)

You've received some great suggestions above. So many things to do...we could have never said that just a few short years ago.

I stayed at the new Embassy Suites by the medical center a few weekends ago and thought it was great. You could still smell the paint and new carpet. The staff was excellent and the location was just a short - really short - drive to Bricktown/Downtown (even though that wasn't a must for this trip).

A friend of mine from Phoenix stayed at The Colcord earlier this week, and he was very impressed.

Check out Air B&B. I've known a few people that stayed in some very cool lofts around downtown that were much nicer than a hotel. Also a few cool garage apartments in Heritage Hills are listed on there too.

It was cheaper than a hotel. They found it on Air B&B.

There really are some incredible places in and around downtown and the rates are great....

Who wouldn't want this in Midtown over a hotel room that costs twice as much?

I'm friends with the couple that has this unit and its unbelievable for a studio and on a great street in Heritage Hills.

Dang, I need to call them and see if they would be willing come down a few dollars and do like a 4 month deal.

Some of the best AirBnB's actually get taken for months at a time. I know someone with the coolest loft off Broadway and it gets rented months at a time by those in the oil and gas industry. Same happens with several other really cool locations.
