The store at Council and Wilshire has demolished the small space adjacent to it which had 2 businesses I believe. They might just be expanding the building from the looks of the groundwork.
Yes, there is a sign on that property that says one of their new concept stores is planned there.
The 7-11 on MacArthur about a block south of Britton seems closed down. I only got a couple seconds to look as I drove by but it seems the gas pumps are gone and it looked empty. I'll cruise by tomorrow for a closer look.
Joe Kimball 09-27-2018, 11:03 PM I saw one of the tanks on a flatbed on the way to the course this evening.
okatty 11-09-2018, 02:22 PM What I think is a 7-11 going in at Rockwell and Memorial has signage on the building - Capital Burgers/Pizza. Is that a 7-11 branding deal or a separate place if anyone knows?

It’s their fast food concept built inside their new stores... The new store on 89th and S. May has one...
okatty 11-09-2018, 02:49 PM ^I suspected that but just had not seen one before - thanks!
Thomas Vu 11-09-2018, 03:38 PM Anybody try it before? I was excited until I heard this.
sacolton 11-13-2018, 01:08 PM This is correct. With the change in our liquor laws, liquor stores are now viewed as competitors by 7-Eleven and no leases are being renewed or being entered in to...
Everyone knows liquor stores attract certain ... undesirables. ;)

The store attached to the 7-11 on Robinson and 77 in Norman is staying. The owner told me his lease is good but he had to agree to not sell beer or wine....liquor only.
MagzOK 12-04-2018, 10:33 PM I have heard that 7-Eleven is building one of their new style locations along E Memorial Rd east of Broadway Extension at the corner of E Memorial Rd and Everest. They're clearing the land now. It should replace that dingy '80s location that's currently on the opposite corner.

I checked the permits and they have indeed filed to build a new store directly west of their existing location and east of Car Max:

scottk 12-05-2018, 10:12 PM Two OnCue's close by, 33rd and Kelly (....or Kelley) and Memorial and Eastern. I guess depending on which way your commute is to and from, this may be easier to get to than those. Also, this will help aid in competition of pricing as 7 11's and OnCue's within viewing distance of each other always try to have the cheapest gas.
^^^^^^^ And a 3rd OnCue 2 miles west at Memorial & Western.
Jeepnokc 12-11-2018, 08:46 AM Go out on a limb here. I went into the new 7/11 on S Council yesterday. I really like the concept with the food offering and the layout. It reminded me of the new QTs in Tulsa. I think it is a better concept than On Cue but On Cue will continue to kick their butt if 7/11 can't get control over cleanliness ad employee cheerfulness. This 7/11 was clean and friendly though. Maybe 7/11 has a chance against OnCue. I like OnCue but find their selection at times limited. 7/11 also needs to rethink selling lottery tickets as that is usually 80% of the time I go inside
codiejoe 01-16-2019, 04:41 PM New location sign has gone up near At Home & Comfort Inn hotel on MacArthur & I-40.

This location at Rockwell and memorial is nearly complete but I noticed they removed all capital city branding from the building this last week
Anyone know what’s going on with that?
dford2 02-18-2019, 09:01 AM Just cleared the land for a new store at 12th Ave. NE and Robinson in Norman
SEMIweather 02-19-2019, 10:09 PM Did they tear down the current store there, or are they building it behind the current store like they did at SW 89th and May?

They have new branding up today, something about fresh fast Tex-Mex.

This location at Rockwell and Memorial opens Thursday 2/28

Building behind it, bulldozed the car wash to the east and the liquor store directly to the north

This location is killing it. Have been pretty busy every time I go by.
okatty 03-04-2019, 01:07 PM Just with the Paycom and Farmer's traffic it should do really well.
baralheia 03-05-2019, 06:10 PM I went in this weekend - the food area is similar to a Chipolte - pick what you want and they make it for you.
Hope that works better than their other Capitol City menu... Tried a slice of pizza from the new store at 89th and Penn when out on a grocery run and it was the worst slice of pizza I've eaten in a long time. The pizza was just bland and flavorless... even the pepperoni didn't have much flavor to it.

I’m sure it’s nothing like this: https://www.dallasobserver.com/restaurants/laredo-taco-company-opens-a-popular-south-texas-style-taco-joint-in-an-oak-cliff-7-eleven-11584574
A person I subscribe to on Instagram did an IG story from this location and the store restaurant side and the store side were so nice. So much better than the new concept stores they’re doing here.
Thomas Vu 03-22-2019, 08:46 AM I stopped and filled gas at the new rockwell location. I really enjoyed that they had a contactless payment option.

They sound nice... Unfortunately, 7/11s in OKC are owned by different groups

Yup...unfortunately. :(
mkjeeves 04-07-2019, 11:26 AM A wrecking company is clearing the site at NW 23rd and Council.
Site was cleared and some remediation done quite awhile ago. No construction yet, but there is a new sign up at this location announcing the store is coming soon.
okatty 04-07-2019, 11:32 AM They are marketing the Rockwell/Memorial location heavily....we’ve gotten two mailers with give-aways for April and now May. Free milk, bread, drinks, etc.

This makes me think that even their larger locations are still getting lapped by OnCue.

I guess it was March and April but you get my drift.
This is inside the Rock/Mem location today:

Trisha 04-07-2019, 06:42 PM I've tried the pizza & usually get it fresh made for lunch at the one in moore & its decent imo (cheese) , I like the fresh market sandwich line but I'm upset that they discontinued the Roast Beef & Cheddar on pretzel bun :( it was delish!
I'm also waiting on a new 7-11 in mwc, hoping it'll be the newer style... rumor had it on fb that they bought the SW Corner of NE 10th & Douglas Blvd (where there used to be a gas station years ago) and so far the only "progress" on the corner is the pumps & building are gone.....
oh & they closed an older store at ne 10th & Christine...
Jeepnokc 04-08-2019, 07:50 AM Stopped at 7/11 in Frisco and it was disgustingly dirty. It was 1 pm on a Sunday and all of the coffee varieties were empty except two medium roast coffees which were luke warm. Even though different owners, they both seem to have issues with cleanliness.
Thomas Vu 04-08-2019, 08:25 AM With all the newer 7/11's around, the nicest/cleanest one I've been in were the ones in Japan.
7/11 filed a building permit application for the spot at 801 S. MacArthur in front of At Home.
BlackmoreRulz 10-12-2019, 07:05 PM Sign up yesterday at the corner of Western and Danforth saying "Coming Soon".
Still haven't seen any movement on the Casey's that was supposed to go in at Penn and 192nd, will this kill that development?

I am not really surprised, I looked at the pizza and it looked nasty, I rather delivery pizza....
Edmond Hausfrau 10-25-2019, 01:34 PM The 7-11 on Memorial near Broadway has made a clever choice with gas pricing sign. If you pay with their Thanx card, that's the big price on the sign. Pay with any other credit or debit card, that's the microscopic price on the bottom left and sometimes those LEDS are not even on, but it's usually 5-8 cents more per gallon. OnCue up the block sign only has the credit card price shown so on surface looks more expensive but is often same price as 7-11 if you aren't using Thanx. I'm guessing they make good money off these Thanx cards.

Still haven't seen any movement on the Casey's that was supposed to go in at Penn and 192nd, will this kill that development?
Does this also mean that the 7-11 at Danforth and Santa Fe in Edmond will close with this new location being built a mile to the west? The current store, is on a high traffic corner with Kohl's and Walmart on the opposite corner and from the exterior looks to be only 10-15 years old?
kukblue1 11-20-2019, 10:17 AM 7/11 filed a building permit application for the spot at 801 S. MacArthur in front of At Home.
Ground has been broken and it's actually more in front of the hotel there than At Home. It's the land south of the Wendy's

Damn! Beat me to it.
Relentless85 01-07-2020, 10:32 AM Is anyone hearing news of the Dallas 7-11 owned stores/franchise possibly purchasing the 7-11 franchise stores in Oklahoma? I heard some people talking about a possible statement issued from the Dallas 7-11 corporate office/franchises saying that a possible purchase of the Oklahoma 7-11 franchises is in the works.....
Not sure how true this is at the moment.
^
I hope that is true.
90% of the OKC area 7/11's are pretty lousy.
barrettd 01-07-2020, 12:21 PM I'm surprised the 7-11 at Hefner and May has stayed so busy considering the OnCue across the street is better in just about every category. I can't stand going to that 7-11 but I still do, occasionally, depending on which direction I'm traveling. The OnCue can be very difficult to turn South out of, depending on the time of day.
Are the Dallas 7-11s an improvement over OKC?
floyd the barber 01-07-2020, 12:27 PM Are the Dallas 7-11s an improvement over OKC?
Everyone has their own opinion, but I would say no.
Dob Hooligan 01-07-2020, 12:53 PM I think it makes a lot of sense for several reasons:
Company founder Mr. Brown died within the last year, or so, at around the age 90.
The Brown family who owns all the OKC area 7-11 stores are around age 50 or older.
The OKC area stores are independent from all other 7-11 in the world.
Within the last 10 years I heard there were 120 OKC area 7-11 stores. The family owns virtually all locations.
The challenge from OnCue would demand a large financial and time commitment. This would be a good time to asses options and make a decision.
Roger S 01-07-2020, 01:57 PM Everyone has their own opinion, but I would say no.Agree... The ones in Dallas depend on how long they've been there... The newer the better.
Soonerman 01-07-2020, 06:08 PM If the Dallas 7-11 group bought the OKC 7-11, I wonder if QT would come and open up some stores in OKC??
SEMIweather 01-07-2020, 07:40 PM My thought is that at this point, OnCue has cornered the market to an extent that QT might not think that expanding into OKC is worth the effort. My question is...what market is OnCue going to expand to next, because I don't see them slowing down anytime soon under their current leadership group.
The "Coming Soon" sign on the NW corner of 59th and Mustang Road is looking faded. It's been up for close to two years.

How many mega gas stations do we need. At what point does it become too many.
TheTravellers 01-07-2020, 08:02 PM How many mega gas stations do we need. At what point does it become too many.
As long as the population keeps expanding, and the population keeps buying big-a** SUVs/trucks (and the companies keep making them) like oil prices will never go up and there's an endless supply of oil, mega gas stations will keep being built.
It's the one retail establishment that almost everybody uses, and quite frequently.
Also, there are still plenty of really shabby, awful gas stations out there, so clearly there is room for more quality operations.
Plutonic Panda 01-08-2020, 09:07 AM ^^^ correct but they don’t all have to be massive mega gas stations either.

Those are a few examples of some very cool, nice, and intimate gas stations that aren’t huge. I like OnCue for what it’s worth. I also really like Circle K and I always seek out Shell or Mobil gas stations for fuel. ConocoPhillips isn’t bad. I refuse to fuel up a Arco, AmPM, or the like. I wish OKC had a chain like WeGotIt as many of their fueling stations are unique. OnCue is just cookie cutter and their midtown location is horrible as is this location. They should do something better.
