Throckmorton 01-04-2016, 11:17 AM KD out against the Kings tonight, probably out for the Grizzlies on Wednesday.

Kevin Durant is out tonight wth a sprained right big toe. Injured it the second quarter against the Hornets.
Royce Young @royceyoung 2m2 minutes ago
The Thunder say Durant will see how he feels over the next few days. Sounds like he could be doubtful Wednesday against the Grizzlies.
Anthony Slater @anthonyVslater 4m4 minutes ago
Kevin Durant sprained his left big toe last season and ended up missing four games. I'd say doubtful for Wednesday against Grizzlies.
Royce Young @royceyoung 7m7 minutes ago
The Thunder's upcoming week: Kings, Grizzlies, at the Lakers, at the Blazers. Possible Durant misses those games.
Anonymous. 01-04-2016, 01:03 PM So both toes?
This team's bench is legitimately terrible. Kanter is so bad at defense. It's incredible.
Anonymous. 01-04-2016, 10:52 PM Cousins just dismantled OKC tonight. That one was rough, definitely one of those nights that everything goes wrong.
dankrutka 01-04-2016, 11:57 PM This team's bench is legitimately terrible. Kanter is so bad at defense. It's incredible.
Kanter actually hasn't been terrible this season against all odds. He's really shown tremendous improvement across almost all defensive statistical measures. If you're referring to Cousin's domination, well, he's the best big man in the league.
He was bad this game, but to be fair, so was everybody else. This team flat out isn't very good at defense a lot of times. They switch on screens that they don't need to all the time. Westbrook and Payne were switched onto Cousins countless times where he drained open looks.
Unfortunate that one of the team's best defenders is a liability on the other side of the ball.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City Thunder - Box Score - January 06, 2016 - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400828421)
Thunder starters 62; plus 50 points from bench.
Grizzlies starters 39; plus 55 points from bench.
ljbab728 01-06-2016, 11:48 PM The fans in Memphis are probably not pleased about how far their team has fallen this year.
Laramie 01-07-2016, 02:10 PM The fans in Memphis are probably not pleased about how far their team has fallen this year.
The fan support shows. Grizzlies are averaging 17,099 which is down from the 17,329 in which they finished the 2014-15 season. Like OKC, Memphis has one major league franchise, along with PCL AAA baseball and a major collegiate football team. They sport one of the best facilities in the NBA (FedEx Forum--18,119) which seats slightly less than OKC's Peake (18,203).
Grizzlies have acquired some recent additions to the team like Jeff Green, Mario Chalmers & JaMychal Green. True, they lost Jerryd Bayless, Mike Miller, Tayshaun Prince & Rudy Gay (who thought he was on Durant's level); they just haven't jelled. To make matters worst; they've got Mighty Jo Z-Bo (Randolph) coming off the bench.
The size of the ice packs on his knees was impressive.

The shoes Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant wore on Christmas Day against the Chicago Bulls now sit on 5-year-old Keaton Barrón's bookcase.
His parents want to put Durant's size-18s in a protective glass case, but Keaton, who currently wears 2˝s, has other ideas.
"I want to wear them when I get bigger," Keaton told his parents.
He has earned the chance to grow into them.
More than three years ago, on Aug. 30, 2012, Keaton was diagnosed with leukemia. He was very sick and faced a grueling regimen of chemotherapy. But he rallied, rooting on the Thunder the entire time.
"He always checks the schedule of the refrigerator and asks if he can stay up to watch the Thunder," Keaton's mom, Holly Barrón, said. "He even fakes getting up at night like he needs a drink just to check the score."

On Dec. 27, Keaton completed his final round of chemotherapy and has been deemed cancer-free. A week later, the Barróns celebrated by going to see the Thunder play the Sacramento Kings. Keaton wore his "KD is my homeboy" shirt and brought a sign showcasing his three goals for 2016. "Beat Cancer" -- Check. "Plan trip to Disney" - Check. The third goal, "Meet KD," was unchecked. Durant took care of that.
Durant sat out Monday's game with a sprained right toe, but saw Keaton's sign and made arrangements to meet the Barrón family at halftime.
"I've been waiting to meet him my whole life," Keaton told his mom.

Defense is terribad. Again.

What defense?
SoonerDave 01-11-2016, 10:28 AM Won't pretend to be a *huge* NBA fan, but man, it's hard to get exceptionally excited over this season when you see a lot of the same ol' things spin around - horrendous defensive effort, some guy on the wrong team going off, just a song that keeps on coming back from the Brooks' era. If you never see it change, hard to get optimistic it ever will - and meanwhile, GSW has, what, two losses?
Laramie 01-11-2016, 02:16 PM If you keep using GSW & SAS as a way to gauge the Thunder; you will get depressed.
Let's just hope we can get some of the kinks worked out following the NBA All Star break...
Did many of you think that Billy Donovan was going to come in and turned things around overnight?
The Thunder have 7 years of Scott Brooks' cobwebs messed into this team. These habits & idiosyncrasies will take time to correct & transition. Let's hope that Durant & Westbrook can stay the course and sign on for better things to come.
dankrutka 01-11-2016, 09:53 PM Defense is terribad. Again.
It's struggling as of late, but still a top 10 defense (by the numbers). If we're going to contend we probably need a top 5 defense.
The defense could have been better late, but you also just have to tip your cap to Lillard. He could go the rest of his career without a three minute stretch like that. He was hitting some incredible shots.

OKC is pretty clearly in the top 4 teams in the NBA. What a terrible life. Why even watch? ;)
We've become pretty spoiled pretty quick.
Thomas Vu 01-11-2016, 10:06 PM If you keep using GSW & SAS as a way to gauge the Thunder; you will get depressed.
Sooooo much this. Thunder record is 4th in the NBA overall, 2nd in scoring, and average (15) in defense.
With your guy's opinion of defense, you'd expected every team to score 0.
I don't believe our bench is all that bad either. Cam Payne is blowing up, and love it when Russ and Cam are the guards on the floor.

Urbanized 01-16-2016, 09:48 AM 50 Cent was here to promote Effen Vodka, in which he owns an interest. He did an appearance at Byron's. Holyfield was here for a fight night event. He actually attended the past two Thunder Games. OKC Fight Night (http://okcfightnight.com/)
CCOKC 01-16-2016, 10:39 AM I know almost nothing about 50 Cent but he left the game a little early with a large entourage and walked up the aisle right next to my section. He did seem friendly enough and slowed down to wave to people who were taking pictures of him. A lot different than the experience of lil Wayne coming to a Thunder game.

What do you think?
Laramie 01-22-2016, 12:02 AM Satisfied with current brand that has grown on me over the years. If it is changed to black & gold with the feather in the K in OKC; it's okay. Indian heritage is apart of our heritage.
http://assets.sbnation.com/imported_assets/15387/m8cqzc.jpg
The black & gold was depicted with Kevin Durant in an NBA Oklahoma City Barons' uniform before the Thunder name was finalized.
Many of our popular minor league franchises & OCU collegiate team used Indian & bird related names- mascots:
Oklahoma City Warriors 1933 (Stockyard Coliseum) American Hockey Association
Oklahoma City Indians 1951 (Holland Park) Texas League (AA baseball).
Oklahoma City Chiefs 1944-99 (Frederickson Fieldhouse) NCAA I (basketball)
Oklahoma City Plainsmen 1967/1968 (Taft Stadium) PFLA/Continental Football League (semi pro football)
Oklahoma Redhawks 1998-2008, Oklahoma City Redhawks 2009-14 (Bricktown Ballpark) PCL (AAA baseball)
Thunder as a Thundering herd of Bison could make that transition.
Thomas Vu 01-22-2016, 02:07 AM "Thunder higher-ups hoped fans would think of two things when they heard the name -- storms and rapmaging bison -- but they didn't want to commit visually in either direction"
While I like the new colors, the logo presented wouldn't accomplish the mission either.
Roger S 01-22-2016, 08:06 AM Well the Thunder fan in me likes what I see but the Jayhawk in me cringes at the thought of wearing anything black and gold.... /shudder
Not bad. This other Re-Brand is cool too:

Laramie 01-22-2016, 11:23 AM Jake,
That's a much better transition that could be made for the re-branding; like that coordination of the raging bison, thunder bolt and court logo. Especially the K in OKC on the jersey--looks great. Wish they could add a little color to the court logo. Great skeleton plan; hope they can go with the green light on this.
https://mir-s3-cdn-cf.behance.net/project_modules/1400/a6089a32365283.5693db91ae343.png
Great, we can keep those current orange/black OKC jerseys for throw back. Westbrook's a perfect model.
https://mir-s3-cdn-cf.behance.net/project_modules/1400/ebf1a632365283.5693db91ad0cc.png
Add some color like an orange or brown buffalo and a basketball colored state.
This has an NFL Buffalo Bills flavor of which I'm okay with that.
zookeeper 01-22-2016, 04:48 PM I hate the feather thing. Reinforces old stereotypes about Oklahoma City. Yes, it was a part of our heritage, but it doesn't have to be associated with OKC's biggest brand.

The logo on Westbrook looks like an AC/DC album and the court is wayyy too busy. The state outline, the buffalo, two lightning marks, and a star in the center of the state. I'd be fine with a little change, but that's going too far.
Jersey Boss 01-22-2016, 05:35 PM I think this was the inspiration.

BlackmoreRulz 01-22-2016, 05:36 PM Hate the "K" in the above on Westbrook, looks exactly like the Nazi SS logo.
Good game against the Mavs. I think I like the squeakers better than the blowouts. Harder on my insides though.
Urbanized 01-23-2016, 06:51 AM ^^^^^^
Winning squeakers demonstrates a toughness that heretofore has been absent in the Thunder. I don't want to get carried away, but with this win streak you're starting to get the sense that they may finally be gelling.

Agreed. The bench is getting more time and confidence and it's starting to show. I hope Adams bruised elbow is not too bad. Singler is starting to show some promise. Payne is turning into quite the hotrod. When these guys are firing on all cylinders I see the Team going pretty far.

I don't understand this team's penchant for just taking a night off.
I don't see GSW taking nights off.
I don't see the Spurs taking nights off.
But this Thunder team, good grief...you lose to a .250 Nets team?
You want to be elite, but you're not elite when you do crap like this.
adaniel 01-25-2016, 01:48 PM To be fair, they barely made it to NYC (and were quite late in doing so), could not practice, much less leave their hotel rooms, and were without Adams.
Third best record in the league, and second best since mid December. All on a 1st year head coach and wildly different lineup. Keep it in perspective. Outside of this game they were gelling quite nicely. I'd consider them elite.
