Thursday the 26th of February is National Chili Day and chili just happens to be my second favorite food group.

I don't have time to make up a spicy batch of Texas Red myself. So where are some of your favorite places in Oklahoma City to get a good bowl of chili for lunch?

I have not had Ron's in a long time but it used to be good. Don't throw anything at me for this - but Panera Bread serves a steak chili that isn't bad! With that said, normally cook my own.

I had forgotten about Ron's.... Don't really care for their burgers but I did always enjoy their chili.

"Chili" . . . "Schmilly". It ain't even cold yet. Not to mention hot.
The only Chili worth venturing out upon which to dine. Is Mine.
And, then, only a journey to the grocery store to obtain the ingredients.
(sorta like secret BBQ . . . 'ceptin' more like soupish) -)

I must abandon this discussion of Chili on account I need to stroll (for exercise) to the local Buy For Less to pick up on some o' them Slivered Almonds that are a Key Ingredient to my attempt to make MY (imitation) version of "La Baguette's/Perfect Meal" [as posted on Facebook] except . . . slightly more . . . Authentic and Original. (it's mac and cheese with 'shrooms fer cryin' out loud . . . geez . . . it ain't rocket science or brain surgery.) =)

And, for February, the weather is just right for a nice, brisk stroll.

Having just survived a semi-brisk walk, to and from, the local grocery store--without any crosswalks or crossing signals, etc. and so forth (for key ingredients to my copy of SomePastaThing from facebook c/o La Baguette) I have to apologize for perhaps inadvertently dissin' the concept of Chili, Month. I think THEY shouldn't interfere with Black History February Month/President's Day Month, vis-a-vis these sorts of things are scheduled. Has the Hallmark Card Factory been informed? =)

Edited to Add: It is actually Chili DAY rather than Month.
please allow me to apologize for any misunderstanding or mistranslation. =)
[retrospectivelyapologeticalsemi-wise) =)

I LOVES me some good Chili.
I'm makin' us some Excellent Pasta con Sauce w/Chicken, tonight.
La Baguette Still Wins, all things considered.
I wonder how their CHILI would be . . . hmmm.

ps: the alternative would have been something resembling "Pork Chili/Posole" using up that half hunk of Pork Shoulder in the freezer . . . but that ain't "HomeMade La Baguette Pasta ala Facebook" . . . is it. =)

I apologize, once again, for misinterpreting the theme o' the thread:

Tomorrow is National Chili Day!
(like, the next to the last day of Fat Tuesday Month)

I think/hope that St. Pat's/St. Reuben's Day is just over the Virtual Horizon. =)

(I never eat chili for lunch. it's sorta' like . . . against my religion and not in my best interests)

Not really Chili per se but I like the chili spaghetti at Coney Island.

Spaghetti loaded up with chili, extra chili beef, our special chili sauce, diced onions and shredded Cheddar ’n jack cheese.

I will have to hit the one at I-40 and MacArthur tomorrow for that. Wife can't eat any type of tomato product anymore so she can have a burger.

I like our own chili at Tritone house. And, I have a little in the fridge from a couple days ago. Tomorrow sounds like a good day to polish it off.

Tritone,
Thanks for the reminder. I have a really good recipe but it's enough for an army and I live alone, so I hold out enough for a week and freeze the rest. I made some about two months ago but I had forgotten about it. I will thaw out some for today/tonight.

Yes, I too make very good chili at home and I am a former CASI member and have attended many chili cookoffs.

But as I said I don't have time to make a batch and was asking for any good bowls that can be found around OKC.

A co-worker said he eats chili sometimes at Johnnie's. I do too but usually has a burger or frankfurter involved!:)

I used to always get a chili dog at Johnnie's but I don't think I ever just ordered the chili on it's own.

Bricktown Burger used to be my option of choice for chili.

You might add The Garage to your list. I was there at lunch and they have bowl of chili on the menu ($4 bargain too).

OKBBQEA,
Bunnies used to have really good chili but it's been several years since I have ordered it. I don't even know if it's still on the menu.

I used to love the chili at Abraham's Western Cafe, though I inexplicably have never been to the new location. And by new, I think I mean something like 10+ years.
