View Full Version : Duke's Mayonaise now in OKC!!!
terryinokc 05-11-2015, 11:37 AM This is a long-awaited milestone here in OKC....the arrival of Duke's Mayonaise.
I was at WM Supercenter Saturday...and there in their center display area were cases of Duke's.
For people that don't know....Google Duke's Mayonaise...there is a cult following. It is literally the best mayo in the country...and until now, not in Oklahoma stores. You can order it directly online...which is what I have been doing for several years. It is primarly marketed along the East coast and in the South.
Make some potato salad or have it on your favorite salad....you'll be hooked!
Everyone check it out....it will become your new favorite. And join the Duke's Cult.......:)
jompster 05-11-2015, 01:18 PM Everyone knows tater salad ain't right without Duke's.
Brett 05-16-2015, 06:49 PM I gave Duke's mayonnaise the old college try. It is a bit tart compared to others but has a definite, unique flavor. It is pretty good. I grew up on Miracle Whip and still enjoy it. A real surprise is the State Fair brand Real Mayonnaise that can also be found at Wal-Mart SuperCenters. It is inexpensive and tastes like very good homemade mayonnaise.

Recipe I used didn't call for horseradish.
Jersey Boss 05-23-2015, 12:16 PM It must be my Eastern European background having a knee jerk reaction. Lol

I found about a half dozen different recipes. So I went with the one I thought most of my family would like.... I'm the only one that will eat horseradish so I got overruled. ;+)

Mayonnaise Taste Test - Cook's Country (http://www.cookscountry.com/taste_tests/561-mayonnaise?extcode=NXYHE19ZZ)
“Rich, smooth, and velvety,” with a “strong, sharp vinegar taste” and “eggy” flavor—but “the balance is off.” Despite its fanatical following in the South, Duke’s Mayonnaise struck our tasters as merely fine.

The display I saw at the 4th and Eastern store wasn't in the dressing aisle. It was setup as a display back near the meat case.

Yeah... I was pretty happy with it too... Don't use a lot of mayo though so I hope they start carrying smaller bottles..... I did see that the Supercenter at !-240 and Santa Fe had smaller squeeze bottles but they were more expensive than the larger bottle and I needed two cups for the recipe I was making.

FWIW, the top rated mayo, Blue Plate, is also being carried in Norman Wal Marts
MadMonk 05-31-2015, 04:33 PM I picked some up at Wal Mart on NW Expressway yesterday. Made a sandwich with it when I got home. Not bad at all, but I still prefer Hellmann's, probably because it's what I grew up eating. Over the last 25 years or so, my wife has trained me to tolerate Miracle Whip, since she cannot stand mayonnaise. :)
I know what it's like to crave something from another area of the country, though. I so stoked to see that Cheerwine was stocked at Pop's (and Cracker Barrel). Even Sun Drop is becoming more available. Sadly, I have to more closely watch my sugar intake these days and cannot partake of those delights, except on rare occasions.

I was at the WM Supercenter on NW EXP and Council Saturday..they had a large display of Duke's at a rollback price of $2.00 per jar...regular price was $3.44.
