View Full Version : Bob Dylan coming to OKC ljbab728 02-12-2015, 10:30 PM Oklahoma City, OK | The Official Bob Dylan Site (http://www.bobdylan.com/us/tour/2015-05-03-civic-center-music-hall) zookeeper 02-13-2015, 12:53 AM From Billboard Magazine: Bob Dylan Announces Monthlong Spring Tour (http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6472729/bob-dylan-announces-monthlong-spring-tour) Who would have ever dreamed Thackerville, OK and Winstar Casino would be on this list? Bob Dylan the 2nd (Winstar) and 3rd of May (OKC) in Oklahoma. Wow. Yes, I'll take Bob Dylan at 73 over just about anything else that comes through here. http://i.imgur.com/5Y4LTon.jpg Achilleslastand 02-13-2015, 01:46 AM Im guessing the opening act will be Joan Baez right? J/K GaryOKC6 02-13-2015, 06:16 AM I am a huge Dylan fan but I have to say that I saw him the last 2 times he was in OKC and both concerts were terrible. I may just save my money and by some more of his cd's. I saw him at the zooamp last. maybe the civic center will be a better venue for him. Mr. Cotter 02-13-2015, 08:23 AM If he's playing his latest album, no thanks. OkieHornet 02-13-2015, 08:42 AM having seen dylan twice in the last 10 years, you're not sure what you're going to get as far as his voice night-to-night. the way he sings now isn't like his recorded versions. more raspy, mumbled, etc... and some of his song arrangements are totally different than what they are on the albums. but his band is always great. and don't be surprised by winstar getting him. they get the north texas/dallas crowd mainly and have brought in many top acts lately - sting, john legend, steely dan, erykah badu, john mellencamp... lots of acts that aren't your normal "casino-circuit" bands. boscorama 02-16-2015, 08:28 PM I've been to two of his concerts. The first was so bad, I had to give him a second chance. Wrong. Both concerts were terrible. Mel 02-16-2015, 11:11 PM Age robs everyone's voice. Lot of the older singers just don't have their magic voice anymore. Paul McCartney on SNL"s 40th bash last night sounded pretty wore out. Elton John also comes to mind. Older guys just can't hit the high notes anymore. Unless your Grandson head butts you in the doo dads. RadicalModerate 02-16-2015, 11:52 PM Is it too late to reserve tickets as a pallbearer on the watchtower without asking permission of the weatherman to know which way the wind blows? Or how many roads one must walk down to know that stuff? The dude was from an Iron Range town in Semi-Northern Minnesota who decided to be a wannabe Beatnik Transitionalist. I wouldn't give a dime to see him in concert. Yet I'd be happy to invite him over to the house for supper. GaryOKC6 02-17-2015, 05:57 AM I've been to two of his concerts. The first was so bad, I had to give him a second chance. Wrong. Both concerts were terrible. I had the same experience unfortunately. Wont be lining up for tickets this time around. mkjeeves 02-17-2015, 06:08 AM I saw him at the zoo maybe around 2000. Thought it was pretty good considering. I'm tempted. Urbanized 02-17-2015, 07:46 AM I think that's the same show I saw. I thought it was pretty good, despite being largely unintelligible. I also saw parts of a show at the Bricktown Ballpark (with Willie Nelson), but it was only because I was on my way to my car and stopped for a few songs. It was a mistake; as the sound was oriented away from where I was standing, so I got a bad echo from the stands. LakeEffect 02-17-2015, 10:33 AM I think that's the same show I saw. But, you do have to go in with the expectation that his voice is raspy... |
