My first OKCtalk post. It's a mystery spot on what is soon to become a very HOT corner of 23rd & Walker.

I've been eyeing this space for awhile now. I used to call it the "no ATM store" because of all the hand written paper signs to that effect strewn about the property. I used to come here a lot to buy ice for my cooler during early construction phases of my bar. Then it just closed overnight.

There was a pump, but I don't think they sold gas. About 1 year to the day of the county assessors recorded transfer date (nov 2013) it closed and was stripped of most all its contents. More curiously: a tiny structure was built around the gas pump to conceal it.

It looks to be owned by the same family for 20+ years.

I would be delighted if anyone knew more or were able to find out more about this space. With Starbucks rumors and property values soaring, I'm interested in why this place was closed, cleaned, painted, and slightly polished, just to sit for six months with almost no activity.

Following down that trust on the county assessor website shows they own Thai House II and a bunch of other stuff around the area. Maybe lunch across the street would yield some info.

if this is the property that is on the SE/4 of the intersection, it now appears to be a goodwill donation center which greatly disappoints me....

A few days ago Rachel Cope "Empire Pizza" and Chef Jeff Chanchaleune "Kaiteki Ramen" were speaking with two others at the yellow and green building directly north of this location. I know Kaiteki Ramen is looking to do a brick and mortar. That would be a great location!

I believe Jeff is no longer associated with Kaiteki. He is now doing pop up ramen dinners. Hes even done some food specials with Ian at the Pump.

I have heard this as well. He is also working with Rachel Cope with a concept called Project Slurp. I think these Pop ups are about to start happening regularly as well.

So is this not becoming a Starbucks? I told my wife it was and we were excited since we live in the neighborhood behind.

No one has been able to establish the source of this rumor, but like 115% of Heritage Hills/Mesta Park residents heard it.

The green and yellow building is over 9,000sq/ft I don't think that's an appropriate size for a ramen shop :) but Jeff is definitely actively seeking abode near the core. I hear rumors constantly about the truong than market but also keep in mind it's attached to the concrete sea behind that hosts the rogue skate park, ex-humpty dumpy parking, and two 23rd st. store fronts east of truong than.

Which FYI were once a veezey's drug store and humpty dumpty (skate park) grocery. Respectively.
